haha, Tatu are pretty good. Not my fav. band, but I have some of their CDs. It's funny tho... from their song "All The Things She Said" (Is that it's title?), you can easily switch "All the things she said, all the things she said, running through my head, running through my head!" with "Russian lesbians, Russian lesbians, running through my head, running through my head!" lol My friend and I sang that a lot... hehe... its so true ^_^

Anyway, some of my fav. bands:
1. System of a Down
2. Slipknot
3. Greenday
4. Evanescence
5. Tapping The Vein
6. Snake River Conspiracy
7. Saves The Day
8. My Ruin
9. Jack Off Jill
10. Cold
11. Lacuna Coil
12. Kidneythieves
13. Bad Religion
14. Radiohead
15. Breaking Benjamin
16. Everclear
17. Deftones

20. Staind
21. Flogging Molly (awesome Irish-style punk band)
22. Millencolin
23. Korn
24. Sublime
25. Nirvana
26. Jimmy Eat World
27. Linkin Park

First off this supposed "crap" is good music to us. So this "crap" is an opinion of yours, and yours alone.

I mean for all you know WE think YOUR music is crap.

Plus, I don't think many of us posted ALL of the music we listen too (my list is very long and quite extensive, hence would take a very long time to type, time I like to think I don't have http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif)

So, next time before you come in insulting everyone, think about what you're saying.

I have wierd (to some) musical tastes. Mostly I enjoy classical film soundtracks by composers such as John Williams, Howard Shore, Don Davis. I am also a big fan of Video Game remixes (check this site (http://www.ocremix.org/) for a ton of great tracks) and video game music in general. I do like a few "normal" songs, but lately I've been listening to old 80's music for some reason...

Relative to the input in this thread, i'm an incredibly rare find in musical taste. ^_^ Here are my likes, in no real order of preference.

Joe Hisaishi
Gerald Finzi
Crosby, Stills, Nash
Dvorak
Tchaikovsky
Kansas
Led Zeppelin
Beethoven
Handel
Haydn
Ferguson
R. V. Williams
Mozart
Norah Jones
Pink Floyd
REO Speedwagon
Yoko Kanno (her classical & jazz compositions)

There are a few others with whom I'd like to familiarize myself further because i've heard a few of their pieces. These include Chopin, Elton John, Hurlstone, and some others that aren't on my mind at the moment. I've heard some classical on the radio that pleased me very much, but I didn't catch the name of the composer(s). There was a "Suite No. 1" in which I found very much interest, for orchestra, but the name is too common too find the correct composer. Also, some of those above hold a memorial significance, such as Norah Jones played in my old home before my family moved. Anyway, there's my tastes.

Edit: I made no changes, but how did I forget Styx!?

Ok, so his newer stuff is sub-par, but I really like his older music...

Tranceport
Global Underground: New York
Fluoro

I've also got Ibiza, Travelling, Another World, A Voyage Into Trance, Great Wall, Bunkka, and... erm, Perfect Remixes vol. 1 ( http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_dead.gif )

I ordered 'Resident' from GEMM a week ago, but the seller hasn't responded http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_cry.gif

His better (read: older) music is usually much harder to find on disc.

If I'm looking for hardcore though, I'll usually just put in anything from the Magik series...

I'm sorry if I offend you with this but it's simply an opinion coming from someone that has been deconstructing and creating electronic music since he was 11 years old (me), but Paul cokenfold is a complete tool. Not only does he have absolutely no skill in producing really complex and quality electronic music, but he could not be original for the life of him.

second
just thought i'd let ya know cuz i think everyone would be alot happier with some NOFX and rancid in their life.

I'm sorry but rancid is not punk... nothing is punk. As well, don't bash people's interests just because you don't like something.. like my above statement regarding Paul chokinpole, I didn't bash them for listening to it, I just think P-oak is a hack.

I would not come in here saying, "hey whats your music interests" and then say "you're fucking stupid for liking evanscense" (even though I hate them) ..

don't be rude.. if you're going to be that way, don't post. No one asked you for suggestions on what they should listen to.

I don't see how I would be offended, seeing as how I'm not Paul Oakenfold http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Nevertheless, your words are quite harsh and you seem to be expecting something out of his music that you shouldn't. Perhaps you're just jaded by the way people normally present music: prodigy early in life stumbles on way to further a genre of music in his/her own unique way through developing musical talents. Oakenfold wasn't like this - he was a businessman who learned the talents of mixing music - not much more than that. As most DJs, he has his own tunes, but that's not where every Oakenfold fan will direct their attention. Oakenfold is a presenter in the purest sense and is an absolute master of mixing music from other publishers/labels - this may not seem like a whole lot, seeing as how it strays away from what people normally expect from their music, but when you can really clear your mind from expectation and appreciate music for what it is and how it makes you feel, then and only then will you recognize where Paul Oaknfold's true talents lie.

If you can't appreciate his music for what it is, then you are the only true *hack* here. Though I may not like and listen to a lot of the music listed on this thread, I can at least appreciate the fact that it makes the people here feel like something is good in this world - that they are not alone with their feelings - whatever reasons people have to listen to the music that they do. So please try and have a little reverance for the fact that music means a lot to others, regardless of your underdeveloped opinions of people you don't even know personally (Paul Oakenfold); especially seeing as how you are demanding reverance in return.

people you don't even know personally (Paul Oakenfold) i wouldn't be saying anything if I hadn't had direct contact with him in the past.. in which my conclusion was, he was an arrogant bitch.

as for why you are calling me the true *hack* and calling my opinion *underdeveloped*, I think you failed to see I wasn't bashing people for what they like, I was merely mentioning that I think paul oakenfolds *master* mixing abilites, are not really *master* level. Out of the hundreds of DJs I have met in the past 1 1/2 decades, I can honestly say Oakenfold isn't one of the top 5. Rephrasing.. out of 300 odd Djs, that are great I might add, he is not in the top 5.

I don't remember saying anything like "anyone who listens to paul oakenfold is a gimp and has no taste", I again, was only stating that I personally think he is a hack in the electronic music production world.

As for "selecting" other peoples music, I can't give anyone credit/attention for that. Some people mix better than others, hell, other people can actually mix things other than 4/4 and breaks.

I'm still having a hard time understanding how someone can call anothers opinion under-developed unless a person didn't like someone elses opinion.

dont take it so personally.

joy for you? i dont need to be a professional sound designer to appreciate music...

but Paul cokenfold is a complete tool. Not only does he have absolutely no skill in producing really complex and quality electronic music, but he could not be original for the life of him.

okay, before i go any further, i hope to god you arent another one of those darude/sandstorm fanboys. i really do.

and as ardhel said, he isnt known best for his originals, he is known for his remixes. almost anyone that actually listens to his music can tell you that. you'd be suprised how many semi-well known DJs got their start covering and remixing. is it so suprising that one or two of them made that their claim to fame?

to ardhel:

youve got more CDs than i do http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif (ive only got NY)

And again.. did I say you had to be a sound designer to appreciate music.. I was speaking on my behalf. since I'm sure that none of you produce electronic music. understand now?

I could just be a jerk about this and ask when your debut album comes out, but I wouldn't want to do something like that...

Not everyone has the same tastes, I also wasn't expecting my music to change your tastes, was simply pointing out that ared's assumption that i'm speaking out of my ass was wrong.

I wasn't judging people by their tastes, nor was I judging oakenfolds creation tastes. All I was trying to get at, is that there are people that do what oakenfold does, 1000 times better.

thats kind of like saying JDA sucks because there are better hardcore DJs
[/raver reference]

back to the topic.

you don't like oakenfield, while others do. just like you said yourself, it fits to other's tases.

i personally rather like his hardcore remixes, and some of his origonal stuff. you obviously don't like him, since he doesent play to your tastes.

example, i could have torn your music apart with unerring ruthlessness, because i dont like it. but i didnt because it was just my tastes and opinions, and my unwelcome criticisms would just lose me credibility as well.

You may not like Oakenfold much, but do you like Tiesto?
