View Full Version : Ugh, when will it end?

Well, I just got all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled out yesterday. (which is a bad thing in itself http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif) I was kind of nervous about the operation, but I was reassured it was not a big deal. They took an X-ray of my mouth and said the roots and teeth were fine, and they would be easy to take out. The nurse suggested that I take laughing gas, because it makes your body numb so that it wouldn't hurt putting the IV in. So, I agreed and they put a mask on my nose and told me to breath deep. So, I was thinking it was no big deal, until everything sped up. It felt almost like I was dreaming and time was speeding up. It even got VERY uncomfortable and even painful in ways I didn't understand.

Next thing I know, I'm lying in their recovery area, tongue numb, and gauze pads on each side of my mouth. (MUCH better than cotton) So I was happy it was over, although I couldn't talk right, because my tongue was numb, and the gauze pads didn't help either.

I asked my dad if it was alright for me to take the gauzes out, and he said it was alright. (I was assuming that the surgeons told him that it was fine for me to take them out when I got home. Unfortunately it was a BIG mistake, and my gums have been bleeding for the past 14 hours. I'm afraid to eat or drink anything (although it was soft food as the doctor told me to eat for the next few days) because, first of all, I don't want to swallow a mouth full of blood along with the blood, and I tried drinking a milkshake my dad bought me from McDonald's, but I ended throwing up both blood and shake later on.

My parents also bought me gauze pads to fold up and put in my mouth, to absorb all the blood. It works very well, but it makes my mouth extremely dry in the process. My parents were given a sheet on what to do after my wisdom teeth taken out. The sheet suggested I gargle saltwater, and ironically enough, we were out of salt. Fortunately, my dad went to the store and picked up salt while he was there, so I gargled some salt water little by little. It worked very well for about 2 minutes, and then blood was coming up after that. Saltwater has a bad aftertaste as well.

So, here I am, I got 2 hours of sleep right now, because of blood spewing from my gums. I haven't eaten anything in 31 hours, because my stomach hurt really bad after the surgery yesterday. I'm feeling well now, except for my bloody gums. I woke up with my tongue being stained with brown, black, and yellow from the blood staying in my mouth while I was sleeping. Argh, it feels like the blood will never stop. I guess I have to just be patient and allow the stitches to heal my gums. Fortunately, I'm getting my stitches out this Saturday, so that means it won't take too long to heal.

yeck, that doesn't sound to fun. I wonder if you had any alergic reaction to the laughging gas, though it usually just causes problems with the heart.

I know one of my roots had grown to far into my tooth or something, and another tooth was coming up. Well, the tooth got chipped and the pain and yada yada. I get the numbing shot (to tell you the truth, I didn't even know it was a shot until after the apointment, heh, how's that for painless) and they put a drill to my tooth and shatter into three peices that i get to take home with me (gee, I feel so special http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif )

Sorry man, mouth problems can be teh suxorz. Hope you get better.

oh.. hucasts.... When you have your wisdom teeth pulled, make a check up appointment with the oral surgeon or dentist to do some xrays, just to check if they haven't done any nerve damage in your gums.. or you'll end up like me..

you'll be diagnosed with this:

Well, I'm going back there this Saturday anyways to get my stitches out. My gums are slowly recovering, though they still bleed. Ah well, at least the worst is over with. Although it's hard to eat anything when you can barely open your mouth and barely chew without pain. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif

Actually, I didn't expect it to, nor did it make me laugh. I was just a bit nervous and wanted to make sure I was knocked-out well.

My mother said before she was remarried that my old man had his widsdom teeth (two of 'em) removed. His teeth bled for about two days after that.

Now my sister has to have four of them removed, the teeth grew in backwards (odd).

What escapes me is the purpose of the useless widsom teeth.

A bit off topic: I have no right wisdom teeth. Odd, no?

Way back when man wore loinclothes, wielded large clubs, and had no need for dentists, you were expected to loose a lot of teeth, thus an extra set would grow. In today's world, it's become useless.

Yet another small and useless endeavour into the world of teeth...

I had 4 side teeth removedwhen I was 8 or 9... for braces... I know where you comin from when you say you were too sick to eat.

Personally I think they should just maybe do 1 every 3 days or something. Because all at once, sucks ass.
