Alright, I've been playing GC PSO since December 2002. I spend a long time offline and thats where I developed my love for hunting and playing legitly. Why am I telling you this? Because I know there is going to be afew "Doubting Toms" in the crowd. Anyway enough of that...

Afew months back a friend (Muff') managed to track down the elusive Sealed J Sword. Then afew months after that he quit. Sad yesh. D: But before quiting he gave away afew of his prized possessions. I lucked out and got his Sealed J Sword. : x A blessing or a curse? hehe

http://www.inf.tu-dresden.de/~s5730271/rena/snap/20040203screen0261d

Ever since I got it I've been trying to unseal it. Basically just by getting kills in. I tried Max Attack 2 runs on Normal... you can rack in 450kills in 30mins. Only got upto about 4k kills with it, mostly cause I was always with people when I came online. I raised a new character which I used to gain some more kills from normal to ult. Lastly I just made sure that Shiro (my hune) used SJ whenever she could.

Afew days ago it all paid off. I was doing a run through ruins with some friends. Near the end of ruins 3 my inventory was abit messy. I tend to click 'Sort' a lot. Anyway today was special... I went really fast to click sort, sorta like muscle memory for PSO. XD Anyway I dropped the SJ on the ground. I then picked it up and noticed that the menu had changed. Instead of Remove/Drop/Sort SJ now said Use/Remove/Drop. At this point I flipped and proceeded to mail anyone who was online. : x

Well here's the videos of it unsealing:

unsealing through menu (http://www.inf.tu-dresden.de/~s5730271/rena/unsealed1.avi)

unsealing through quick menu (http://www.inf.tu-dresden.de/~s5730271/rena/unsealed2.avi)

final unsealing (http://www.inf.tu-dresden.de/~s5730271/rena/unsealed3.avi)

First two videos were done offline by Ryna. (the one who can make the videos ;P) And the last video is done online for all to see!

And no we didn't have 3 sealed j swords, hard reset for the first two was used offline. And the final was done by myself online.

So? How do we unseal it Aura? Ah yes I don't know the exact number of kills.
-_- But I had been told earlier that 100k kill was needed. No way in the short amount of time that I had could I even be close to getting 100k kills. However I don't think it was 23k kills, seeing as Muff' told me he had 10k. And I carried on from there, I had done way more then 23k kills alone maybe... 32k? or somewhere above that. I can't say for sure...

One thing I do know, if you have a legit SJ keep on fighting and it'll unseal one day.

Thank you a lot.

I'll quote this and edit it into my Sticky in a few minutes.

I can hear you in the menues, but I can't see what is happening (it came up with the WMP graphics instead of the video that should be shown).

I really want to watch that video, but according to the download, i've got 40 mins to wait...
So I'll just assume that someone else will watch it fast and i'll just believe you. ^_^'

So we finally got a video, huh? Now was it really so damn hard for someone to finally get one?

I'd like to say congrats, but that doesn't seem like the best adjective to use in this situation. XD

And you've just increased my passion to get that sword by tenfold.

first of, its avi (codec). nothing to do with quicktime.

best would be, you save it to harddisk first, then get yourself xvid or divx5.2 codec and install it. now, the divxplayer or windows media player or... winamp for example should be able to play it properly.

then... the files are placed on a server connected via T3 backbone. so if you get those 40 minutes for files that are between 5 and 10 MB then its prolly the distance (youre loading from germany). try again in an hour or so.

i'd ask everyone who downloads it to dont hammer the servers. i dont have any issue with it but when the admins there decide that its drawing too much trafic, they'll simply kill the files. would be your loss.

Yeah, good job. I for one wouldn't have bothered to persevere and unseal it, but j00 did, and now have pretty much put the mystery to rest. Congrats and thanks for the vid work Ryna. In the final unsealing online, Ryna did have to edit out some of the other Symbol Chats that were displayed though by curry-donut, and myself =o, nice work with that.

Download the thing I linked to in my sticky. It is required to view this with WMP.

This is great, it shows that you can get a legit TJS, but it doesn't necessarily show that kills caused it.

Congratulations! Thats a great thing to finally see.
It first had the use option in Ruins 3 u say? Hmmm in the room with 3 belras?(Not the last room, not sure if it has anything to do with it, but once when i did a random ruins run, with my Hucast, i swear i saw some sort of special effect on my cast, after emptying the room.) Because im sure i saw something wierd happen in that room.

I'm pretty sure the kills did cause it. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif I didn't do anything special over the last few weeks. Just good old hack and slash in regular areas. Leisure runs if you will. And the room was empty where I dropped it, I was in a corridor. I can snap it but I don't think its relavant.

Yes, it was probably caused by the kills, but the video doesn't show that. :-/

I don't know what you encoded it with, aurra, but it wouldn't play on my Mac. And YES I have the official DIVX codec; I was watching Seinfeld DIVX .AVIs earlier.

Thanks for the WMV. I'll try the AVIs on my PC later to see if they work there.

For the WMV that I uploaded, all you need is Windows Media Player, or at least WMCodec8. Chances are you have it on your machine already.

I tried that.

I'm running on old mac software here. I downloaded the last version of Realplayer for system 9 but it wasn't good enough. I need to strip my computer and load up system X. If you know of anything that'll let me watch those movies on system 9, let me know. I'll download it right away.

All Psow members owe you a lot for having proven the sealed can be unsealed by killing monsters with it.

The only question mark in my mind will be how many kills you need exactly to unseal it.
But this small question mark will stay in the shadows of your great topic where you finally proved us it is possible to unseal that dam sword http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Wow. I guess its time for me to dust off my RAmar and get started on doing East and West Tower again. I havent really played as him in months due to the fact that doing ET/WT was getting boring going solo and knowing that even after I found the SJ, it would only be a trophy rare. Well, congratulations Aura. I wish I could have been there to see it, or at least be one of the few that you mailed about it :/

congratulations! I d/l the low quality vids that were created and they worked fine on Media Player - an amazing sight!

I'm offline and as such haven't even tried searching for a Sealed J sword... since my highest skyly is my lvl 130 HUcast and he doesn't quite do the CCA as fast as I'd like -.-

anyway, thank you for the wonderful news!

Wow, that's just incredible... It finally happened!

Not sure if it's an entirely good thing though. On one hand, it's legitly possible to get the best sword in the game. On the other hand, it will be harder to tell legits from non-legits now, because they can lie and say that they unsealed theirs too. Let's just hope that Red Ring never becomes legit so I can pick out the liars. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Hmmm...
In the pinned topic, it mentions that the holder of the Sealed J can see how many enemies they have killed, but the other players can't.
I had an Sealed J a long time ago, and tried to go for the 23k unseal without unequipping (as was previously believed).
But I didn't get a visible increase in kill count as I killed enmies one by one, also I cna't see this featured in the videos.
So am I to assume you can't actually se how many you've killed, you just have to estimate?

There is no actual visible on the TV kill count. There is a bit of hidden game data that counts this. By "other people seeing this" it means what their systems see when they are shown the sword, or something like that...

Yes, you do have to keep count of enemies killed.

The way the glitch works, if I understand correctly is ok lets say you just found an SJS and have NO kills on it. You and a friend go into a level and you use the SJS to kill 10 enemies. Now to YOU the SJS has 10 kills on it. To your friend it has 0. If you then hand the SJS to your friend and he kills 5 enemies to him the SJS has 5 kills but to you it still only has 10. You will sync up whenever the sword is banked and then taken back out. So if your friend piped up and banked the SJS and took it back out and gave it back to you, it would have 5 kills on it. So always bank your SJS before letting a friend see it or you might lose some kills.

Also, if you reach 23k and you see the USE option, you should go bank the SJS so your friends also see it as having 23k or else when you unseal it your friends will still see it as an SJS.

I don't understand what the point of the description is. "Ancient sword with its power sealed by an unknown stamp. The seal opens when all techniques are used." Is that just supposed to confuse people or has that been mistranslated? That has nothing to do with killing 23,000 enemies. I know that it has been brought up before, but now were sure that its unsealed by killing.
Btw I did search for a japanese translation in the forums but my internet speed has been quite slow lately, so it won't load.

If you're up for a good time, you should read the Ended theory thread. We discussed this very topic at length. We pretty much decided that it was just cryptic BS. The kill count is what unseals it. silly sonic team

Congrats on the SJ Red hehe, keep at it. Just to clarify things... you can unequip and equip as you please but kill counter will only increase if you've given the enemy the final blow. You'll take notice of this cause when you do kill an enemy you get more exp, as opposed to just tagging. Also I did nothing out of the ordinary when trying to unseal the J-Sword; just good old rare hunting and what not.

Okay, this is my problem with ADE's attitude about the sealed-j. Yesterday, I saw him say,

"I SHOULD have been the one to unseal it!"

By the way, he didn't believe your videos were real, and he invited you to do an anatomically impossible act of reproduction with yourself, Auracom.

...Last week, a friend of his joined him for a few tower runs. Apparently, they've known each other for a while, and ADE trusts this friend well enough to let him mooch along on ADE's SJS hunt. This friend called the Yamigirasu.

Lo and behold, the Yami drops, and ADE doesn't stop whining about it for DAYS. Seriously.

"You don't deserve a rare, I deserve a rare!"

"You join me for one run and get the item? Bull*#&@!"

"You got a HP yesterday, that should have been all the rares you got for the week!"

...Okay, the man has reason to be disgruntled. I can accept that. But if he ain't having fun playing the game, and ain't having fun searching for the J-Sword, and doesn't like the fact that at least half the players in his block dupe to back up items and the like, then...

Why does he keep renewing his hunter's license?

GAH! STFU ADE!!!

...Oh, and congrats, Auracom. Wish I had an SJS... I envy that shininess, now...

Aug 13, 2004, 06:18 PM
Well ADE shouldn't wine, he knows the SSJ is a very rare drop. If you are going to search for it you are bound to be dissapointed. BTW if he "only" did a little over 700 tower runs that means he has killed about 5600 Gi-Gues(assuming their all east towers). Thats a lot but still less then half of the drop rate(1/12603).

He's just jealous of Auracom.

After listening to him whine a bit, I offer my Lv 200 RAmarl to help him in his SJS hunt, he accepts gladly.

He launches quest, being Skyly, and starts saying "if Gi Gue drops anything red, don't go near it. It's easy to carry a PD and pick the SJS, drop the PD and say 'it was just a PD'"
WTF ? if he didn't trust me in the first place, why did he accept my offer ?
And on our first ET run, MKB drops, he went on whining like "I can only find shit", etc.
If I knew I'd never used my Guld Milla >__< just to hear him say "I'm the only Lv 200 that has not found any 11 star weapon"

Yeah thinking too much may be his problem, but geez, let go...

Auracom was the first with determination and patience enough to accomplish a feat he was not even sure will work in the end; he deserves congratulations, not bitching.

Good to see I'm not the only one who heard that...
Something along the lines of, 'and if you do, I'll never play with you again' thing in there too. I didn't know if he was joking or at first or what.
Now I'm sure he would probably hold true to that. 0.o That is honestly way to extreme to even be saying to people--who I at least thought-- you were friends with.

I was there after that mkb incident too (yeah, that's where I met you Kef), and I love how you just sorta drifted off into another game. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif

I pay very little attention to ADE now, unless I'm looking for a good laugh. Regarding Auracom unsealing the J-Sword, ADE said "but I was supposed to unseal it!" How can someone so immature be taken seriously? I have yet to find a way to make him stop whining about the tiniest little problems. He cries if he doesn't get his J-Sword. He cries if someone else finds a decent rares. He cries if someone backs up a rare weapon. He calls people liars if they back up weapons, even myself, despite the fact that I'm completely honest about backing up items and even having several non-legit characters. I believe that he needs to get some medicine for whatever the hell disorder he has, just so he can move on and lead a functional life.

And to f00l, regarding the two legit TJ swords: those are the only two we know about, it is entirely possible for a person to not post what they have done on PSOW/GFAQS/IGN/whatever. For all we know, there could be 10 legit TJ swords floating around, and a dupe user could easily say that they unsealed it a few days after Auracom did because they got inspired.

if i get FSOd'd, deleteing all my unequipped items, will the kill counter on the sealed j-sword be reset as well? i ask because when you reselect the character after a fsod, it says that item data and mesata have been deleted. would having this happen reset the kill count?

well, since you are new here, this minor bump can be overlooked, just be sure to read the rules next time
also, this is aura's big sjs topic, i don't wanna lock it.. just because of this bump

for your answer, the sword has a hidden counter.. remove it, bank it, or fsod with it equipped do not affect the counter

rest assure that the counter will continue to go up if you deliver the killing blow every time

Hey, that was no offend Jason. I just think it can be put down as a fact. Because Sealed J-Sword is reserved to one section ID, and is still pretty hard to come by, Lavis Cannon is one of the so called ultimate weapons, like Psycho Wand, Heaven Punisher and Agito 1975 and is therefore obtainable by all section IDs.
And even on a few IDs (im not speaking of Redria) Lavis Cannon seems quite a bit easier to get than Sealed J-Sword.
But i didnt want to get into a dispute with you. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif

Dude, Lavis Cannon is fucking EASY to get. Make REDRIA. Level REDRIA. Load up Addicting Food. Proceed to Cave 2. Split slime. Pipe. Split slime. Pipe. Repeat. Find Pouilly. Kill Pouilly. Growl. Proceed to next slime. Split. Pipe. Repeat. Find another Pouilly. Kill Pouilly. Swear. Repeat entire process until red box with cyan lettering appears. I mean, hell, it took me three days to get a Lavis. >_>; We're not talking about Double Cannon, Jason, just Lavis, which is PISS simple to get. Sealed-J, on the other hand, is FAR more difficult of a drop.

And I join with the others in "..." at Blue-Hawk.

If Aura says he unsealed it, it's unsealed. If he provided no proof at all, I would still believe him. Aura is a PSO psychopath. O_o; I mean, dude, he's corrupted a L200 and still keeps playing, and I know him to be a legit, honest, trustworthy player. As I said, if Aura says it's been unsealed, it's been unsealed. >_>;

Make SKYLY. Level SKYLY. Proceed to Seaside. Go kill Gi Gue. Growl. Repeat. Kill another Gi Gue. Swear. Repeat entire process until red box with cyan lettering appears. No worries of screwing up with splitting as there is no splitting, plus no piping. But if you know the drop rate, enlight me.

1/28808, as I recall. From a MINIBOSS. Really hard online, virtually impossible offline. Even the PURPLENUM Lavis Cannon is hard, and that's the same rate off of Tollaws, which you can get a shitload of in a Lost Heat Sword. >_>; Trust me, Sealed-J is a LOT harder than Lavis. And even if you do have online, Tower is not a laughing matter. You have to know what you're doing, and have the levels and support and proper weapons to do it. >_>;

Okay Ian, that drop rate alone being the only enemy (mini boss O.o) you can get the SJS from, got my opinion changed. It is extremely painful to get through to that enemy each time, too. Too time consuming for me, for now.

Mr. Cynic wants us to go to his house and personally unseal a Sealed-J in his face before he will change his fucking mind; as if we care.

It's one thing to disbelieve something but please don't label something as bullshit just because you happen to think your opinion is worth more than the crap it is.

There's always somebody who thinks he has a point to make being an obstinate fool. It's only a game sheesh, I doubt someone with enough skill to edit a video so convincingly would even fucking bother doing so. Maybe if these were pictures that could easily have been photoshopped then you might have a reason to put on your 'I'm so fucking sceptical' act.

BTW good luck unsealing your Lavis Cannon, Jason http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif. 76 Torrs...OUCH http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_disapprove.gif.

Ian, it's 1/12k off a Gi Gue, and Lavis is 1/28808 off a Tollaw in Purplenum, which makes Lavis a lot easier than SJS, not even using Redria.

And don't talk about Redria slimes, Ian ;-; I'm 0/57 on them http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gifiapprove:

But Ian, you could never find lavis cannon with a redria even doing the pipping process over and over again. It can happen just as long as the drop rate is lower than 100% (much lower by the way) and this counts for all the other itens in PSO. You just say that it's easy coz you found it in 3 days.

I just need to confirm that everything about unsealing the sword that aura says is true. I spent the last few weeks killing to unseal the SJS that has rotted in my bank for over a year. I never used it because when I found it, my Srank sword was better. LOL.
Anyhow, I kept a careful count and came up with 30k kills before it unsealed. Im sure of it. NOw unless I got 2thousand kills a year ago that I forgot about, then this could very well be the number. I know for CERTAIN it wasnt 40k! not even close.

So really I need to THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH!!! I didnt believe it either! not till that video. Now I have a video of my own on VHS. Ill get it on here some day when I can convert it to a better format.

But sadly, unsealing the sword hasnt been all Id hope for. I CANT use it!!! You see, I alwasy play in rooms labeled "Legit" and whenever someone sees it they call me all kinds of nasty things. Its not to fun... Only a few of them will let me show it in the trade window and are convinced by the lack of any %s and it only being ground to +44. But sadly even this doesnt convince people. Its a sad sad world full of skeptics (myself once one of them).

So goodluck to you everyone and again THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!

Eh, don't let other's let you down. All that matters is that you know it's legit. It's a very rare find, but it is findable, so I believe you. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif Just play on through, if you're criticized by other legits continuously in one game, then just leave. It's always best to have a small group of friends that absolutely trust you, so you can pull out any item you want and they won't criticize you.

I sometimes feel that way about my legit BKB. That, and I'm really frightened of losing it to FSOD. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif But I have a group of friends that know I'm legit and trust me, and I trust them as well. I'm glad to be their friends and help them out on quests. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Oh, and although I've said it to you on PSO, congrats Aura! It's good to see that you confirmed one of PSO's biggest mysteries. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Yep, thats one thing thats sad. After looking for a uber-rare item you play with people online and sometimes they don't believe you're legit because (Just like almost everyone else) before you get the rare you were just as stubborn in believing it was legit as anyone else. Its really too bad. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

EDIT: Didn't see Hucasts_rock's post, in answer to that: Yep, having friends that stick with you is awesome, but I mean't that if you go and randomly go into a legit game, you'll be (most of the time) critized. Having good friends that trust you is awesome though. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Awesome!!!
And looks like the SJS hunt has been made easier.
In the new phantasmagoric quest is possible to keep a rate of nearly 1 gi gue per minute. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

If that's true then it's only (yes it is still a lot) 210 hours or so of hunting to get a Sealed-J. Hmm...I might try that one day.

meh, we dont need no stinking estimated time!

the drop could come on Gi Gue 1 or Gi Gue 1,000,000. time has no relevance when hunting such a rare item. you might as well be in a time warp.

Ok im not quite sure what you mean by legit. My friend made a Sealed-J Sword by hacking the itemrt file or somthing and gave it to me. It has no %'s and im xbox offline only. Would this J-sword be unsealable? Or must it come from a Gi-Gue?

Thanks

You can only unseal legit Sealed J-Swords or dupes of legit Sealed J-Swords, AFAIK.

You're kidding me right? You said it right there and answered your own question, see..look = My friend made a Sealed-J Sword by hacking the itemrt file or somthing

that right there tells you that its not legit. The one you have would be a hacked item.
