View Full Version : A bit of loss leads to a bit of gain?

Perhaps so.
Online earlier, start a tower run with one other friend. Get ingame fsod in the third room.
I lose my lovely Yas9000, but luckily keep my oh so easily pipable FS /end sarcasm.

Yeah, not the greatest loss in the world, but I did really love that gun.

But later on I continue doing my brief MA2 runs for a ancient saber, skyly. Sure enough, I finally get one. (and btw, I saw 2 hildetorrs before i got the wep, and the odds for that are pretty =/)

But my biggest point, I lost my stuff because I let myself slip into an overconfident state. I thought that since I hadn't FSOD'd in so long, that it wouldn't happen to me. And the fact that there were only 2 of us made me even more 'arrogant'.
Completely stupid on my part, and that's kinda what makes me http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif the most; knowing I could've easily avoided this.
Ah well...what's done is done i suppose.
Live and learn.
Keep your rares safe in their bank. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_yes.gif

Oh, wow. I'm sorry about the Yas9000. I've been looking for one off and on myself. Congrats on the Ancient Saber though (and with nice percents too).

The only thing I'm really worried about concerning online play is FSOD. For the moment I'm offline only. I plan on only carrying one weapon at a time http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif.

not quite a rant, but discussions about item lost to fsod, etc are in rants..

on topic, this is a lesson to all who plays online while carrying multiple rares
at fsod, you can only keep what you are equipping.. say by-by to all unequipped =]
the more weps you carry the more you lose - sad but true!

Yeah...I wasn't quite sure weather to put this in rants or the normal item discussion.
Hehe I didn't want it to be a rant, more a small story of my stupidity. ^_^;
But this makes my second item lost story moved here, so I think I got the picture from now on. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_yes.gif

This is why you either move to PSOBB or make back-up dupes.

Really, if you continue to play on GC without making back-up dupes in case of FSOD, I honestly have no pity for you. When I was online with GC, I lost the same bloody Red Partisan to FSOD 4 times. Plus my Red Handgun, my Demoltion Comet... Depends what I had equipped at the time. I made backup dupes before I ever once set foot online. I still have all my items I 'lost'. You can indeed take countermeasures. Yeah, it's not intended in the game to be able to dupe, but then, it's not intended to lose your stuff to FSOD, either. Glitch to counter a glitch, or make yourself mostly useless by only ever carrying one weapon. ...That you can still lose. *shrug*

Or just come to the dark side of PSOBB, where the worst thing that ever happens is getting DCed because you hit alt+esc instead of alt+`. XP

I'm really sorry for your loss, I'd be pissed too.

This is quite n00by and OT, but could someone give me a brief description of FSOD and what it does?

FSOD : The screen freezes and you can no longer do anything - ie same as a crash. When you re-start the game, it tells you that you did'nt end the game properly, and you lose anything your character was carrying that wasn't equipped.
The same thing happens if you are on-line and you suffer a power cut / power out. I was at the check counter swapping weapons and items when, suddenly, no electricity! Arrgh, goodbye to Srank Twin, Guardianna, Holy Ray and an unequipped mag.
Once you have suffered this, you won't be so careless again!!

Aye, I usually do, but when I found my yas, I was in the epII lobby obviously, and too lazy to make that guy go all the way to the counter. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif
And I just forgot to back it up later...
Hmm...

Argh, that sucks that you lost your Yasminkov. Oh well, you won't forget to dupe backups of good weapons anymore, eh? http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

And congrats on Ancient Saber, one of the most stylish weapons EVAR.

Eww, I see. Yeah, Ep2 duping is rather blech. My solution to that was if I ever found something REALLY good, especially if I'd been looking for it for a while, was to simply DC right then and there and go offline and dupe/bank it. Never gotten FSOD warping up or down from P2, but I've gotten it in-game, and disgustingly, leaving the bank. (Holy HELL was that scary - It was JUST before the save, too. >_< Half a second later and I would have corrupted)

So OK, I will pity you. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif That sucks. :-/

Heh, but the thing was that I had neither really looked for it (like I've said before, 1 run) and I was offline anyways. When I did find that ancient saber, I did D/C without a second thought.

And I have BSODd as well...once. in fact, that's when I lost my Rico's Earring.
Go me! cause guess who forgot to back that up too?
