does short/shock status affect humans, newmans and androids, or is it just androids? i've always assumed it was a droid only status condition, but i double-checked myself and ran a forum search. it seems as if everyone is affected by shorts in ep1&2. is this true? i ask because this will greatly affect the number of cure/shock units i have to pipe. thanks in advance.

Yeah, it affects everyone. However, when electric attacks are involved, it seems that droids get it more often, IMO.

Yeah, all character classes are affected by the shock status. It get's really annoying in Ep. 2 mountain without a nice cure/shock equipped.

Now that you mention it, I really need to pipe myself one as well.

If I were you I would pipe alot of Cure/Shocks. Eventually everyone is going to need one, so you will be the one people will look for to trade with http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif.

heh. not a bad idea at all.

thanks for all the help, everyone. i was kinda hoping that short wouldn't affect humans and newmans, but then in about twenty five minutes of piping i picked up two cure/shock units. considering how quick that was, it won't be hard for me to pick up the five more i need and as such i'm not as disappointed about shock affecting all races. (though i fail to see the logic in humans and newmans being "shorted out".)

It was android only back on DC. I was wroth to discover that Humans/Newmen could also be aflicted by this most annoying status condition in eps 1&2. I think really the only places you need this unit are CCA, mines, and maybe forest if you're piping 'torrs (but you know all about 'torrs http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif). There might be some other areas that I can't think of right now.

Without a Cure/Shock, I'll be staying away from Center Contral. Without a Cure/Shock, it is more of a pain to be fighting groups of Hildelts. Without a Cure/Shock, it is also more of a pain to be fighting a boss of Mines in Ultimate. And without a Cure/Shock, I'll be having fear of the boss of Spaceship. Of course a Cure/Shock would be worth it! If you have a character of a Redria ID, you can easily pipe for one from a Hildeblue in Very Hard mode. Not too hard doing so in an offline quest of Forest of Sorrow. Like Quo said, the shock status only affect androids on the Dreamcast versions.

EDIT: If your equipments have great lightning resistance, don't worry much about getting one.

http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif The very first one of Ultimate Mode dropped me a God Hand. That boss didn't really bother me of the shocking.

He doesn't do his lightning attack all that often. You'd probably be OK just bringing Sol atomizers. Same thing goes for Gol Dragon and Vol Opt V2, but they're a bit more iffy since they do their lighting attacks more frequently. It really depends on how fast you can kill them to determine if you'd be all right with Sols or if you'd need a cure/shock.

Edit: Concerning Vol Opt, cure/shock would probably be more useful in the lower difficulty modes. In ultimate he mixes up his attacks between lightning fire and ice. In normal - Vhard he only uses Lightning.

But you can only hold 10 at a time. I did run out, and my character was weak back then.

Well, like I said, it really depends on how fast you can kill the boss. If you can kill him before you run out of sols, that might be the way to go. Otherwise, a cure/shock will do the trick.

I understand how you people feel completely. A cure/shock comes in handy big time on Ep.2. KILL THE MONKEYS!! http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_quickdraw.gif
I hate them with a passion.
HATE ENTIRELY!!! http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_argh.gif
But with my ranger and force of course I don't need cure/shocks when you can attack from a distance. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

I heard that cure/shock was suppost to only truly be needed for androids. That Sega made a mistake on making every character having the chance of getting shocked. Since in it's description it says "Cures the effects of a short". AKA - short circuit, which would be androids only. Not humans.

The opposite is true.

i was wondering this myself. it seems odd that humans a newmans would be affected by a short, and that makes me think that perhaps sonic team goofed here.

anyway, i've collected five out of the eight cure/shocks i needed, so it turned out to be fairly easy (i got 'em all in one night).
