i think i made a post about this a while back. well, since then, i have gone through an Apple iPod 15GB. i returned it because it wouldnt support more than half my music. then i got the Philips recording Jukebox. it organized songs by name, and if i got it off limewire, it wouldnt have an artist, so my "No Artist" section became more crowded than a Japanese hotel. anyways, i have been looking around recently and still have no decision made. the good deals are :Creative Labs Zen Xtra, Creative Labs Zen Touch Xtra(new on amazon), Rio Karma, the iRiver Jukebox, and the Dell DJ. if anyone can give a suggestion, I am listening. If you recommend a different one, I'll check it out.

I would recommend the Rio Karma - it's fairly compact, holds 20 GB and has a very intuitive, user-friendly OS. You can even shuffle around songs in playlists when you're away from the computer (if you have to). It's a nice little piece of machinery.

Though some people here may disagree with the price, saying that it's cheaper to make your own MP3 player from parts you order on the internet. Whores...

i typed up a sane post a few hours ago, but it got deleted.
anywho ...

today, i saw an ad in the circuit city thingy that the nomad thingy (60 gb) was selling for $299.99. It's probably only for the circuit cities around NY or something. It'll probably be gone in a week though.

On the other hand, IMO, your best disk would be Sony's new MD. the disks hold 1 gb apiece. Keep in mind the disks are about two square inches. You can either use mp3s, or sony's compressed format. I think it's LP4, but I'm unsure.
And the thing runs on a AA battery that lasts about 72 hours.

AA batteries pwn rechargables because rechargables permanently die eventually.

Oh, and sony stuff is a lot sexier than most of that hd mp3 junk http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Does anyone know a decent MP3 player that can hold a fairly large amount of music, and doesn't cost like 300 dollars?

I'm with whoever said Sony MiniDisc players. I bought one last summer and I use it all day long when I'm at work or school. I change the battery very rarely(most energy use is when you are transferring songs to a disc).

try richer sounds. dunno if they have that shop, but i heard they have shops all around the world.

i'm getting an ipod for christmas, mainly because cd players are annoyingly jumpy in a van/car.

well, if they are hitachi. STAY CLEAR OF THAT MAKE.
