Holy.
Cow.

I just logged onto my Yahoo! hosted website and looked at my site statistics, and... my services have just been upgraded.

2GB disk-space.
25GB bandwidth.

12.00 a month.

EDIT: Their basic packages were updated too (not just mine). So, anyone can get this offer too.

BLUEHOST (http://www.bluehost.com/tell_me_more.html) is half the price and they offer 50GB of monthly bandwidth traffic. You only get 1GB of webspace but honestly how many people here would need even close to that lol. Also take into account that Bluehost offers PHP and MySQL (needed for having any type of installed forums) whereas Yahoo doesn't. Bluehost gives you 10 Mysql databases right off the bat. Bluehost also offers Perl support whereas yahoo doesn't. Yahoo also doesn't offer SSL secure server service like Bluehost does. Bluehost charges $6.95 a month.

To be honest if you look at the features yahoo offers and the price they are charging, its kind of a rip off http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Check out the feature for each:

I hate you VioletSkye. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif
Well, the thing I like about Yahoo! is that I'm extremely familiar with the interface and tools.

Thread should die now. I was just really excited at the upgrade. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

EDIT: So, on a free day I could transfer my site over to a new account, keep the URL and save $6 a month?

Indeed http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif and you can set up some nice forums (phpbb is awesome free forum software) if you want just for fun. You'll get double the bandwidth traffic each month and alot more feature including 1000 pop email accounts and 1000 ftp accounts. They support practically everything and I've used them alot when setting up sites for professional clients and they rock!!!!

Okay, tell me where to go for cheap webspace on a server that supports ASP. I haven't been looking that hard, but I thought it would be cool to mess around with some ASP. My dad got me a book, he teaches in the information technology department at a local college. The power of free computer textbooks! http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif Fun.

As soon as I get my server up and running, I'll give you hosting free. The admins of my game and I are looking into buying one for the game server to run on, and we'll most likely be offering some webhosting as well as soon as we get it stable. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

Well, right now I've got a little project for my friends' garage band, right now using my Dad's webspace. However, we're probably going to need some more bandwidth because they want music on the website eventually. And I can't remember how much bandwidth we've got currently, but I know it won't be enough once we A. Get music up B. Get more pictures up C. Once we get more gigs, advertise the band, etc. our traffic is going to go up (I hope). So, if you were to hook us up for free, that would be amazingly awesome. I'd worship you. And once I got the merchandise thingies going, I'd give you free stuff. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif (might be a while, though)
