Hey there everyone, Tinnmann here to ask another blindingly stupid question. So here's the deal. I'm doing this deal with EB Games, where if I buy three Dreamcast of $5 or more, I get the system free, go figure. Anyway, I"m thinking about getting the origional PSOs somewhere in there, but I'm worried about getting the online part of Phantasy Star Online out of 'em. Any comments, answers, prophecies, server address, etc. you could toss my way to help my decision making? God forbid I should waste a whole five bucks...

Edit: Well I'll darned, there's a thread ajust this very topic right above here. Well, I"m to lazy to press the back button again anyway. I'd still like some response though, even tips on whether or not it would be a good buy, or even other good DC games.

Get PSO v2, Typing of the Dead, and Skies of Arcadia. Then, buy a keyboard. Then find some way to play v2 online. *cough* I've never had a DreamCast, but those are three games that I would buy. And welcome to PSOW.

And read the fucking forum rules/stickies. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

You could also replace Typing of the Dead with Grandia 2. Both great games http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_yes.gif

Ah, I see. It seems there are rules against my thread. Well then, forget the whole asking for servers and such, I'm officialy converting this into a "discussion" thread. Say public servers where labeled as "legal", would the average Joe (much like myself) be able to gain accesss to them, and what tools (cables and such) would be needed to do so. Keep in mind this is all hypothetical of course.

Also, concerning the Dreamcast deal, I have no previous knowledge of the system, or it's games. Allways been a Nintendo man myself. So any game suggestions would be greatly appriciated.

In theory, for any game that had an online server, you'd need a utility capable of changing a memory address, the modem adapter or BBA, and the game you wish to play. There may be more to it depending on the game (I've heard of people working on getting AFO back up), but those would be the basics.

My question regarding that is, if the server software is reverse engineered (which the PSO server software is not, hence illegal, and unable to be spoken of here), if the AFO server were ever finished, would the existence of the servers attract Sega's attention?

In any case, if you go find a copy of PSO V2 JP, you could always play on those servers. ^_^
