Ah, what I wouldn't do to play the very first beta of PSO, with Grass Assasins in te Forest, a completely different city, different chat bubbles....

By the way, I'll look, I think I know where a hi res version is.

EDIT: No Hi-Res version, but I found these, which are inspiring me to get on PSO right NOW.

pso.mpg (3.18 MB) (http://www.getintothegame.net/pso.mpg)
pso.mov (7.03 MB) (http://www.getintothegame.net/pso.mov)

They're from IGN.

Step on a button, and make sure there isn't a trap there? http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

It appeared as though a hildebear was in the first room of forest 1, imagine that, going down for the first time, seeing a big cuddely bear and getting thwamped straight away.

I remember when my cousin was getting me into this. He was telling me about it and i wanted to see what it really looked like and he showed me the video on my computer. I was hooked on it. When we got back to his house he played it and the next day i bought it.

Yeah, the vids are cool. Did you notice that knife combo? The saber combo was different too.
And the teleport thing? It looked 100times better!
Why didn't they let the game as that? I mean, the version that we got rocks, I love it, but when you see what they had planned... damn.

.... why did they take out some elements? like pushing that block thing, and even some of the weapon animations were changed like you see a hune doing a uppercut with daggers... I think they should
use all of their initial ideas plus new ones in BB or PSU.

I think that the block-pushing would have been just as thought-provoking as standing on the buttons, but would take more time. Plus, every game has box-pushing, PSO wanted to be different. And stopping to push around blocks would take too much time from the bread and butter of PSO: it would interrupt the rhythm of mindlessly slaughtering monsters.

As for the weapon animation, well, we've gotten jaded, since we've been seeing the same animations since DC v1. It would have been way cool to have more weapons, different animations, etc. in the game. Too bad, I guess it would have taken up too much space, or something like that.

True that we've gotten used to the one that's out now,and it would have been the other way around if we had those animations instead. Maybe not, though. What would have been even better is if the animation when you attacked was random between those two or something.

I've never seen those videos before, and if I ever saw them before I started playing,I probably would have bought it straight away. I first got hooked when a friend of mine let me play it for a few hours. I got to level 10,and once I left,I begged my parents to get that game. Fortunately,I managed to get it for only $15! http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif In any case, these movies are making me want to play again.

'Play with 6,000,000,000 people worldwide!'

If I'm not mistaken, didn't that statement get SEGA into trouble by advertising regulators for being misleading? They had to cancel all their adverts for the game because of that.
