View Full Version : Rare Enemy Normal Mode Rate?

I know the rare enemy appearance rate has generally been excepted as 1/51x (can't remember what the exact number is though).

But is that ratio smaller in normal mode? It seems ridiculously easy to find rare enemies in Normal mode.

For the past 2 months, I haven't seen a single rare enemy. So, yesterday, my friend comes over. We make 2 new characters, and we do the VR Temple. We find a Nar Lily. Yay.

Now, just a few minutes ago, my friend loads up his character and does Normal Mode Forest. And lo and behold, 3 rooms later, he finds an Al Rappy.

Any explanation, or it's just a huge coincidence? (Like finding the Booma's Arm in normal which is MUCH rarer tham some of the things I actually want http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_disapprove.gif )

The rates that are supposed to exist are something like 1/512, others also say 1/256, or like it was supposed on Dreamcast, 1/1024.
But nobody has ever found any appearance rates, unlike the drop rates of enemies or boxes.
But like i already said, i believe that enemy appearance could be connected to the map, and not by simple appearance rate.

So, i think theres no difference in normal mode. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif

PSO is very random. You might find 10 mils in run, or not find a rare enemy for a month. One time I found 4 Mil Lilys in a span of 50 pipes. Another time it took over 150 pipes for 1 to appear. Its all luck.

in NORMAL it is 512. in ULTIMATE it is 512. in EVERY OTHER difficulty, it is 512.

why are you having such a hard time understanding this?

Because theres no proof, its an accepted number, nothing else.

He's right about this KaFKa. There is no solid proof of this. For all we know, the rates could be different. It sure as well seems like it to me. (3x nars, 1x al rappy on normal, 1x nar and 1x hildeblue on hard http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_cry.gif)

Actually its he. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif

And theres even proof or at least a hint that it might be generated by map, not by appearance rate.

512. This is like all those topics of people not believing drop rates because their individual results did not exactly match the averages.

But why the hell would you want to find a rare monster in normal?

Dont worry, i got this name from a female character in a game. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif
That, and i liked the name before.

And Tycho, i repeat, there is no proof on this. Im not saying this because i was fooled by my personal experience of rare enemy appearance.
The number 1/512 has never been found anywhere in the game file. In fact, there are many things that have never been found, like box drop anything rates or boss drop anything rates. 1/512 is merely an accepted number, while drop rates are proven and calculated with the help of enemy drop anything rates.
I already said this in another thread: Barubary said that it was possible to hack a map offline, and get a Love Rappy in the very same spot every time the map was hacked.
Barubary, or anybody who has hacker skills, never managed to get a certain enemy drop a certain item. And if rare enemies would really appear at a rate of 1/512, it would use a randomizer and would work like the enemy drop rates, meaning Barubary would also be able to hack an enemy to drop a certain item.

Of course, you can make an average of rare enemy appearance by counting, but that doesnt mean that thats the way the game calculates it, even if its more or less accurate.
Thats why i say, its an accepted number.
