We could see THIS (http://gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=020245) coming a mile away, but really!

That's just going to create a higher demand for the old models for top-loaders, mod-chips, and HD loaders, though... -_-;

Hmm, problematics... no HD support, top-loading (no drawer), included modem is analog only, current PS2 multitap isn't compatible, hmm.

Umm... so, who's getting one? XD

[EDIT: speeling, meh]

the new design is definately smaller, more compact, but not very interesting
those who already have 1 might as well skip it

I'd rather get the original PS2. Thanks to this slimmie, the old model's price will drop a bit since every fanboy and their mother will be rushing to get the new one.

I think the old model will stay the same price due to the new designs lack of hard drive capability.

My honest Opinion, I think the new one is suprisingly nice. I already have a Ps2, but if I didn't and I didn't care about the option of being able to use the HD, I'd get one of these. I really like how thin it is.

Frankly, I don't like it. The slimmer size and lack of ejecting drive would make it much harder to fit into my entertainment section. Granted, it's not that tight together but it would just bother me. Besides, I already have a PS2 with a modem and HDD, why do I need a HDD-less PSTwo?

I still wonder why people try to exactly fit units that need to breath into tight entertainment centers.

I'd love to see pictures of your entertainment system. I don't have a problem with the top-loading type, forces a person to keep it out somewhat so that the blazing hot components inside can actually get a good circulation of air, which is why none of my systems have ever died.

Working at nintendo a couple years back, i had seen WAY TOO MANY GC's that were fried because kids would try and fit the units between a wall of an entertainment system and a TV that had been on for hours, with no space between them both.. = dead 80% more than if one didn't do this.

No sony, bad bad sony. Making a slimmer PS2 will not help you.

Bad bad sony, no cookies for you.

That's interesting. There's also a mini Super Nintendo, I've had read things about Sony "copying" the Super Nintendo. Long story.

... I like it. Not that I'd buy it, but I think it looks very sleek, which is defenitely a bonus if you live in a very small apartment ala Japan, being one of the reasons that behemoth of a system, the xbox, didn't do so well over there.

You mean how the Playstation was originally the Super Nintendo CD? Cause it was.

Actually, the redisigned PlayStation, PSOne, sold a bunch of units. I expect the PSTwo will do the same.

Also, besides the redesigned SNES, there is also a redesigned NES. It seems like the most popular system of each generation gets a make-over.

I'm with Kodia.

The new model does look cooler and junk. But, now I'm just gonna wait till the price of the original PS2 drops. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_yes.gif

Guess PS2 hasn't been selling well so marketing decided on a new way for people to get excited about an old product.

Rock on.

No HD? forget it, I'm sticking with the original model so I can keep using the HD loader.

Sony are greedy and money hungry foooooooooo's.

Minidisk players, CD players, TV's, Consoles, DVD players, and more. They even remake consoles, what's next, MiniStationCDVD 2. Although that is a catchy name, too creative for Sony.

I think they should have decreased it's length instead of its width.

You do know that Nintendo release two versions of the NES and SNES, along with multiple versions of the Game Boy, right?

Not to mention the many, many color swaps and whatnot they did with the N64. Giant Pikachu N64, anyone?

I had seen versions of the nintendo that had never been released when I worked at Nintendo. in the sop they have a little museum where you could check out prototypes and stuff.
