Does it cost an extra charge other than the initial xbox live cost? Just wondering. I've heard different things from different people...

Yes. $8.95 US to Sega/ST (I forget exactly which one).

Speaking of PSO on xbox, my cousin got it last night, and it said that he needs xbox live to even play the offline game. Luckily, he is getting xbox live at christmas, but why do they require that? They didn't require it for the cube version, so why did they require it on xbox?

If I remember correctly, the XBox version stores one of the 3 parts of the GC save into the XBox Live data. I believe it is the Guild Card data.

Live is used on XBOX instead of the Serial No. system on GC and DC. That's the only reason why PSO needs XBOX Live for offline play. Look for a game where it offers two month of trial XBOXLive and use that to reg the game.
