i was looking at the item comparison and noticed there is both an srank sword and an srank swords, what's the difference? do they look different?

Srank sword is a sword, Srank swords is a twin sword - like musashi.

No. You get them from challenge mode. Sword from Episode 1; Swords from Episode 2.
