Yay, a near useful thread.
Babelfish, Minhiro Japan (http://www.sonicteam.com/psogc/minhiro/event/event61.html), blah.
I'm too lazy to put it into proper English, like anyone would care anyway, point is, the quest will be up in about a week.

From what I can gather, the MA1 quest from DC is back, the quest spans some EP1 areas, at least Caves, Mines and Ruins, teams will get a number of points equal to the number of players that will make it to the end, and Sonic Team will gib us something when we get a total of 10,000 points. Yay~, now give Black Ring or whatever.

I never played the original DC quest, so I don't know too much about it. Kefka, tell me whether the prizes are worth it when the quest is up. xP

Oh, not to forget, since each player in each run will have one particular point number, it might be like it was in the Edy Cup for Blue Burst, where people got Samba Maracas or stuff like that for getting kill number 300,000.

I hope this quest will be fun.

Babelfish translation, with some untranslated parts translated manually:

Confidence was won in DC edition PSO, that ' MAXIMUM ATTACK ', adding the new element of the surprise, appearance to GC edition PSO!

Getting over the various gimmicks and the countless enemy, to achieve 10000 points is it possible for you?

New order in hunters. In order that ten thousand points are accumulated, it probably will scamper Ragol.

To the maximum of 4 people play the current QUEST which becomes possible.
While designating also restriction time as the air, pushing down many enemies as much as possible, it will get the point.

Simply, if only the enemy is pushed down, the scene which is not advanced first...?

It was not in DC edition, QUEST after that it is added.
hunters which moves to special step is expected, mono....

It became new, with your own eyes, please verify the meaning "of MAXIMUM ATTACK", by all means. 1/11 it will start!

I hope they release the Weapons Shields and/or the Black Ring =/ otherwise this quest is useless, played it hundreds of times already, there are better quests.

On DC, you would earn badges then exchange them for some weapons. Since the badges are there on GC, maybe the system will remain?

I hope at 10,000 points we'll get more than a new music disk... even though 10,000 isn't all that much.

Now if only a thousand people will try the quest ten times, we'll be done in half a day. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Not that I'm complaining, but let's hope that there's better loot this time around. ^_^

Well, if they do it like Edy Cup, it should mean Weapons Shields, yes(And more fucking Rappies than you can shake a stick at doing the quest to exchange the badges for them...).

Meh. I have money from Xmas. Maybe I'll show up for it for the hell of it. Though knowing my luck, I'll get corrupted or something. XP

Read what you posted? XP

The points are isolated per character. There is no real total, from what I can tell, I was told I had 145 points added to my total, so I think it's isolated from the rest of the players.

I might try for 10,000, but I'm sure there are others who want to get there before everyone else to say they got [prize] first, which makes me not want to even try.

I don't have the balls to mod up a black ring and weapons badges to see if they're banned, though, so the mystery will still remain for a short while.

you can just run through normal can't you?

Skorpius
Jan 11, 2005, 07:01 AM
Probably.
Just did a Hard run and got the points added to my total score. Pretty boring, but theres something puzzling about this quest. Several different paths can be taken that all interconnect at some point.

4 players could sweep this thing on Ult if they knew here to go.

Coolest-Mum
Jan 11, 2005, 07:18 AM
hmmm one thing puzzles me what are the tickets for?
first run 166 kills on ult = 1 ticket

second run 400 ish kills on v hard = 8 tickets

third run 480 ish kills on hard = 8 tickets

on hard managed to get though all 3 levels and each time my total was added up so i now have over 1,000 points.

Boaring to do on normal but prob the quickest way to earn the points....

Guess what? im on a mission http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Tycho

Ooo. Does this mean there's gonna be a prize in the quest on Ult if we finish it within a certain time limit / with no deaths / with max kills? :o

Ryna
Jan 11, 2005, 07:56 AM
After doing some runs with Auracom this morning, we found out the maximum number of enemies you can kill on a mission is 587. After you kill the last one, you'll be teleported back to Pioneer 2. I've been getting 10 Lucky tickets each time we've gone over 500. You can easily gain between 1100-1200 kills per hour with a teammate on Very Hard.

Too bad they took out all the of the bronze medals from the DC version. I spent a couple of runs looking for those (after I remember where their secret locations were). Oh well, it makes the runs easier if you want to get all the kills.

For those wanting to get 587, keep the following in mind:

1. There are 2 secret passageways in Mines 2.
2. After you clear out the last wave of Sinow in M2. Head back to F2 and try to cross the bridge with the portal. Kill the Hildabear and pipe to Caves 2. The rest of the enemies will be there.

Getting 587 kills on VH with no deaths, there were no rewards. Doing the same on Ult will be rather hard with the large number of Ob Lilies and Baranz.

Time goes until 30 minutes are up. Like you posted, you get points per kill, and every time you redo this quest, your points are tallied together. I now have a tad over 1000, which I am leaving for the night with.

It will take, roughtly, 13 more hours to get to 10k by doing this on normal, which is about 471 kills.

There are serveral differnt paths that I've figured out, though. 2 ways into Cave from Forest, and two ways into Mines from Cave. Very perplexing because there is another route in both Cave and Mines that I have not been able to fathom a way to get to.

Something to do while getting points. :z

EDIT: Ok, I knew my original count was higher than 471. Just getting all the spawns requires an extra person? I know there is a two person switch that is irrelevant due to a warp in mines, but does this switch trigger spawns? Maybe somoene can map out the quest. I'm too tired. XP

With two people, you can do it in about 9 hours.

Actually, there are three warps from F2 to C2. You need to split up into two teams in F2 to cover Caves efficiently. After you get done with M2, take the third warp to get the rest of the enemies in Caves.

I believe you need at least two people to kill all of the monsters. There are a few rooms in Caes that you cannot get to by using "Dragon Warp". You have to clear out those room using the warp hidden behind the laser fence in F2. You'll need a teammate to unlock that warp.

Nai_Calus
Jan 11, 2005, 09:39 AM
Hmm, how much has the actual quest layout changed, if at all? If the layout/timing hasn't changed, a three-way split might be best. Two weaker players who need eachother(FO and a HU works) and will be doing the majority of Caves and getting to Mines first head up towards the dome, and the other two, both of whom should be able to handle themselves(RAmarls, etc) head the other way. Whoever's weaker of the two lets the stronger through the laser fence, then waits at the location of the third warp until the countdown reaches 20 minutes, clears out that area, and joins the others. *shrug* Depends on how fast everybody kills and what level they are.

The quest has the same layout as the Dreamcast version. Only the following things were changed:

1. Removal of bronze medals.
2. Removal of "reward room" from the end of the quest.
3. Addition of Lucky Tickets. (What are these used for?)

Everything else seems the same so far. However, I would like to know why the ST PSO team is standing in Ruins....

Oh well, I'm glad they kept those two 0% ungrinded Sabers in Mines 2. Those were always good for a cheap laugh.

In Ultimate, against Baranz.. have low-level (so low max-HP) people to help because they get knocked down by the Baranz, and can probably Confuse / Freeze / kill / distract them? <.<;

I said "Skorpius, to the door!" and when I turn around, I see the 4 Baranz dead and Skorpius' RAmarl in the middle, unscathed, saying "Rebel" http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif

Well, I did the quest 3 times in Ult without dying with Terra, so the tons of Baranzes are not that bad.

They hate my SQ http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

And two of the three times were with HUnewearl, RAmarl, RAmarl, RAmarl.

More like better to hunt in multiple areas. You can do this quest on Purplenum to level up and hunt Frozen Shooter, Lavis, and Psycho Wand, if you wanted.

Auracom and I got 10k of points in MA1 just a little while ago. After we completed the quest, the Principal anointed me “RAMARL MASTER RYNA” and Auracom as “HUNEWEARL MASTER SHIRO”. He then invited us to replay a “VR Quest”. We reloaded MA2 and found that the Principal’s text had changed. We did the run and got 587 kills. After the last kill, Auracom and I were teleported to Ruins where a very touching scene played out. We were presented with “Heart of Ramarl” and “Heart of Hunewearl”. The text encouraged us to play with other “Masters”. Are there any other Masters out there that would like to join us for a run? I’m thinking you are supposed to get an item by gathering “hearts”.

I figure if things go right, that it might be Ryna, Auracom, PSObsessor, and myself, unless them three are going to help out Kef get his remaining points. I might be helping others, as well. Only time will tell.

Plans never go right, and there are also several other people who still need teams and points themselves. I'll probably hang back and help others and try to jump into the next MASTER's boat.

Heh, this is sounding better and better by the minute. ^_^ Finally something new.
Just want to ask, how hard is this to do solo? I don't intend to venture on Ultimate
mode since I don't have the best of equipment for that. Not so soon anyway.

Bear in mind that my highest level character is only 130 and a Fonewearl. Second highest
is a Level 80 Humar. And I hardly have all the good stuff like the Cure/Units to use.

I don't want to play through V HARD mode only to find out that the good stuff is on
Ultimate mode... :3

I'd love to join others if there's space on the team. ^_^

I should go and scout out the quest later today.

Hrith
Jan 12, 2005, 08:14 AM
FOnewearl is probably the fastest char on this quest solo.

Just pick Normal mode and scorch everything, you get the same points in all difficulty modes.

Actually, thinking of fastest... if you solo the quest, there are 23 monsters you cannot reach, so you will have to wait for the timer to reach zero >_> (30 minutes, should be 3 to 5 minutes left at the end of quest on Normal solo).

But it looks like you need 4 players with 10 000 points or over to get the reward.

Thinking of unreleased items, the Hunter/Ranger/Force Wall came to my mind, now THAT would own.

Ryna
Jan 12, 2005, 08:35 AM
One part I left out last night is that only Masters are summoned to Ruins at the end of the quest. I'm not sure yet whether you have to complete the mission for that to happen. Non-Masters are teleported back to Pioneer 2 and have to wait for everyone else to come back up. Skorpius, I plan on doing a run with you and PSOobsessor tonight to see what happens in a game with four "Masters". Did you already reach 10k? I plan on getting online around 5 pm EST.

As for reaching 10k, the easiest way seems to be to do runs with a teammate on Normal. With three players, we were finishing the quest in 12-13 minutes. That adverages out to 2000+ points per hour.

Kefka, get to 10k with your RAcast. We need a Heart of RAcast, not another Heart of RAmarl. (Just kidding).

As for enemy counts, I can try doing that this evening. The only thing I can say at this point is that there are about 15+ Baranz, 20+ Sinow Blue, a few Sinow Red, 6+ Pan-Arms, 9+ Hildets, 6+ slimes, and 40+ Ob Lilys.

Crystal_Shard
Jan 12, 2005, 08:56 AM
Hmm. Interesting, so even if you're playing in Normal the points get carried over to

low level characters this way. ^_^

Thanks Kef. ^_^

Ryna, Skorpius, psobsesser and I have just reached "master" in MA1, and went to Ruins, and... nothing happened -_-

It seems you need a "heart" for each class.

So Skoprius suggested that people with Master ranked characters sign up here.

So we have:
-Auracom (Heart of HUnewearl)
-Ryna (Heart of RAmarl)
-Kef (Heart of RAmarl)
-Skorpius (Heart of RAmarl)
-psobsesser (Heart of FOmarl)

9 classes to go >_>

Well ToH, you'd better hurry. There is a good chance that Ian will beat you!

All joking aside, if anyone does reach 10k, they should post here and we'll try to arrange some "heart trade" meetings. This is one of those quests that requires the community to cooperate in order to unlock its secrets.

Everytime you beat the stage with 10K points, you'll get the scene and the Heart item?

Speaking of beating the stage, I tried last night. I think I got lost. What's up with those
timed open locks? There were a few places that needed me to wait 5 minutes before it
would open. I still got 425 kills though...

Do I have to achieve some objective alongside killing the monsters? I have to admit,
I skipped the explanation by the principal gives by accident, so maybe I missed something.

I finally acquired 10,000 points before collapsing last night, so my HUcast Blessed will obtain his heart this evening. I'm happy to donate it, so just let me know if and when you require it.

Everytime you play the stage after getting 10k, you will be teleported to Ruins for the Heart presentation scene.

There is one warp in F2 where you have to wait to the 20 minute mark before you can use it. It will transport you to Caves 3 to clean out three rooms. After that, there is another "timed" switch, but it is just one of those that stays open for a few seconds after flipping it.

In the Dreamcast days, you would also collect "Bronze Medals" from the various item rooms throughout the quest. Most of those rooms required the teammates to cooperate to open them. While the rooms are still there, the bronze medals have been removed. The quest has essentially been turned into one giant killfest instead of a "kill and collect" quest.

I think I remember seeing your HUcast in various lobbies before on the US ship.

We could definitely use your "Heart". I plan on being online from 5 pm - 10 pm EST tonight. Where and when would you like to meet up for a MA1 Run?

No one has a clue right now. It is theorized that you will be able to obtain an item if you obtain all or most of the character hearts. That is why we are trying to put together a list of Masters in this thread.

I can work on the Racaseal as well. Anyone done the Humar or Fonewearl yet as well?

I've only 2 Ult capable characters, if the final objective is to play in Ultimate with as
many of the hearts as possible - and two near Ult capable characters as well.(Level 67-65)
The second group of my characters are only in their 20's and the third hasn't gone past the
single digit yet. :3

Of the ones closest to Ult, I've a Fonewearl, Humar, Racaseal and Hunewearl. As for the rest
maybe the Fomar, Fomarl?

It doesn't seem like you have to be on Ult to receive "hearts". I did most of my runs yesterday on Normal and received the "hearts" of other Master characters.

Anyway, do you guys still need the hearts of Fonewearls, Humars, Fomars or Fomarls? ^_^ Just checking
so that I don't do a character type that's already done. I'm gonna have to make some time for this. :3

HUcast - Brownski
HUnewearl - Auracom
RAmarl - Ryna (Me!), Kef, Skorpius
FOmarl - PSobsesser

If you do non-stop Normal runs with some teammates, you can get to 10k within 4 1/2 to 5 hours.

I'm almost certain I obtained all hearts and repeated the quest on ult to no avail. Unless somehow I missed a heart but as I got each class I scored it off.
My thoughts on it are:
1) Maybe you need to gather a set amount of hearts.
2) Use them in an upcoming quest/event.
3) Their use is very well hidden.
4) I'm an idiot and missed one. (Most likely;)

A few others are very close to gathering them all, Ryna only needed HUmar and FOnewm last I heard, so I'm hoping for good news.

HUnl - Auracom
RAml - Ryna (Me!), Kef, Skorpius
RAct - PaleKid15
RAcl - Garm's Friend
FOml - psobesser

I checked Gallon's shop for updates after I reached Master level and collecting 12 hearts. After checking the quest both times, there appeared to be no changes. I talked to all the NPCs, visited the pd shop, and talked to Gallon. The quest appears to still be the same revision that was uploaded in November for the Christmas event.

Kefka and I have also been doing various VR quests and talking to the NPCs in them to see if any additions have been made. All the quests we've checked so far have been the same.

We are currently waiting on a fourth person to collect all 12 hearts so we can test that theory. I also have some other theories I would like to try, but I have not found a suitable party yet to conduct the tests.

Kefka was able to acquire all 12 hearts.

As for the reason for needing all 12 of them, it is the only theory that we have left for "activating something". Nobody has figured out what the hearts do yet. We have been trying to find a fourth person that has all 12 hearts so we can do a couple of four-person runs. It is *hoped* that having a four-member team with each person have all 12 hearts will unlock an item.
