Well, the other day, I was going to my local mall, and on the back of a car, I saw a spoiler whose top was about 2 feet off of the back of the car. I thought it looked just plain stupid. I don't mind small ones, but the big ones...just don't do it for me.

Your Thoughts/Discussion Question: What do you think about car spoilers? Do they make a car look better, or worse?

In MOST cases, worse, by far.

When I had my Galant, I only put an M3 lip spoiler on it. W/ my A4, I doubt I'll put any spoiler on it.

Now, if it actually increaces control for the car, then go man go. I don't like the spoiler on the Lotus Elise, but it only weighs like 1800 lbs(and someone just made an all carbon-fiber body Elise) and it NEEDS that spoiler.

By hey, different strokes...

Unless you are driving on the Autobahn, you don't need it. Nobody living in the United States has a reason for a spoiler on their everyday car.

The Audi TT still has the greatest story for spoilers. The original design just rounded off on the back, when they test drove it on the autobahn, it lifted off the ground and nearly flipped over a couple times. They slapped the tiny ass spoiler on it, and no problems since. Now that is functional.

Mom has a spoiler on her Subaru Outback (note: it's the sedan version.) Gives it a much sportier look than if it didn't had any.

Moral of the story: small spoilers are in, big spoilers are out. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

it can depend on wether its done well or not. if its somehting likt the normal '£50 plastic body kit and 4 inch tailpipe on my clio innit' type boy racer car then it will invariably look shit. but on somehting big and fast like a skyline, then even when its coverd in NoS stickers it still looks ok.

Absolutely, the bigger the better. You get a 30% boost to "Cool" and "Fast" for every foot of spoiler.

Case in point. (http://www.funny-city.com/photos/images/203.jpg)

Meh, spoilers aren't my thing with cars. It depends what kind of car, if it's a racing car, sure give it a spoiler, but I don't think it's right seeing a Ford Taurus with a spoiler.

Maybe it is just that I prefer whatever is on the car to be functional. I dunno. Spoilers do jack shit for the cars most people drive. Someone cruises up the street with a Kia that has a wing mounted to the back, I dream of slicing his throat and enbalming him with gasoline only to set him on fire later on.
