Well now you can! I have just submitted my application, we'll see how this goes...

This is most likely for the US release of Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst.

I don't know if you have to be living in the area of San Francisco, but here's the link to the requirements and such:

Click here (http://www.sega.com/corporate/corporate.php?item=jb_gamemaster_050125)

If you want to apply, read this very well (http://www.sega.com/corporate/corporate.php?item=corporate_jobs). You have to email them an application or send it via mail.

Enjoy, and if you apply, keep us updated.

I don't live in such an area, unfortunately. Grand fucking Northern Wisconsin.

Will they pay for relocation? lol.
I wish.

I've got a little html...(looks at dreamweaver) and given that it would be easy for me to transfer my credits to UoC and that would also put me in a much better position to possibly work at G4... (yes I know you're cringing at that thought, don't worry, I won't be corrupted like some other's that work there. Any one that read Will Wheaton's story would know about it)

...PAUSE! That's not really worth it. DVDs are currently in the works as I've heard. Webster of captainn.net told me about that.

Good luck on that. x_x;
I myself don't really care about it.. I say being part of the community is more fun than having to be the community-police, even if that will mean you do get ingame power. You're not allowed to use it to do anything fun anyway, other than things regular players are allowed to use / do.

Definitely sounds pretty neat ^_^ I meet most of the requirements and I've got lots of communications and customer service experience. I don't think I'm quite done yet with being just a Hunter though ^___^

Plus I'm in virginia, so no go for me anyway, lol.

I have just send my Resume to Sega.

I'd apply if I even knew how to show them that I meet the requirements. The only thing is that I don't live where they are based, but Being a Game Master I don't believe you have to be in house.

At least for me its a little more flexible. I just stop this semester, change my credits over to a school in SF and start it up again.

If they pay for relocation that be sweet. But does anyone even know if you have to relocate? Since it is a GM position you can just work from home with the right software that is rovide for you by them http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_confused.gif

Same for me, but I have another problem...

I would just go on a banning spree to any idiot I come in contact with, don't think they would very much like that http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Its an interesting job and I hope some people get it

I wonder how many positions they have open?
And would I get to have my own "staff character" as well or just loom around in that ugly grey Guardian costume?

I was in the PSO:BB beta and I don't recall ever seeing a Guardian in a game but did see a Staff Character join.

Not sure, but I don't think anyone has gotten a reply. I might end up sending in my resume via mail.

From the beta, there was a FOnewearl Gamemaster, and a HUcast (I think). Did they even use the hooded FOmar guy?

And if I DID become a Gamemaster, I would want to use that awesome skin >.> Probably as a FOmar though ^-^;

I think it would be cool for a while. If I had my way, I would have the Devil Wings mage be bigger, about the size of a Apsaras each. Then I would be that Game Master who would play with anyone around the world, help them get through that hard quest they've been fighting for months, help get that one rare. I'd be your Friendly Neighborhood GM!

I could apply too but I decided not to as I do not want people coming up to me while I am trying to enjoy my game.

I applied as a volunteer.

Seriously, I very much enjoy this game and would love to serve as a volunteer online moderator. If anyone from this site does get offered a position and would like assistance, do not hesitate to contact me.

It would be an incredible experience to create a clean, PSO universe that everyone could truly enjoy.

If I can contribute, that would be wonderful.

So is anyone certain on whether you have to relocate or not? Because if not, I'll definitely apply... But otherwise the job isn't good enough for me to quit school with only 2 semesters left...

As far as I know, the GM is a paid position; Blizzard requires that its GMs work on-site(as opposed to at home) and I wouldn't be suprised if Sega was the same way.
I'd assume that I wouldn't be GMing from a retail version of the game and 'special' versions like that are not things that Sega would ever want to see circulating around.

I am sorely tempted to drop in on them(althought that'd be one helluva ride from where I am now) just to see what is up.

Having worked a testing job in the game industry(wow, being paid to play video games?!) I can tell you that it is indeed work.
Sounds pretty freakin nice on paper but it really is a job. The way you'd be forced to play the game certainly lessens your chances and ability to enjoy it.

Yes.
From what I've read about game testers is that you are supposed to play a game the way it was not meant to be played.

Recording your play for hours on end is common.

If you see any error in the game you have to write them down in detail, explain what happened to the programmers, and probably attempt to re-create the glitch.

Fun? http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

pfft, yeah it's work but so what? would you rather spend that time bagging groceries at the local grocery store?

Even with all the crap the average game developer has to put up with (long hours with unproportional pay), I still can't think of anything I'd rather do...

Gotta have that drive, because game jobs are cool dammit! http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

Hey, don't take me wrong, or out of context.

I'm a hard worker.
Up until some downtime at my restaurant, I was a 5 day, 40 hour week kinda guy.
Granted, there is no way for me to prove to you over the internet that I'm a hard worker so I'm gonna hope you take my word for it.

The job in question here (Game TESTER, the lowest of low rungs in the game DEVELOPMENT process) is tough work, or so I've heard. It's something I don't think I could handle.

My eyesight is terrible enough from years of home video game playing. Why would I risk more damage playing (probably bad) games?!

I do appreciate your enthusiasm though.
I hope you do become a game developer one day.
It will help keep new games coming, even though there is a lot of bad in the industry as well.

I wasn't saying anything about you in particular...

But yes testers/game masters are pretty much the bottom of the barrel in game jobs... And most of the time are treated pretty horribly by the programmers. They get pissed at testers for finding a bug as if it was the tester's fault. Not everyone is like that though...
