GC-Quest: Maximum Attack 2 Ver 2 and Valentine's Day Quest

The GC community will be receiving three quests on Feburary 8th. The titles of them are "Maximum Attack 2 Ver 2", "If you laugh at the Seashore", and "Valentine's Event". The announcement for it can be found here:

The Rappy seems to be lonely on the Seashore. A 'Heart' is needed to encourage the Rappy.

I edited my post and added some translations for the text.

It seems we will finally be able to use our hearts in the Rappy Seaside quest. Also, it doesn't seem like we will have to get 10k kills on MA2ver2. Perhaps clearing the stage with 100% kills will be sufficient to get the "shocking ending".

Aswell as (hopefully) using the hearts in this "by the beach quest", do we use our Lucky Tickets aswell ? I know it mentioned they were used in a beach quest during MA2 but I'm uncertain which.

I remember a long time ago when max attack 2 was first released, it came along with a quest just like (if not the same)"It is if it laughs on the beach". If this quest is anything like that quest you can use your tickets to get prizes. The last time max attack 2 was released the tickets could only be used by jp players to recieve a prize. Actually, US players were able to use their Lucky Tickets on that "Evil Slot Machine." The only things US players missed out on were the physical prizes for reaching certain milestones in the kill count.

Just played through the new version of MA2V2 and "Beach Laughter". Here is what I know so far about the quests:

MA2V2:
It is an updated version of Maximum Attack 2. However, ST removed the end island from CCA, replaced it with a warp to Seabeds, and increased the initial time to 45 minutes. Seabeds seems to feature a bunch of Sinow and squids. There is a room with two warps that leads to two different paths. Both paths seems like they will be pretty brutal on Ultimate. After you get done with Seabeds, you head off to Tower to clear nine floors of it. Each floor seems to feature some sort of gimmick, whether it be an invincibility effect, timer, or blurred motion. The last floor of Tower features a wave with the following: Epsilon, Delbiter, Gibbles, Gi Gue, and Mericarol.

Beach Laughter:
Essentially a quest with a bunch of depressed rappies. The rappies are depressed because their song writer has not written anything in a long time. If you give him the correct lyrics, he makes a comment about asking for "colors and hearts". Also, the quest has a game machine for converting lucky points into MA kills. There are two games; "High and Low" and "Button Mash". In "High and Low", a number is chosen and displayed to you. You then pick whether the next number will be higher or lower. If you guess correctly, 200 kills will be added to your MA1 and MA2 kill counts. In Button Masher, the number of times you press the button within 10 seconds will be the number of kills added. Each game costs 10 lucky tickets to play.

Here is some additional information....

The goal of MA2V2 is to get 10 thousand kills (just like MA1). When you reach 10k, you are pronounced a (Insert section id of character here) Master. When you play the quest the next time and it ends, you are teleported to Seaside. You receive the same "heart" speech as in MA1 and receive the "Section ID Hearts" of any MA2 masters present.

I tried the "Beach Laughter" quest with 12 Character Hearts and 1 Section ID hearts, but it seems I need more of the Section ID hearts.

If anyone is able obtain a Section ID heart, could you post in this topic? This is going to be almost as bad as trying to find people for the "Character Hearts".

Oh yes, if anyone has a large amount of Lucky Tickets, I would recommend doing the Rappy quest first and playing the mini-game. I was able to convert 400 lucky tickets into about 5000+ MA2 kills. That really helps out.

In a worst case scenario, you need all of them to get the "prize".

you need, how many of each heart and color do you need to gain a certain prize.

I was basically wondering if having:

4 Redria Humars, 5 Bluefull Fomars, 3 Yellowboze Racaseals and 10 Whitill Fonewearls

would yield a different prize than say:

5 Pinkal Fomarls, 6 Greenill Racasts, 2 Purplenum Hunewearls and 9 Viridia Ramars

Just as an example. Probably not, but who knows? ^_^

The game data is not stored like that. It only keeps track of whether you have acquired a specific heart. Section ID and Character class hearts are stored seperately. The save does not keep track from what character a specific heart came. So it will not know that you have 10 Skyly HUcast hearts. It will only know that you have a Heart of HUcast and a Heart of Skyly.

As for what item maybe, there are a few things on which we can speculate. The Rappy Conductor that appears in "Beach Laughter" is the same rappy from the MA2 reward quest two years ago. The prize that you got from him was the Kids' version of the Nights song. There are two unreleased discs left. Another possibility is the Black Ring. Remember all the trouble you had to go to for the Ragol Ring? Finally, it could be one of the Field units. If that is the case, it is likely that your character class will determine which Field you get.

Hmm I propose we all set up a meeting time or meeting week. All the masters can meet up on Antares 8/Lobby10. What do you guys think? Right now is probably not the best time to start this because not many will have their hearts ready for exchange. How about starting Saturday, Feb. 12th we all start playing on Antares 8 for heart exchanges? And if you need specific hearts I suppose you can set up meetings here or in a PM. Here would be better though cause other people may like to get the same heart. But whatever!

Valentine's Quest:

First talk to the Naura sister near the hearts at the bank.
Then talk to the one in the Medical Center; first melt, then mold, then cool the chocolate.
Finally, get your chocolate wrapped at the NPC near the warp to the principal, you will now get the "Valentine's Chocolate" item.

I heard you can get a Heart Rock for it in the Beach Laughter quest, but I didn't try yet. Mine FSoDed.

Finally completed my Hearts collection today, and after tolerating a Rappy Festival, I was rewarded with a Black Ring and 5 Photon Spheres. Joy:) Finally, a quest with a useful reward. I better get started with my RAmarl while Mintaka is still jumping.

Although I dislike this hacking, talk of Blue Ring and PC's being included in the reward is interesting, maybe the prize varys depending on ID/Class...

I finally received my last heart a little bit ago (Why are Greennill players so difficult to find?). Would anyone like for me to take pictures of the reward ceremony for the Rappy Composer?

Also, does anyone want pictures of the MA2V2 Heart Presentation ceremony?

On a side note, here is some additional information:
1. The highest enemy kill count I've seen in MA2V2 so far is 897. That was achieved with four players. I'm sure there are a few more hidden enemies. The highest a single player can get is somewhere between 500-600. A full "all-kill" run on Normal can take between 30-40 minutes.
2. After you become master and are doing speed runs for hearts, here is the fastest route I've seen:
a. In Temple, take the Hildabear route to Spaceship.
b. In Spacehip, clear the Delsaber and Garanz rooms. Take the Jungle North(?) route (also known as the BOSS route).
c. In Jungle, clear the Mericarol room and head south. Kill the lone Mericarol there and head to CCA.
d. Clear CCA and head to Seabeds. In Seabeds, take the left warp and head to Tower.
e. In Tower, clear each floor up to 7f. In 7f, just run by the reconbox to 9f. Clear 9f and flip the switch to end the quest.
That runs takes about 10-15 minutes on average. I remember on one of my runs that the timer was over 45 minutes when we finished the run (There are rooms that will boost your time if certain requirements are met).
3. The number of lucky tickets you receive is based on the number of enemies you kill on a run. I've seen it range from 3 (~200 kills) to 15 (> 800 kill).

how exactly does this prize work? is it possible to beat the quests with one character, collect the hearts you need for the prize, and then start all over again with a different character? or is the data saved for all your characters? i'm a little confused. anyway, i'm jumping the gun because there's no indication that either MA1v2 or MA2v2 will be coming out for xbox in the near future, but this is far too exciting for me to contain myself.

The points and hearts are saved for each character. That means that after you complete it with one character, you have to start the process all over again.

As difficult as it was to gather hearts with the GC version of the game, I can only imagine how difficult it will be for XBoxers (smaller population and all).

you'd be right about the small xbox population, but for five photon spheres i'd play with even the whiniest of noob hackers. that's a prize worth getting.

one other thing...i kind of rushed through reading the whole thread, but in one of your posts you seem to mention something about normal difficulty. can you obtain hearts, and hence get the black ring/photon sphere prize, on any level of difficulty? usually the good stuff is ult only, which is why i ask.

i really hope MS adds these quests in a month or so. i'm stoked to get going on them!

You can obtain hearts and kills on any difficulty.

There might be a prize for doing this on Ultimate, but none of us have tried that yet.

Looks, the special (at a 300% weapon, heavy hit will pwn Devil's -_-), and last and least the one ATA. And I like the Twin animations better I think. Stylish. ._.;

Plus, all SY's have 50+ Hit, so no 100/0/100/100 for those.

And Epsilon is the only significant Machine enemy bar Sinows / Opt. Gillchichs and other Mines stuff doesn't count, Mines drops suck. ._.

I don't know... Might as well get a second weapon, a 100 Machine BKB, for the Epsilons.. xP

Sister is the one that gives you the Black Ring and Photon Spheres. I tried talking to Sister again, but she didn't give out anything else.

I'll try my best here. The goal of each quest is to gain 10000 points (kills). After you get 10000, you become a Master. In Max Attack 1, you become a Master for your character class. In Max Attack 2, you become a Master for your Section ID. When you become a Master, you will start receiving "hearts" from other Masters after the quest ends. The goal is to gather hearts from other classes/section ids. You will receive character hearts in MA1 and section id hearts in MA2.

I did the Reward quest this evening and obtained my Black Ring and 5 Photon Spheres. Let me describe what happens:

After you gather all the hearts, you go talk to the Rappy Composer. You tell him the appropriate lyrics and he becomes inspired from the energy of all your hearts. You are then transported to Mountain where a large group of rappies, monkeys, and gees start singing the Kid's Version of the Nights song. After the song is overwith, the Rappies decide to have a festival. You are then teleported back to Seaside. Talk to the Rappy Conductor and then to "Sister". Sister is the Rappy in the eastern/northeastern part of the map. She is standing on a rock. She will give you the items.

I tried playing the quest again to try for the Blue Ring. Sister did not give it to me.

I captured the entire quest on video (all the rappy responses, the music video, the festival, etc). Does anyone want me to post pictures or upload a copy of the music video?

A few friends and I managed a 960 point run, for which we recieved 18 tickets http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_disapprove.gif, 20 would have been nice. I'm positive thats the maximum but there could always be a few more hiding away. There were a couple of instances where a single enemy spawned nearly a minute after the main waves were killed, but it's hardly worth waiting on as 18 tickets were still rewared for 950+ kills.

Any creature (recoboxes, slimes, even canabine rings) that spawns others counts as one kill for the whole thing.
That means you should just get one kill for the box, and none for the recos.
If no-one else is doing anything, you can test this by looking at your kill count (in the quest items) before and after killing a reco.

Trypticon claimed he tried this, and the Recons did give extra kills. Don't ask me, I'm not sure myself. By the way, how many kills for max Lucky Tickets? Because to me those seem to be the easiest way of getting craploads of points in no time. Yesterday I tried a run with the Japanes (they didn't like it, a gaijin using an L9 character and couldn't tell them what 'route' I wanted to play).

Sorry if that was misinformation. When I tried it, I thought that nobody else in the group was doing anything, and the kill count was going up by one each time I killed a recon. My appologies for any misleading information or lost time that this caused.
