I'm taking this test today... joy. I'm wondering if anyone else has taken it and what they got on it. Oh, and take note I'm in 7th grade. This is a highschool test. Wish me luck...

What the hell is an ACT test when it's at home?
Is it similer to the SATs we have here in the UK?
Good luck regardless. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

If your SATs are like our SATs, then yes, they are similar. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

The ACT is a college entance exam, similar to the SAT. It uses a different scoring system, but there is a conversion chart and colleges accept either score.

He's probably taking it at a high school, or somewhere else.

Good luck (I personally haven't taken the ACT, just the SAT).

we dont do college entrance exams, thats all based on how many gcses you can get (or what course your doing, you dont need anything to get onto some of them)

Oh, Boy, that was fun. Yes I did take it at a High school. The only thing that was remotely difficult was the Math section. I never even heard of half the stuff...

I took the SAT's last year when i was in 7th grade and i know what you mean, half of that stuff i still dont even know yet, and im in honors classes http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif. I only got around 950 with the combined scores, but still that stuff was really confusing and difficult at some parts.

Its a good thing you had fun taking that test, cuz it is'nt nearly as fun when its your future education is on the line.

The ACTs and SATS are indeed simlilar. I took both of them none the same, neither one was harder nor easier, just..different. And the conversion charts showed that I scored the same in both tests, so it ended up being kind of a waste of time.

So use the ACT-SAT conversion charts and you'll roughly get what you'll get if you took the SAT.

I hate the ACT and SAT, pointless. Was ACT testing for those college in the mid America states, I know only a few colleges or some colleges accepts them.

Most California states take either test, but if you're taking only one, it's obvious, choose SAT, since its more known.

Actually, now that I think about it, my brother took the SATs a while back (hes in 7th grade too) and he just got his results today. Should ask him how he did, but its 1 am...oh well, my loss....

Took it. Got a 21 my first try. Didn't need a second as three of the two colleges needed a 20 to get in...the third (which I ended up going to) didn't need it at all.

When I took the ACT about three years ago... it was my first try and I got a 28 on it.

Three out of the four tests on it I got a 29, and the last one I got a 22. >_>

It isn't that hard, if you actually paid attention in school you'll do fine. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

(Take the SATs instead)

That is, if you like analogies. Analougies. Anologl... whatever.

Analogies are gone starting with the March SATs. But they get a writing/essay portion making the max SAT score 2400 instead of 1600.

Took the SAT 3 times, 1200, 1180, and 1290 in that order.
So if it were ACT: 26, 26, 29.

When it comes to the ACTs, speed - not brains. Farking time limits. Then again, I bet the tests wouldn't be much of a test without the constraining temporal boundaries. In essence, the ACTs are a snap considering you've learned most of the stuff by junior year. 7th grade... it's more like a test of the waters for you. Consider yourself lucky, as you know what to expect when you take it to make it count.

My highest score was on English. I've never debated that English and composition/reading was my most finely tuned skill. My math score was pathetic, though; a measly 19. Luckily, I still got a 25, which is good enough for most universities in Tennessee... not that I can afford such schooling.

Yeah, the time limits were pretty short. I still haven't got my scores yet.

Also, last year, my brother got a 25, which is pretty good, much better than a many people.

Dude, are you kidding? They should give you about half the time they already do! That would be a challenge...maybe. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif But I agree that it probably doesn't reflect intelligence much, just the quality of your education up to that point.

I took the ACT in 7th grade too! http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

But that was a long time ago. Anyway, I did better than my dad did when he took it before he went to COLLEGE, and I think... Yeah, I must've done well. I recently took the PSAT and did incredibly well [and I'm not even a straight-A student]. I'm not a good test-taker either, I think I just have good luck with these ACT things.

I got a 1380 on my SAT, which according to two seconds spend on google is a 31 on the ACT.

Didn't want to have to post this, but...
1550 SAT/36 ACT (took both) http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

Ok, maybe I wanted to.

But, yeah, I definitely blame it on private school.

I know the pain. I only got 1134 when I was 14.

Since we're up to posting scores now, I got a 28 or 29 on the ACT (cant remember...), and 1280 on SAT.

I blame my scores on a crappy high school. Oh yes, at the time it was 2nd lowest in California for standardized test scores (now THATs bragging), who knows how its doing now.

As for my lil bro (12), he got a 990. Guess he'll do alright for when it counts.

Either way, at the college level, nobody really goes around asking "wats ur sat?!" anyways. So its good only for post high school and college application time.

And in closing, heres what a friends opinion of the SATs is...and my attempted input.

"Only the worst people do good on the SATs"
"Hey what about m.."
"Shuddap! You were a slacker and you know it."
"Ye... oh."

Stop stealing my score! http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

But the SAT really is the suck; it just isn't a very good indicator of your intelligence and/or strengths as a student. And they've got that new SAT for the 2006 class....

I took both SAT and ACT lately. Both tests seemed rather pointless, and the fact that every 5 seconds someone was coughing a lung out doesn't help much either. The tests were easy, even the parts I hadn't been taught yet were easy enough to take a stab at (at least on the ACTs, they told us not to do the question if we don't know it on the SATs. Why, I have no idea.) The ACT seems to be the useless test out of the two, all boiled down to it. You have to ACT like you're smart, because everyone knows the answers are in the back of the book. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Sigh, i havent gotten there, and i think the whole writing this is a bunch of BULLSHIT! I am the must uncreative writer, and they want to charge me 600 points on how i write? its comprehension of words that are much more important than that of what you can write... maybe some people like skipping the "Descripiveness" unless forced to. But for a COLLEGE ACCEPTION?! im screwed... so fucking screwed...

Poor fools. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

21 when I was in 7th grade. Either that, or a 15. I have no idea.

1300 first time on SAT, 1310 on SAT. I could have kept on taking it, but it would have been pointless.

I took the 'new' SAT recently... got 1890 on it. I within about a month of score release started receiving mail from colleges, out of state ones too. So far I have about a dozen of such things, within 2 weeks time... Oh, and this was a practice SAT. So, when you do end up taking your SAT or PSAT, if you score well, expect a whole bundle of letters within a month of getting your score back. The new format is fairly similar, but... eww, I just hate writing in a specific time.

My class was the last grade in our school to take the old SAT, I got 1098 on it (which i think is good since 1300 is the perfect score on that test)

I'm lucky too, the new SAT has essay parts to it, and essays are my achilles heel (hard time doing them). And the math is harder on the new SATs, I lucked out.

Also, about the differences of the SATs and the ACTs: the SATs are more based on the english and writing, while the ACTs are based more in math fields.

The SAT had a max score of 1600, not 1300 for highschool seniors.

I hate essays too, and somehow lucked out of barely escaping the SAT one. I always scored right around the barely passing mark on the state standardized tests for the essay (anything else I was fine on).
