View Full Version : RASCIST ASS , SHADY, BAND DIRECTOR !!!

I have been in band for about 5 years and i've played music for over 10 years. I love music, any kind no matter who or what sings it. Every genre and song has a place in my heart. Music is my passion, my second life, it holds my life in its very musical notes. Whether it be from the crisp sounds of Miles Davis playing with a straight mute, to the soulful music of Indie Arrie and Sade, to the spunk of Kiss, to the sweetness of Frou Frou (imogen heap), to the majesticedness of Alicia Keys and John Legend to the crunkness of lil john, ciara and usher. I love and forever shall enjoy music. Now time for the juicy drama...

Last year are very talented band director left our school to go to our rival school due to they'll pay him more money. So this year we have a new director named Mr. Kennedy. Hes short and a complete conceited jerk. His methods on playing music are trash and his selection in music and marching formations has made our band lose and embarass are selves terribly in ALL our competitions we been in. Also Mr. Kennedy is a racist bias short asshole.( He comes from a town called Catoosa which is known for having a lot of klan members and for mistreating minorities).

From the day we met, me and Mr. Kennedy never liked each other. The first time we clashed was when i noticed how he'll let indivisuals of the band play rock songs by whit artist( new and old) but if we play a rap song or an old Michael Jackson song or song from Earth wind and fire he'll turn red and tell us to stop. (He got mad cause i played Sunshine and got mad at my friend for playing one of Stevie wonder's song on his saxaphone). So i confronted him and said "Do you have a thing against songs by black people" He of course says no and i say "Well how come we can play rock songs by white people but if we play a song by black people you get mad." And he told me "wELL I don't like that type of music" .............son of a fishstix...(anyone that don't like thriller by michael or stevie wonder got issues and needs to be slapped)

Last year i had a major fight with the seniors of last year and some juniors and sophmores in the band. They started using racial slurs in the band and i didn't like it so i reported all of them and they were all suspended. ( I was the only person to finally stand up to those jerks and i was tortured severely by them for standing up but i come from a family of civil rights activist so it was in my blood to stand up) the problem is is that even though the seniors are gone they have followers and they still mess with me. (Majority of the band are there followers) So we were suppose to go on a trip to Kansas and my mom told me that i couldn't go for she didn't feel i would be safe by myself with those harassers. I told mr. Kennedy why i couldnt go and the reason and he gets pissed saying QOAT "I find nothing wrong with the incident personally your just gonna have to learn to get use to being with these types of people" Unquat..............son of a fishstix.....

We have 2 drum majors and when we did the tryouts for drum majors this year there were 3 people trying out. a white kid a white girl and my friend dion whos black.( take note that mr.kennedy decides who bes drum major and this whole event took place last summer) Now dion is the best musician in the band. He can play circles around the 2 people trying out and he cna play 5 instruments and can play them well. Hes studying to be a band director. SO anyways the way the drum major thing works is that the band director mails the music to the people and they perform the music infront of him and whoever does it the best wins , only 2 people can win. Peronally i hate this way cuz mr.kennedy decides who becomes drum major based off his ear and opinions and beliefs. So dion never gets his music in the mail and he goest to mr kennedy to get another sheet of it and Mr kennedy says "Sorry, i don't have any more" BULLCRAP, band directors always have an eextra copy of a song for they never give out the original copy and whats so dumb is that on one of our trips not to long ago, one of the drum majors (the boy dion was competing against) decides to masturbate on the bus. He was expelled but some how he weaseled his way back into the band and guess what.....HE'S STILL OUR DRUM MAJOR. Now we look up to a perverted sex freak who likes gettin off in public in front of guys.....son of a fishstix....

You can now see why i hate mr. kennedy and why i think his class is bias and hes a racist biggot. Theres been many other events where he showed his redneck side, to many to list so let me get to the point of this stroy...

I am the best damn trumpet in my section and use to be section leader. I'm so good that i have band students asking me how to play certain parts in certain songs. Everyday i practice for 2 hours on my trumpet. And the last time i entered a honor band competition i won 1st place/chair. My old director left me as section leader before he left but when this bastard comes he sees *gasp* a black section leader(very rare in catoosa scools, actually never happened) so he demands a playing test where he is the only judge and puts me to fourth chair. BASTARD!

Now hears how to sum the story up. Report cards came this week and that bitch gave me frukin C in band!!!!!!!!! TELL ME HOW THE HELL WHEN YOU COME TO EVERY DAMN EVENT AND PALY YOUR BEST YOU GET A C IN BAND AND A FRIEND OF MINE WHO NEVER COMES TO ANYTHINGHAS GETS A DAMN "A" IN BAND. Not only that this bastard flunked 2 of my friends (whos black and they told him hes a racist to his face like i did) Now how the hell can you flunk someone in band when they play there instrument. The don't make no damn sense. EVEREYONE black xcept 2 people who brown nose him to death got a C or lower. THATS BULLSHIT!!!!!!! That bastard made my gpa drop by the way.

So i go to his office mad as hell and ask him how my grade is a C and he bust out with these grades (out of all the band directors, this one is the only one ive known that grades only on grades) Now hear is how he said how i got a C. We had 6 grades for the semester. 3 for the first 9 weeks and 3 for the second. 4 of the grades our based on playing tests(which he is the only judge) and 2 our based on citizenship which can be lowered by being late to class. Now for the first 9 weeks i had a "A" a "B" and a "D" but when i got my progress report my grade was a "B" in band. Then for the next 9 weeks i had 2 "A"'s and a "C". And now my grade in band is a "C". THAT IS BULLSHIT AND EVERY SANE PERSON KNOWS IT. YOU CAN'T GET YOUR GRADE LOWERED FROM A "B" TO A "C" WITH 2 "A" GRADES AND ONE "C" GRADE. Also whats so funny is that my %'s i got on the test look funny and my overall % was a 79.0%. I never had just a plain grade like that. It looks like that grade was FIXED on purpose.

I called my mom and she called him and called him a racist and cussed him out and took me out of band. But i REALLY MISS BAND. Music is a part of my life and i am so sad and misearable w/o a class that i enjoyed. Even thought it had so much racism i sitll loved the class because it was music and i love music............................................. ...........BUT, i must take out my anger so...................
FUK YOU YOU MUTHAFLUKIN ASSHOLE BICH FOR SCREWIN UP MY GRADES AND GPA I HOPE YOU ROT SOMEWHERE YOU SHORT MIDGET ASS RACIST MOFO SCREW YOURSELF UP THE ASS WITH YOUR BATON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >:O

Honestly, bring this to the head position as fast as you can, while the issue is still hot. Ask your friends who got bad grades, Dion, and whoever else has been mistreated by this guy and take it up with the head of the school.

Get as much evidence as you can, tell them to bring in their grades, their stories about him, their comments. If you don't do this soon it may never end. Especially if everyone waits until this guy gets tenure. Just remember to keep your cool, and talk sincerely (I know you're angry but believe me, a settled voice will sound better).

Maybe this issue isn't of race. I read the whole thing, and I think you're jumping the gun in making this a racial issue.

He said he didn't like the type of music (rap) you were playing. That doesn't make him a racist, he just doesn't like that genre, as with a lot of other people (excluding me).

No offense or anything but you handled this situation very poorly. You accused the man of being racist over weak circumstantial evidence.

Go to the superintendant and voice your displeasure. Calling someone racist is inappropriate and uncalled for in any situation.

Yeah, I'm not sure. Then again, it could just be that you got off on the wrong foot with him. Since I am not there, I don't truly know the situation. How many kids in your class are black compared to the number who are white? Also, how many of them recieved poor grades (and how many that recieved poor grades didn't deserve them)?

I am not African American/black.
I can't speak for anyone who is.

I can speak my mind however here in terms of this topic without being too objective.

Okay. Not liking Rap, okay opinion. Fair enough. there are African Americans who don't like Rap either. InfinityXXX here has said that they offered other genres of music that were not RAP but were created by African Americans. Soul, Rhythm and Blues, Earth Wind and Fire, Stevie Wonder, etc.

Heh. As I'm typing this I'm listing to "Black Zombie-by Nas." A song about racial overtones in America. Coincidence but its however one type of music I enjoy listening to. Rap, okay but don't stereotype. A good portion of rap has meaning and a message. Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Nas, etc. are not your average make millions and bling bling them all over your TV artists are they?

What if you offered music that was created by Jimi Hendrix or Bob Marley? Rock music created by black artists? It probably would have been shot down immediately upon the realization by your instructor that it was created by a "black artist/musician."

A recent piece on TV showed Bob Marley and those close to him telling how he was more than just Reggae, he was trying to bridge gaps and cross the prejudice states of mind. It didn't matter what color you were, he just wanted you to enjoy his music and the hard work he put into it.

Its sad that you had to leave your passion behind at this current school. With budget cuts to education, there are less and less band classes in High Schools now than ever before, I've heard.

Hopefully you can join a band at another school if its possible to transfer. Maybe an outside of school band as well might be availible.

I've been witness to teachers with agendas. Pedophiles, racists, bigots, violent, all kinds of them in my short years in High School. Legal action was shown to me firsthand in three instances and was a scary thing to be a part of. Each of my years in High School had one of my own teachers fired for having negative agendas like this.

A good African American friend of mine was choked by my English teacher. She knew not to fight back. She immediately was the bigger person and took legal and administrative action. Sadly she had to transfer even after the teacher was fired and I haven't seen her since.

I hope you can pull through man.
One day at a time.

Probably is racist, and I love marching band too, i play trombone, which is the UBER bass brass instrument... I think he really might be, cause there are good points that have been made, like not all blacks listen to Micheal Jackson and some rap, but he probably will let you listen to white pop and rap, so wtf... i got little to say, cause thats something you should handle, ram it down their throats... fucking assholes of the klan....

I didn't call the man racist bacause he didn't like rap, i called him racist cause he did not like us playing any song by black people. R&B, soul, MICHAEL JACKSON, stevie wonder, and earth wind and fire and the isley brothers. He did not like it ANY time we played a song from these people or genre. I mean cmon, you can sit up here and have us play these rock songs by white artist(some of the rock songs had major cussin in it) but you can't let us play the songs by Michael jackson and the isley brothers and etc. (Cmon now, the isley brothers made "Shout" for peace sakes) And i did not just call him a racist based off the event of the music he hated(being all black)there were more events that added up to it. I just find it odd if you don't let us play ANY black songs(everytime we played one behind his back he'll turn red and start shouting) give everyone black a C or below xcept for 2 brown nosers and then give me a C for your shrewed way of grading( i mean i got a b first 9 weeks then a C for the 2nd 9 weeks when all my grades were high) it is just very odd to me.
Also let me tell you of another time he showed his redneckness. Theres a lot of time were the marching bands from dfferent schools would meet, like at a parade or competiton. Well theres 2 all black schools in our town. Central and Booker t. All the other schools are like dominatly white. Well at our competitions lots of the black kids (theres only 8 of us in the band excluding the 2 brown nosers) would ask can we talk to our friends at central or booker T and all hell breaks loose. He starts to say "we don't need to socialize with those people". But guess what, the white kids ask to go talk to their friends at the all white schools and he lets them. One of the white schools he let the kids talk to people in is known for being a bad school. Booker T and central are nationally known for there smart people and for there good playing and good reputation.

Also theres the time when we had our first football game. For like 40 minutes in the game everyone was asking to go to the restroom and i noticed that non of the white kids had escorts to the restroom. I mean kids that were in groups as large as 12 or small as 1 didn't have escorts(Sidenote: theres only 2 races in our band, white and black actually 3 races cause theres like 2 latinos) But me and and my 3 friends whos black ask and we get some dumb parent following us as a escort. You know us blacks can't go to the bathroom ourselves. /sarcasm

As nit piky as the shyte sounds it got on my damn nerves. I had to deal with that and then the torture of the senior's followers( if you don't recall on my last post I had had almost all the seniors expelled for using racial slurs towards me and in my presence). I'm not one to bring up the race card, i try to give people the benefit of the doubt but this was pure racism in this band and the director was part of the rascimness. Your damn right i called the director a racist to his face when i got my C cause when all that mistreatment shit builds your bound to go psycho on someone. And i am going to the board of education this week to file a complaint hopefully geting him fired. But now, heres the big cahoona, the icing on the cupcake, the litted bomb........(i'm really not suppose to say this casue its semi confidential) But Mr.Kennedy was fired from his last scool because of a charge of mistreatment of his minortiy students.

Have you're parents write a letter to the school board. Being the son, grandson, brother and ousin of several lawyers, and have been accused of it myself, I can plainly tell you this is a case of racism. The escort thing is one form of proof. This, and other evidence you have might get him removed from his position. Unfortunatly, you might get someone worse, but you never know. Has he prevented you from being lead *insert instrument here* in place of a white kid? If so, then there is a case there too.

I, myself, didn't like Micheal Jackson's music to begin with, but Stevie Wonder was an incredibly talented musician and should be taught in music class.

Ah yes...Gotta love corruption in America...

I truely am ashamed to know that I am from a country who shows so much ignorance towards other races and cultures. It truely is sad to see this happen to an African-American just because of the color of his skin. Better yet, have your friends filed reports on him as well? If not, I would recommend that your friends file separate reports to make the situation much more effective on your side of the battle.

Sad to hear that. You think things would evolve with time. Damn hillbilly rednecks.

However, if you really wanted to test out Hollowtip's theory...play a song by Fishbone, Living Color, or Dead Kennedys. That would really prove it...especially Dead Kennedys.

Love the sarcasm here, and it is an issue but not nearly an issue of the one in question.

Using a fact about the band director's appearance to demean him isn't justified, but is acceptable considering InfinityXXX's anger here.

This is Rants after all, right?

I again wish you the best InfinityXXX.
I thought about PM'ing you but you're coming back to this topic anyway enough.

Remember that this is Black History month, go enjoy some good music, have pride in the fact that African American heros get to shine in this month more than they do get to in any other month.

ESPN commercials showing "the Path we tread" are kickass. Especially the recent one I've seen about a Gold medalist fighting the Nazi rule at the time by winning 2 Gold Medals in the Olympics.

He later went back home and made a living by racing horses and dogs in a White dominated America. He maintained his composure by saying "I do realize its embarassing and demeaning but I have 2 gold medals, and you can't eat gold medals!"

Ray- starring Jamie Foxx is one of the biggest movies of the last year.

Malcom X- was just re-released on DVD; Denzel Washington gave a perfomance worthy of an Oscar. Spike Lee was interviewed and said that a lot of times actors win awards for movies based on previous performances. While he won for Training Day, he should have really won for Malcom X.

Martin Luther King Jr. will be taught to new generations of young school kids as an advocate of non-violent resistance putting him in a class of individuals such as Mahatma Ghandi.

Its 2005 already.
Leave all the hate in the past.

A Nas quote from me:

Not directly the issue here, but one of love for humanity as a whole anyway.

Okay, I'm just going to be honest about what I think about many of the comments that have been made in this thread because some of what has been said is bothersome to say the least.
Yes there is racial descrimination within society, this I'm fully aware of, but what is disturbing to me is the fact that many people are promoting infinity's pro active boisterous attitude towards what many may consider a controversial assumption he is making. While I don't agree with how the teacher has handled your situation, putting a racist label on anyone without clear cut evidence is to put it bluntly, bullshit. You're not only jeapordizing his entire teaching career over something that is indefinite, you're distancing yourself from the non-African American society.

Any form of racial seperation puts distinct boundaries and limits to ones selfhood. In other words, you group yourself within a certain being when everyone (should) live as equal in a physical sense. National pride is something that is learned and practiced, (in the form of lifestyle, language ect.) while ethnic identity is just a physical characteristic that you're born with.

Those path we tread snippets are more offensive to me than anything. I'm not African American, but I can't help but wonder why this racial seperation is still being reinforced within society. I know it's in good intent, but the seperation is still apparent, it's just different in how it is presented.

Okay fair enough.

Sorry, Hollowtip.
That should be a post completely taken to PM's as first stated in the beginning of my reply.

I can agree to disagree here though if you'd like.
I'm probably going to state some common sense facts here you already know but here goes:

I do understand that there is a double standard.

A Black History Month but no White History month?
This is probably the extreme and most offensive example, by opinion.

American history should be enough, right?
America was built on the foundation of immigrants who settled the land. There is not a nationality based solely on skin color present here. Americans can sure be any color.

Myself being part Native American, I have resentment to a certain extent also. Its not really justified considering this was way before my time and I had nothing to do with it. Okay ancestry, but yes, they struggled so that I wouldn't have to.

In the most extreme cases of anger, everything seems to turn racial? Can we agree on that?

Nobody is perfect and I completely believe that. It happens.

Something some single individual of a certain skin color or descent might have done something terrible to you. It will bring about a grudge, to a certain extent, taken in individual cases of opinion.

Holding on to such grudges are not very healthy in a day to day basis, but when you put it out of your mind it becomes ever a part of your personality. You can't change someone's ways when they grow older and are unwilling to change.

There are things put in place that are both good and bad towards these causes. Affirmative action for instance. We have all heard horror stories and of the double standards, yet it doesn't seem like the rules are going to be changed anytime soon right? We have to just move on. It hasn't directly affected me so I have no quarrel with it. Others sure can have a different view on it and I don't disagree with them having a different opinion.

I may be biased and this is only my opinion of what the original poster said, but I think he is justified in thinking whatever he wants in regards to what happened and his examples to support it. I can't sit here and tell him what to believe or not to believe. I wasn't there firsthand and he is only one side of the story. If we don't take his word for it, then there is nothing to discuss here, right?

Your point is well taken and very valid here also.
I appreciate that you brought it up and stand behind it.
Don't be quick to judge, don't always point fingers in the wrong and worst direction immediately upon a disservice to you. You can't be one sided or closed minded.

The path we tread segments are very one sided, I can agree on that. Upon a second look it is aimed at one particular demographic. Everyone else is left out. Further dissected it is simply 30 second look ins to stories of achievement. It shouldn't matter what the person's skin color is.

I don't have an answer for that issue in particular. I don't know where I stand on that issue yet. I'll just be middleground from now on and retract my previous statements about it.

I do think that we agree that there should be equal rights for all. Certain things set everyone back though. Granted we do not live in a perfect world. Stereotypes, racism, and prejudice exist. This isn't a country based on one group of people owning it, as shown in the past, so we have to share it.

Umm, hollowtip, i'm not the only person in my school distric that has called Mr.Kennedy a racist. People from catoosa has called him a racist, me and multiple friends(white and black) have figured out that hes unfair towards minority student. I talked to my counselor and several teachers and they too say he doesn't treat minorities fair. You see, racism is one of those things where its hard to show evidence. The only real evidence i could bring is a tape of him saying and or justifying his mistreatment of minority students. So the only thing you can go on when trying to show his mistreatment is to gather and collect info from others and from having others observe him. This event has been brought up to our principle and hes going to have a meeting with Mr.Kennedy. When i told our principle he told me that I'm not the only minority that have dropped band since Mr.Kennedy started teaching. He even told me "To be honest, even the white students, some seniors, are dropping band". Hollowtip, please read the events that i've posted and you can be assure that that is MORE than enough evidence to prove that Mr.Kennedy has somethnig wrong with him.

I also want to say that i have witnesses(white and black)to these events and some of them have told the principal about the events. I also want to say that i just didn't go to someone and start blowing up saying Mr.Kennedy is a racist. When i got my C i did not go psycho and put the racist tag on Mr.Kennedy. Many events built up and i actually sat down and thought about saying Mr.Kennedy is a racist. Like i said in one of my earlier posts, i RARELY RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAREEEEEEELLLLLLLYYYY YYYYYYYYY use the race card and everyone close to me knows it.

Also , some of the posts were long so i'm not sure if i caught all of it so if i got the ass end then sorry but about black history month................just let us have our damn month XD. But to be serious the reason we got blakc history month was kinda like an apology for the whole slave segregration stuff yadayadayada. Black history month is a reward for us. A reward for struggling and survivin the civil rights movement and for actually sticking up. I mean if no one black stood up for their rights then we'll probably still be where were at so and so years ago =(. The reason why there is no white history month is for, white people really didn't have to struggle for anything.(i mean on the lines of fair treatment and all that stuff). I personally think there should be a month for other races so we all can learn and embrace other races struggles and hardships for freedom and equal treatment. I really would want to learn more about Native Americans in textbooks but textbooks don't talk a lot about em. I heard there was a Native American month and hispanic month. If there is a native american month i think they should get some more recognition.

Black history month to me is a very fun month for me and reminds me of the past and struggles of others before me and lots of other African-Americans feel this way and really look foward to february. But back on subject with my original post.....I think Mr.Kennedy is gonna be fired next year because too much stuff is comming out on him. Like way back when he got in trouble for saying a racial slur somewhere. Grrrr that man steams my brocolli
