New to Online

I'm wondering since I'm about to start playing PSO online, do you have to make a new char for online play, or keep your offline character?

Sorry if it sounds dumb, but I want to know.

You will use the same characters for online and offline.

You can use your offline character for online play. Your experience points, levels, and items will transfer back and forth.
