Does anyone know of a Female Catholic saint, that lived during Roman times and had her tongue removed for denying the Roman religion, but was not killed, jsut had her tongue removed?

I need to know for a class of mine. Thanks for any replies.

Are you sure that even happened?
I'm not even sure there were female saints back then.

Wasn't Joan of Arc the first woman to be sainted? I wanna say she was although I'm pretty sure Mother Terresa was also sainted recently but she wasn't the first.

nope there have been plenty of female saints in history, i looked up this handy website for ya, it covers over 4000 saints, and here is the first link dealing with a saint who got her tongue sliced out.

there have been a hell of a lot of female saints, and mother teresa is becoming a saint, from what i gather shes cleared the first step, the whole sainthood thing can take decades.
