Hey everyone, my lil brother's got a FOmar currently raising, up to VH Caves. He has just got enough MST to use the Caduceus, but he noticed it doesnt increase MST. Before this he used a Hildebear's Cane. He wants to know whether the Caduceus is worth using, or whether he should revert to the Hildebear's Cane.

Hilde's Cane
+ Boosts MST by 35
+ Handy Special Attack (Foie)
+Boosts Foie
- Not seen as a great weapon by some people, being a VH Forest drop.

Caduceus
+ Boosts Grants (20%?)
+ Handy Special Attack (again,Foie)
+ Increases DFP
- Doesn't Increase MST
- Doesn't Boost a fire, ice or lightning tech.

Suggestions people? Thanks to anyone that helps out.

i said hildebear's cane because you will use foie more than grants, the mst is nice as well

If I recall correctly, the Hildebear Cane special seemed more reliable, since Caduceus's foie is more spread out as far as where it actually fires... whereas Hildebear Cane special fires in basically the same line throughout the whole combo...

Generally I keep a Caduceus around offline, but only equip it when facing an enemy where other techs aren't as great (tech casting FO while offline, mind you). Comes in handy as a switch-to weapon when fighting Grants vulnerable enemies such as Hidelts and Gran Sorcerers.

Hildebear's Cane generally makes a better rush weapon, since the special can take out enemies easily without using too much TP.

If those are your only choices at the moment, then choose Hildebear's Cane or even going unarmed (since male casting animation is faster unarmed), and switch to Caduceus and use Grants when no other techs work well.

I've always liked the Hildebear's Cane, especially on Fonewearls. You can rip up Falz pretty well with that weapon all the way into Ultimate and many enemies are vulnerable to fire.

The Caduceus on the other hand is somewhat of a specialist's weapon. I like it on a Fomarl and for certain areas where I want to snipe Grant's weak enemies. I wouldn't make it an exclusive weapon though.

With a Fomar, you can always play the melee option, so naked fast-casting mixed in with a switch to a double-saber or charge mechs might make a better fit than using the Hildebear's cane.

Hope that helps a bit.

Thanks fort replies people, you been a great help. Mixfortune, you're correct in saying the Caduceus has a widespread Foie, which is a bit useless when you're trying to hit something in front...

Neither. Once he hits a high enough level he'll want to melee. And over all...if you want to combo with magic/melee I personally prefer an angry fist. Neither weapon is worth having when you can cast near twice the speed when unarmed.
