An explaination?
Basic lots of these gates are put up in central park like a gift to the park by this artist. It surrounds almost the whole park.

Thank you for the pictures, EJ; they're much better than most I've seen. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif Where were the aerial views taken from?
But I have to say I'm glad The Gates wasn't put up in my backyard. What an eyesore, in my opinion. I do think it might have looked nicer in the spring/summer/fall when the trees still had foliage, though.
Call me clueless, but I've never been able to summon much appreciation for the works of Christo and Jeanne-Claude. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_confused.gif I guess "art is subjective", huh?

Thanks EJ. You are the best! http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif (and the only person who actually took us seriously and go see it, which makes you UBER awesome)
Personally, I love the orange against the snow. It stands out, it is beautiful. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif
Many thanks!
Pix would be proud.

I'd... have to agree with you on that.

They did it in the winter so they would have a monochromatic background that allows the gates to stand out even more.
Glad some of you actually went. I wanted to so badly, but midterms and money got in the way.
