Ah. Burnable DVDs.
I remember back in the day, when I occasionally burned DVDs, that I popped a DVD in, burnt it, and the X-Box would play it like no problem.

That was like 2 years ago. Now, I'm burning DVDs and... well, three brands later with about 70 blank DVDs lying around, I have yet to actually burn a DVD that works with my X-Box.

Hilarious.
Because those three brands seem to work in EVERYBODY ELSES DVD PLAYER. Not mine. Thats right, the person with the damn fucking DVD player can burn DVDs that won't play on his own equipment.

The only brand that I've found that seems to work wiht the X-Box is Memorex 4x DVD-R. Too bad that to get a 10-pack spindle, I have to pay like $15. Compare that to $20 to get 25 Sony brand and you'd see why I'd get pissed. Want to know what's better? There is NOTHING WRONG WITH THE DVDS THEMSELVES, so I cannot return the DVDs for not working since it is my equipment's fault.

All I can do is really buy DVD's, hope that they work or be stuck with 24 or so DVDs left if they don't. So yes, the package I bought today not only doesn't work in my X-Box, but also gave 3 faulty discs.

Tomorrow, I shall return and give in and buy the Memorex 10-pack. And once they get the Sony DVD-R discs, I'll try them... grr.

I have blank DVDs everywhere, like fucking rabbits.

Thought the X-box wasn't supposed to read any kind of burnt discs to begin with unless you modded it?

Yeah, it's total bunk when you buy CDs/DVDs and they don't work. I mean WTF are you supposed to do with the duds besides this (http://www.ehow.com/how_2841_create-cd-coasters.html)? http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

I have burnt DVDs already, and they have worked in the past. However, they didn't support CD-R to cut down on music piracy or something like that... however, it supports CD-RW so you can still get downloaded music onto teh 'box that way.

Microsoft used about 3 different brands of DVD drive, some read burnt disks without issue, some can end up having issues with originals, it's pretty much luck of the draw what you get.

Have you tried having the CD in the box before turning it on?

For the love of Pete, please tell me you were kidding when you said that.

If you can afford an Xbox, paying $15 for 10 DVD's is not a big deal. Especially when you know for a fact they will work.

Not even Pete can save you now. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_nono.gif

I haven't tried playing burned DVDs on my XBOX yet, not even burned CDs, for that matter. They "supposedly" won't play on it, though as others (and you) have said, a few of the DVD Drives do.

Worked at my friend's house. Or are you talking about the step by step part?
1.) If you have the CD already in the box as it starts, it will read it, depending on the X-box.
2.) I said the step by step because, lately, people have been fucking STUPID.

Butler, think about it. You have an X-Box, you play the X-Box. Then one fine day, you buy a DVD. You wanna play that DVD. And how convenient, the X-Box plays DVDs! Why go spend cash on a DVD player when you've already got one?

Xbox as well as PS2 sold themselves to the market by saying it was to your benefit to have a game system that also allowed you to watch DVD movies. So if you shelled out 300 or so dollars on said systems, why turn around and purchase a cheap DVD player? I mean, what other justification would you have in buying such an expensive game system? Unless your filthy rich, it just seems like a waste of hard earned money.

So you can watch a DVD and play a game at the same time. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_eek.gif

I went to a mall yesterday with lil kiddies.

I convinced them to not be "bad kids" about half the time. The other half was when they were not within my reach.

They took about 15 AOL CD's lying around some store and played "DJ" with them by rubbing them on random blunt objects that cause scratches and sounds.

Common sense didn't work and it was pretty funny to say the least while I tried to figure out why they did this. I told them about the issue of getting a million AOL CD's to drop on their corporate HQ doorstep but they didn't care.

I wasn't this innovative in having fun at their age. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif
