FSOD "What is it?" Sorry for being a rookie :(

Can someone explain to me cause I am new to playing onlineand cant find the answer. I just got everything ready to play on line but it is starting tosound like a complete nightmare. I have hundreds of hours logged into my character and dont want to loose him or my four main weapons.

What is it?

How can I avoid it?

What do I loose "Items on me ot in the bank or all my characters even the ones not online?

Does having PSO plus have any protection against it?

Can it happen anywhere in game play or just the lobbies?

Frozen Screen of Death.


How can I avoid it?

No real way to avoid, but you can minimize the chances of it happening. Avoid overly crowded ships, or ships where certain people cause FSOD on purpose. Also have a broadband adaptor. And if your using a wireless there is always a chance you may FSOD (loss of signal and what not). Most likely youll just be disconnected.


What do I loose "Items on me ot in the bank or all my characters even the ones not online?

If you suffer a FSOD, most likely you will only lose the items that your character does NOT have equipped. And your meseta as well. So make it a habit to bank excess items, and only carry your primary weapon and gear. All items in bank should be safe.


Does having PSO plus have any protection against it?

As far as I can tell PSO plus just stopped mass duping. Added certain online quests to be available offline. Im not to sure if it has a way to stop FSOD.


Can it happen anywhere in game play or just the lobbies?

It can happen anywhere.

Avoid crowded areas. When on a block go to a different lobby instead of 1 or 2. Always password your games.

Ok, I feel a little safer now. I will keep only one two weapons on me at a time that i have copies of instead of carrying my five fovorite weapons with me at all times, and the rest of the stuff in the bank.

Ok, I was on Vega 2/Block 2 "I believe" and there were a bunch of idiots (4 at least) there cussing up a storm, My character starting warping back to a point. I noticed I could not warp out or talk to the guild attendants. Then I saw someone mention FSOD and I immediately pulled out my lan cable. I avoided Vega for a bit. Now I understand. Thanx for the info on the other posts about how to save your neck from corruption. It save me yesterday.

Yes Vega is the ghetto ship of pso. Not as bad as it used to be, but bad enough for you to avoid. As you saw for yourself. If you have your friends guild cards have them meet you at a jp or european ship. But yeah, Vega bad... very bad.

I have lost faith in PSO since Sunday. I got FSOD in the morning (lost 200,000 meseta). I joined another games and was obviously playing with cheaters doing insane amount of damage in levels so low they were barely standing the shots diskhed out by monsters.

And then the last blow. Someone FSOD me while entering a lobby and I lost my favorite weapon (L&K Mechs) :*(

I usually play to help other players and this of getting wacked all the time is making regret playing online. People dont even play the game. They just hang out on Lobbies fsoding people.

It took till last sunday to loose faith? Wow, you're kind of slow then. I lost my faith over a year ago. (and I am on the EU version, so I was late to start playing.) Since then my friends and me have been running from lobby to lobby, hiding away on low population blocks and playing in locked teams.
You lost 200000 Meseta? What's the problem with that? If I had to add up all the Meseta I lost to the relatively few FSODs I had, I would have a hard time counting the 0s behind the 1...
And if L&K is really your favorite gun, I find so many in ULT with one of my chars (a Purplenum I think) I leave them lying there. If you can spare the time to bring a char of the right ID to ULT, you'll have those pretty poppers back in no time.

Uh, I hear that. Losing stuff to FSOD is bad enough as it is. Having FSOD forced is really bad.
Yet, all the FSODs I've had over the past year or so haven't cost me more than a pile of meseta. I never carry anything worth keeping without having it equiped. This limits my gameplay severely, as there are situations when switching weapons is useful. But I got used to it and can handle myself quite well now with just my Snow Queen.
