I am working on an illustrated bestiary of the PSO creatures for my website. Although I have pictures to look off of for the EP 1 & 2 creatures, I do not have any for EP4.

I was wondering if someone could please capture some screen shots of the EP4 creatures in a few different poses and a write a little bit of information about the creature so I can draw their pictures and add information on them for my bestiary.

help will be greatly appreciated.

thanks

After my runthrough of 9-5 today, I've updated some of the desert enemies.

NOTE: any monster that was in a previous area will have a defense, hp, and exp increase when in the desert.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~
Name: Boota
Similarity: Booma
Ability: See below
Location: Wilds, Crater
The Boota behaves almost exclusively like a Booma, attacking in groups, and swarming the player with its large claws. Higher evolved Bootas each have their own ability.
Boota, is normal; nothing about it differs from a Booma, and has a blue appearance. Ba-Boota is the second variation; it has a rush attack similar to Ill Gills, albeit much slower, and has a yellow/purple appearence. Za-Boota is the third variation; it will use foie when at mid-range to the player, and has agreen/red appearence. All Bootas have sort of a tail/spike-like structure on their backs.
Name: Yowi and Satellite Lizard (hereafter referred to as just Yowi for laziness pruposes)
Similarity: Savage Wolf
Ability: partial bullet immunity
Location: Wilds, Crater, Desert 1, Desert 2, Desert 3
Yowis are like Savage Wolves; the are dog-like in appearance, and walk up to the player in the same manner. They no longer try to get behind the player, however, as they don't need to. Once they're in range, they let out a roar and spew acid at the character, dealing moderate damage.
What makes the Yowi difficult, however, is its partial immunity to bullets. If the Yowi is shot in the face with a gun or slicer, it takes no damage and cloaks itself on the spot. It will dissappear from vieew and radar until it is close to the player, where it will reappear and spit acid. The only way to damage Yowi with bullets is to go around to the back, and shoot it in the back of its neck. Melee weapons still work like normal on Yowi.
Satellite Lizard is the weaker, green variant, and Yowi is the stronger, brown variant. NOTE: Killing the Yowi will NOT make the Satellite Lizards cast jellan or zalure; it is merley a staronger variant.
Name: Sand Rappy/Del Rappy
Similarity: Rag Rappy
Ability: None
Location: Wilds, Crater, Desert 1, Desert 2, Desert 3
What? It's a rappy.
Del Rappy is the rare form of Sand Rappy.
Name: Astark
Similarity: Hildebear
Abilities: Shifta
Location: Wilds, Crater
Astark is similar in behaviour to a hildebear. It will jump long distances if you are far away, punch with its large fists to cause damage, and walk using its knuckles much like the hildebear.
Differences from its Ep1 cousin include a berserk attack, in which the Astark will strike with its fists several times without stopping, as well as casting shifta upon itself. It does not breath foie, but will breath the Yowi's acid if the player is too close.
Name: Zuu/Pazuzu
Similarity: Gal Gryphon/Nano Dragon
Ability: Triple foie
Location: Wilds, Crater, Desert 1, Desert 2
Zuu is similar to the nano dragon in the way it behaves when it flies. However, unlike the Nano Dragon, it never lands, and enjoys dive-bombing the player at the worst possible times. It also possesses the Nano Dragon's Aerial beam, as well as the Ep1 dragon's triple-foie attack, which it rapid-fires six times.
Pazuzu is the rare form of Zuu.
Name: Dolphon/Dolphon Eclair
Similarity: Delbitor
Ability: None
Location: Wilds, Crater
Dolphon is, in its entirety, a stronger but slower Delbitor. No AI tweeks were given to Dolphon.
Dolphon Eclair is the rare form of Dolphon, and casts rapid-fire Grants instead of a beam.
Name: Golan
Similarity: Booma
Abilites: Phase
Location: Desert 1, Desert 2, Desert 3
The Golan is the Booma of the Desert area; it will travel in packs, and try to swarm the player and strike with its claws.
Differences from it and the Booma include a much longer arm reach, and the ability to phase; when struck by a weapon, the Golan will dissappear from the area entirely, and reappear in an advantageous location. There are three variations; Golan, Piro Golan, and Golan Detonarta.
Golan will only phase when you hit it; Piro Golan will phase at will, but NOT when you hit it; Golan Detonarta phases whnever it damn well pleases
http://img188.exs.cx/img188/5254/monstergolan40sm.jpg
Name: Melissa-A/Melissa-B? (rare form not yet seen)
Similarity: Unique
Ability: None that I've seen
Location: Desert 2, Desert 3
Melissa can be compared to the Pofuilly Slime in behaviour, but differs so greatly that it is really in a category by itself.
The Melissa hops around the area trying to get close to the player, at which point it will either strike with one of its six spikes on its side, cast Gibarta, or bellyflop the player. Being struck by a spike in ultimate, the player is then frozen on the spot. NOTE: In ultimate, the chance of being frozen is 100%, whereas it is much lower in other difficulties.
Not damaging at all and very poor defense-wise, Melissas are not a threat on their own. Throw some more enemies into the mix, however and they become much more formidable, especially since being struck by a Melissa while frozen automatically overrides the previous effect; if you were almost unfrozen before, you just started over.
The rare form of Melissa exists, but has not yet been seen by anyone.
Name: Gil Tabril
Similarity: Mericarol
Ability: Tech change
Location: Desert 2, Desert 3
Gil Tabril is the miniboss of the desert, and is similar in most ways to the Mericarol. It's body is shaped very similarly, it swipes with its claws when the player is close, shoots from its head, and releases megid when within very close range of the player.
What makes it unique is its ability to change elements and use different techniques. When the body is red (shown), it will use a high level foie attack, blue means it will use high level gibarta, and yellow indicates gizonde is on its way. When it is idle or changing colors, it will be grey; this is your best time to strike, as it is defenseless and will not block the player's attacks.
EDIT: Here's the text from one of my pics. There's no cursor, so I don't know which variation the name belongs to. It's either the yellow one or the huge one:
thank you very much Cynric. how did I know you'd post for me.
heh
anyway, could you tell me what type of creature each one is?
I'm assuming sand rappy is native and golan is dark...
and is there a boss for this area yet?
Cynric
Mar 6, 2005, 03:22 PM
I can't remember some of the more subtle enemy types (Astark looks like it could be native or A.Beast), so I'll check later. Golan is obviously dark, what with the tell-tale glowing lights.
The boss for Ep4 isn't activated yet (only its empty room is there), so there's no info on it yet. There are two illegal pics of it in the "New area for Ep4" thread, and looking at it, it's most likely dark.
The only things left are the Bootas, Yowis (both variants), and Melissa (the pink desert worm). If someone wants to quickly go into BB and take shots of them (Yeah I know Melissa is impossible) and post them here, I'll write descriptions on them (or at least Melissa, which I've fought http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif ).
And by the way, it has been a long time since I saw ST's concept art of the Ep4 enemies, but I'm pretty sure I remember seeing a rare form of Melissa on it (I want to say it was blue). I looked for the topic here that had the pic, but it was purged and the pics no longrer exist on the BB website, so I can't get proof. Nites was the one who posted it, so maybe he still has it? Just remember to keep a look out for it when the Desert is finally released. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif
