View Full Version : I'm singing the national anthem on national television

If anyone cares, I'm leaving tonight with my chorus group to Washington, D.C. The Dorman Chorus is the only high school chorus that will be participating in the kick-off of the National Anthem Project in Washington D.C. We're singing at the Project Launch at Capitol Hill and at the gala afterwards (also at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, which should be cool). Good Morning America agreed to cut to live coverage of the event three times between 8:00 and 9:00 this Thursday. You can check out the web site at http://www.thenationalanthemproject.org if you want.

I'm excited. First of all, I'm taking a vacation from school. Secondly, this should generate a lot of positive PR not only for Dorman and the southeast, but for music education. I think we need to fight to keep the fine arts in schools, it's really rather sad how the legislature wants to cut them out. Kids in fine arts classes usually are higher level thinkers and statistically are academically superior to their fellow classmates. Don't let your state cut the fine arts programs! And now I'm off my soapbox.

But hey, if you watch Good Morning America on Thursday, you'll see my school. Hopefully they won't zoom in on the pale nerdy-looking ones and I'll be okay. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

HAHA! Never reveal where you're going! The time for your assassination is nigh!

No, but seriously, good luck with that.

wait, bush wants to kill music, or is it just legislation? either way its fucking bullshit! (dont give about warnings right now, this is SERIOUS to me) i love marching band, and if some fucking retard sitting in DC wants to fuck with my schools marching band, they deserve to die. we are goin to dc in may, and them mother-fucking legislative dweebs better watch how damn good we are, cause i cant live without musical education, and they dont have the nerve to understand how important music is... therefore, i shall find a way to make some sort of mass agreement against it (petition maybe?!) neways, if the bashing was bad, i dont care, i speak my opinion and i give too much to lose music to some dumb legislative freaks...

fine, but u can at least speak with some sort of civility. including fluck in every other sentence doesnt make you seem more angry, it makes you seem like a lunatic. anyways, not funding arts for schools is a shame; however, if the funds are redirected to aid in the classrooms, then yes this is unfortunate, but better education/music education in the long run. if the funds are just cut, well then obviously that sucks.
