Well, I happen to live in Las Vages, which is in Nevada, so I don't like it. How would you feel if somebody dumped the world's nuclear waste in your backyard?

First, it is a great hazard just to transport nuclear waste to Yucca Mountain. Common sense dictates it will be a great risk to transport the waste to Yucca Mountain from its point of origin. Also through this transit you will be endangering many citizens' lives. Second, I don't believe there is enough research to tell us what all the effects would be on the environment as well as the population. Even with advances in technology and medicine I don't believe we can cope in case of a catastrophe caused by terrorism, natural disaster, or equipment failure. Third, Las Vegas is a tourist destination. Many tourists will be reluctant to come to Las Vegas if they know they are not far from the nation's nuclear dump site. This will result in economic difficulties for our state and its citizens.
