Nintendo Power Issure #191

You know, Golden Sun is the most movie-compatible game since Ocarina of Time, and I'm surprised that nobody has written to Nintendo Power with some cast suggestions yet.

Here's a few to start pitching to Hollywood:

Keanu Reeves as Felix, Sandra Bullock as Jenna, Christina Ricci as Sheba, Leaonardo DiCaprio as Ivan, Johnny Depp as Alex, Tommy Lee Jones as Agatio, Nicole Kidman as Kart, Al Pacino as Saturos, Susan Sarandon as Menardi, Sean Connery as Kraden, and John Rhys-Davies as the voice of the Wise One.

No.

Fuck, I loved the Golden Sun games with a passion. The story was great, characters had depth, and an extremely fun gameplay. No way in hell do I want to see it made into a movie; especially with the actors for the characters this guy gave.

This artical made me so pissed, I personally want to hunt the idiot down and beat him. T_T

Hey now this could be rumors.

I remember about a Metroid movie before and other things we'd cry if we saw be a movie. All Canned.

Maybe this will be the same?

I sure fucking hope so. T_T

well, it'll never happen.
and if it does, let's hope it's all cg so there's no Keanu saying "woah" at everything.

Oh opinion! Then heavens no never worry!

Most cases people make movies off really big giant corps. Ah how you say...
FF, Link, Mario...etc. Suprised of why theres no hubbub of a Halo movie yet. . . <<;

But only the crew of Golden Sun players will know what the hell the Golden Sun Movie is anyway.

I've heard movie rumors for dozens of games, tv shows, and books, and about 6 of them happened. consider the odds in your favor, Tingle.

Was it a letter, or is someone they actually pay to think?

Outrider
Mar 26, 2005, 10:15 PM
That's the most generic cast I've ever seen.

I don't think that person has even seen more than ten movies in their entire lifetime.

And actually, Tingle, the Metroid movie hasn't been canned. Someone still owns the rights to make a movie, they're just not going ahead with it at the moment.

John Woo, director of Mission Impossible 2 and Pay Check. =)

I don't think a movie of Golden Sun would really be that interesting. They should move from GBA to a Golden Sun for the Cube or the DS. Dunno, just a suggestion http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

I don't think they can do anything with Golden Sun. They finished the story. >_>

Now, they just need to make new characters, and start it again http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

Do a sequil to The Lost Age. Make it like 50 years in the future, and now something is happeneing to the lighthouses...maybe they are just up and disappearing and the Djinni all leave the planet to go back to their homeland in space somewhere...and then uhm....Yeah...something happens http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

*SPOILER*

In the Lost Age, Alex recieved power from the Golden Sun, (however, not all of it). So he could have survived the collasping of Mt. Aleph. Do NOT quote me on this, it's merely my opinion.

Agreed.

And they picked all "good-looking" or "popular" actors.

Agreed. I can hardly ever afford new games for anything, let alone a system with almost no games I'd want >_>

Well, to be fair, there's not very many games I like http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

They should make Golden Sun for the Gamecube solely based on the fact that there aren't many RPGs for that system, and it could definitely help.

the only game I've ever seen that is remotely movie compatible, Is FF6. Even then I'd rather see it as a play or something...

FF6 couldn't really work because there are far too many main character. I'm surprised they even made it work in the game.

There are a bunch of games that could easily be turned into movies, but odds are, RPGs are not at the top of the list.

Don't worry TOH it just some guy who picked these actors to play as for Golden Sun it not even going to happen.

But yes I would like to track him down and hurt him since he made not want to read my NP because of that statement. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_nono.gif

Personally, if I could act, I'd make the perfect Ivan http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

But a Golden Sun movie would have things cut, and thus make it horrible. Say... Harry Potter? (Number 3 seemed to move around too quickly, and only if you read the book would you understand it)

I'd assume that FF6 would be broken into two plays WoB and WoR.

Regardless of that, there would still be too much to make it a decent play or movie.

There are 12 main characters in the game, 14 if you count Gogo and Umaro. All of them have some sort of limited backstory. Obviously, not all of them would be needed, but a significant number would have to show their faces. The plot is just far too in depth and expansive to fit into a 2-3 hour production, even if there was going to be a sequel.

Unfortunately, really the only good games that could become good movies are ones with a plot that can easily fit into a two hour film. As I said before, that basically cuts out most RPGs.

You'd have to stick to an 8-bit RPG for a movie. You could concievably fit the entirety of Phantasy Star's plot into a movie without losing anything. Something more complicated would take longer. Maybe a good miniseries.

Final Fantasy X IS a movie. :disapprove: You can't even really wander the non-existant world map. XD

It's not a video game, but I want to see my fic as a musical. XD I even have the perfect person picked out for the leading role of my HUmar. XP (Shirota Yuu, if you're wondering, who besides being hot and a good singer is even actually the exact right height. O_o;)

Yeah, but it's also 40+ hours long, which lets it fit in the whole plot.
