Appearently, the process IEXPLORE.EXE will pop up every few minutes for about 2-5 seconds in my Windows Task Manager. This wouldn't be a problem except:

1. Most of the times I'm not using IE.

2. It un-highlights the current window(just like when you click outside a window), and, when playing games like WoW, will minimize it.

I'm fairly sure it's not a virus, as I check some websites and said it's a virus only if all the letters are in lowercase. Whatever the problem is, it's annoying as hell.

Any ideas? =/

Probably a form of Spyware. Do you have a firewall, or an anti-spyware program?

Yeah, I have a firewall and I ran Ad-aware, which found a bunch of "my web search" files, which I deleted. Oddly enough, ever since I started looking for help on this problem, it stopped happening.

By the way, I'm using Firefox at the moment, if that helps.

EDIT: Here's all the IE files I found looking for IEXPLORE in the search program.

My web search? Not cool web search I hope. Its possible that its a spyware thats a bit more vicious, one that might alter the registry settings of IE.

If its windows XP, try uninstalling and reinstalling IE (You can't really uninstall it, but you can reset most of the files that way)

Failing that, set up multiple user accounts, and have IE banned from opening when logged in as you. lol That way everyone else can deal with the spyware issue and you can just enjoy the foxy fire.
