...People still play PSO?

You know you all wanted to hear that.

I play a bit in early May. Lately I don't have time for it, but when my classes finish by that time, I'll hang aroundo online for a few days.

PSOX: approximatly 500 US players...

...maybe 80 are legit and reside in a safe haven known as Davburite 10...

As for the wicked, nothing worse than Apatite.

Burn all Hacks and Dupes!

And yeah I play, everyday for at least 4 hours for the past two years.

I still havent stopped. Not since Dreamcast days. All it takes is someone to motivate you to continue on. Or motivate yourself http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

I guess once PSU is released I may play GC a little less than I do now.

There's still a good number of people playing on Deneb 6.

Well, there were alot of people playing on Deneb 6 until somebody crashed the block yesterday, OMGLOL.

They all moved to Deneb 10, afaik.

There's usually around 90 people in that block alone.

Unfortunately, there's a good amount of people using hacked items and dupes so finding a, what they call "legit", PSO player can be a challenge. =P

I, myself, play in that block from time to time. If you want to have a semi-good time in that block you should tend to follow some simple rules:

1) As soon as you enter Lobby 01, move to another Lobby. Sometimes there can be a random dick in there who will just FSOD everyone for fun.

2) To prevent the loss of items during FSOD, bank all your unequipped shit. If you have enough space, bank your tools as well. This way, if you get FSOD'd, you won't lose anything but your meseta on-hand. Bank meseta will also remain untouched.

3) If you do hang out at Lobby 01, don't try to act like Mr. Big Balls or Ms. Big Tits in the lobby. You'll probably end up pissing somebody off who will then FSOD you and everyone else there. (Of course you can just reconnect, but still.. it might get annoying!)

4) If you join a random open game, like I said, be prepared for someone using some weird shit. It doesn't always happen, but it does. Sometimes people make "Legit only" games, so you can try to target those for joining up.

5) If you're planning on playing PSO Episode 3 online, don't bother, unless you have a friend or enjoy fighting COMs. It's fucking useless to play PSO Episode 3 online due to two things, mostly.

The first thing is people using the boss characters and cards you cannot obtain normally to fight. The second thing is people using FSOD during battles. I had a friend yesterday join a human tourney. Her and her partner were winning a battle against some people with questionable decks. One of the other people on the opposing team basically said, "Stop attacking. If you attack us again, I'll FSOD you." her partner did attack and was FSOD'd, of course. So her partner was replaced with a COM. She basically just had to sit there while they beat her down because they were a bunch of poor cheap losers. Not very cool.

Oh, and I'm sure alot of people already know this, but if you're online in a lobby without having joined a game yet, even if you get FSOD'd, you won't lose anything. Even unequipped items. You may still lose meseta, though. (This is in regards to Episode I & II)

Anyhow, I think that about covers all the basic stuff about playing in a popular block online in PSO.

Cheers.

The Guild Card tip is good, didn't think of that. I usually don't accept or give out my guild card to people unless I've played a game with them.

So the guild card file and character file aren't seperate files anymore on the Gamecube? I haven't really bothered to look at what was on my memory card.

If they're two seperate files still, then I'd think that if it FSOD'd, you'd only get your guild cards corrupted and not your character.

Maybe so, though it is still better to avoid it. It is not like we would be testing it, although on a spare memory card we can.

Also, when a character is corrupted which have happened to me twice now, everything including the guild cards are wiped, so...

Then for some reason, they've made it one file. Pretty lame.

I liked when it was two different files on the Dreamcast, you could copy your GC file to another memory card and keep all your contacts.

(You know, since Dreamcast version of PSO only allowed ONE character per VMU. It forced me to get a 16x VMU with a switching button.)

Yeah I had my moments with the DC versions. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif I was using only one character through v1 and onto v2, even though I've got myself a 2nd memory card for another PSO character. But using pretty much just the one. Stopped playing when the official servers are down, and that was when I was lv 124. Got NOLed and messed around by the cheaters/hackers but have never got corrupted. Okay, we can now leave the topic to continue on for now and not to get it off-topic. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif
