Umm.. help?

Ok just got back from trying to beat the 3rd from of Falz in hard mode. My question is, does the Grants spell even effect him? it doesn't look like it, and as a force I don't have many other options. Also ever time HE casts grants, I die instantly, nothing I can do about it. (I imagine the only solution for the latter problem is to level up.) Any suggestions? Thank you in advance for all replies.
