Strange superstitions

I have arguably the worst luck on earth and when your luck gets that bad (particularly in PSO)Your last glimmer of hope are rabbits feet and superstitions that can't be proven,probably don't work and end up making you look like your in need of a straight jacket.BUT a Hunters gotta do what a hunters gotta do to get those rare items.So I figured I'd list some of the stranger things I've heard done out of desperation.It may or may not help you find that Agito,Sange or spread needle but it should atleast be good for a laugh or two and feel free to add your own.

1:Moving the little sparkling light out from the center of the loading screen,then moving it back to the center at the last second.Got an Agito 1975 and spotted a pair of pal rappies after this one!

2:Set "DROP A REDBOX!" as one of your quick commands then run circles around a monster shouting it 20 times.If your offline throw some cussing in the text too.Shouting Jack### may not help your efforts any but after the 50th Dragon how can you not want to call it a jack###.

3:On the subject of yelling at monsters,Many think threats better your chances of rare items simply because what vulmer in its right mind wouldn't drop a chainsawed for a guy running at him with a giant glowing sword yelling "DROP THE BOX OR BEND OVER!"

4:If you push the A button during the quest loading screen you can change the color of the swirling thing.Its considerd by many to be lucky to set it as close to your section ID as possible.

5:Beat them with a weapon made from their own body parts.What sadistic freak came up with this one?

6:If your rollin' in the dough leave some spare cash to the PSO gods just before you quit.This also works with that 400th DB's saber you just picked up.

7:As far as I'm concerned Rappy's wings are the rabbits feet of rigol.Why you ask?El RAppies are fat,white,I'm shure they make great stew meat not to mention the fact that theres so many they've got to be breeding like mad.

8:Never stare at the feet of enemies your fighting hoping to see a red box appear.A watched pot blah blah you know the rest.

9:Never and I mean NEVER equip a rare weapon before you get it tekked.I've heard stories about people equipping a weapon before its tekked and never getting anything since.

10:This is for all those who have such bad luck that they had to take the last 9 seriously.I know that pain all too well so the best superstition I can give you is that The more players the better.Not because you get more enemies in multi/Online (helps though since your going to need to see twice as many monsters to find what you want than anyone else) but because your going to need the combined luck of three more people just to break even and try not to play as player one.

Rofl. You know, I think I'v tried at least half of those.. I hotkeyed 'RED B0X OR ANAL' for about a month when I piped syncesta and couldn't pull the damn thing to save my life.. Thinking about all the wierd ass stuff me and friends do to get boxes, it's actually sort of funny. One of my friends thought it would be funny to get sil down a bit and melee him to death, and it dropped a claw for em. I was a wee bit jealous.. If you're ever an android trying to make a rappy drop a red box, don't walk away and leave it trapped.. Trapped rappies NEVER drop for me ;-; After using all of my freeze and damage traps, I just started shooting them and on my second or third one, bam. Red box plx? Awhile ago, I read in some post that someone turned the loading screen red for rares, so I did it on my second or third ult cave run.. Found a chain sawd and later a red slime with demo comet. Rather nice run..

Oh god I've been doing some of that stuff... I didn't realize that anyone else was as desperate as I am, heh. I do the Quest Swirly color thing (red for rares, or sometimes try to get it close to my ID color), move the loading cursor... but, I also look at the enemy's feet for that box. Will stop now, heh..

Think I'll hotkey something fun, too. "Red Box or Red Cox!1" sounds good.

I had a couple of Symbol Chats when hunting the J-Sword. Once was a Sato saying 'Give SJS' and the other was 'No (picture of sword) 4 Skyly'. Despite repeated usage, Gi Gue still hasn't gave up the goods.

When I was looking for a Skyly Red Sword, I had this as a shortcut.

I did the same for Agito.Once I finally found it in honor of the event I changed the hotkey to "You F with me you F with orotiagito!".Ill have to resist using the hotkey once I get online though lol.

One thing that I find hilarious is when I spend months looking for that one rare item then once I finally find it,I can't seem to stop.Chain saweds for everyone lol.

Heh, not just me with the weird superstitions! I used to "sacrifice" lesser rares to the PSO Gods and change my chars colours to red in the hope of attracting some luck. Must have worked as I found a Lavis (no Syncestas though) and the 1975 Agito so now I sort of have to do this when I'm on an uber hunt...XD

Wow, holy S! I've never heard of ANY of these things, let alone that any superstition of drops existed!!! Wow... Just wow.

On a side of my rares... I did find a Lavis Cannon on a red slime, but I gave it away just before switching to FFXI. ; ; Also found Red Partisan (as seen in my sig, I so loved it...), but I froze or something and lost it... Wait! Morgan said she took that pic when I froze! OH NOES!!! ; ;

only things i do is i go to the principals office and standin the center before i go into Ruins.and than rightbefore i fight Falz i take my character over to those grave type things and let him stand there in silence for 5 seconds.and i unequip everything during this too.no reason for it.just do it :-/

Of course we know these don't change our chances of getting rares! That's why they're superstitions, not required steps.

I've been leaving everything I find in the forest on P2 near the telepipe spot before I quit/quest reset my game when I'm hunting for my Holy Ray, but it's been going unappreciated... maybe I'll build a shrine to ol' Silly Dragon near the Central Dome, using Meseta and crap rares I find on the way there!

Ooh, a fun thought for something to spam him with: "Silly Dragon, Holy Rays are for ME!"

I've made some of the... freakiest predictions when it comes to this game. One of the first cases was during an Oran HS run, and I thought something along the lines of "Wouldn't it be nice if a PD came from a box?", few minutes later, BAM, a PD. From a box. Another case would be in a late night, offline Oran Caves run. When I got to Caves 2, I thought something along the lines of "Wouldn't it be nice if a Red Slime appeared and drop a Guard Wave?", minutes later, BAM, Red Slime. What did it drop? Guard Wave. Now, in the BB beta, this has happened with rare enemy appearences. I thought that a rare enemy might show up in my next run, and I'll be damned, it appeared. Guess you can call me a psychic. Or there have been many, many conicidences around me. Either way, I'm still creeped out how many times this has happened...

I have a friend who used to play that would always make predictions of when a rare enemy was going to come, especially when piping. I was with him once while he was looking for a Hildeblue for it's cane, and he kept tricking me by saying he found it (I was so bored I couldn't even look at the TV at the time).

Doing skyly east tower runs i screamed at i gi gue "Drop it, fat tits." everyone laughed and we killed it and it dropped a red box everyone screamed he dropped it, i just stood over it and let everyone see the pretty PD =P

Maybe bribing monsters works? Well, when I'm hunting rares, I just think "red box, red box, red box" etc. when I'm killing the enemy that drops the item I want.

Edit: I do realize this post does require some scrolling. I will edit it if someone sees anything wrong, Rules-wise, with the post.
