Is it possible, even in theory to gather ANY rare weapons in offline mode-without ever going online?
If so, what have you found, besides the frying pan which is a fairly easy grab...

there is no easy way to find rare weapons in offline mode....
tons of people have found plently of rare weps sometime or another while playin in offline, it just takes time and patience, and a lot of luck.
if you want to find rare weapons, you will have more chance finding them in ult mode, even though a couple of them come up in v.hard.
i have found things like red saber, red handgun, sting tip, double saber, demonic fork..etc but it mostly depends on section id whether or not u find certain rare weps

You can also get the soul eater by doing those offline quests ... don't remeber how though.

Off-line you can get Akiko Frying Pan and Soul Eater, both from quests (Soul Eater FAQ can be found here (http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/dreamcast/file/phantasy_star_online_soul_eater.txt))

You can find a lot of other items off-line; they are too many to list them here ^_^

Just post you section ID and the difficult mode you are actually playing and I'm sure someone will write a more accurate anwer for you.

On normal at the moment-gonna play to ultimate mode then switch to my ranger-I have like five memory cards worth of PSO characters X_X I might try V1 online-not going to pay for only one month of V2...

The book of Katana is one of 3 books. you need all 3 to get the true agito.

wrong, u don't need all 3 books to get the true agito, i didn't have any book of katana's when i got my true agito, u just have to make sure u get a agito with it being made in 1975. the book of katanas have nothing to do with it.

The more hour of gameplay you have, the higher are the odds of getting a rare weapon.

At least every other rappy gives me a lavis cannon. Once I got a lavis cannon from every rappy in the room, and each had 0/60/60/60.

The number of hours you have only increases your chances of finding a rare because you have simply played longer. A person that just started a difficulty level is as likely to find an item as somebody that has been playing that difficulty level for 1000 hours.

It's tough. You have to kill a rappy exactly when you reach 99 hours. Not 99 hours and 1 second, not 98 hours and 59 minutes and 59 seconds, exactly 99 hours when you kill it.

It could take some practice, so you might want to try it with multiple characters.[/sarcasm]

You can't find a lavis cannon on normal mode.

Regardless, lavis cannons aren't dropped in normal mode.
