Time to test a new sig which features both websites of mine...The 155 height should work out for the 2 lines of text and not go over the max height. It is under the max file size. Now the only thing to see...is it visible..

Hooray it works! If the size and everything is right then it's good to go! Is it ok? Is the size and all still good? Does it look cool enough?

So someday hoping to aspire to becoming some kind of graphics-ish n00b, this (http://www.nether-realm.com/img/sig-test.html) is my first attempt at some sorta self-made sig. However, I can't decide which, if any, to actually use. There is one additional element that will be added to any self-made sig I eventually decide on. Lacking any other (or better) subject matter, and not being able to fully achieve the effects I envisioned, it's all I could come up with... -__-; Utter crap compared to what other people can do? Fully. Imaginative, or creative? Pfft, hardly. At least I can say I learned something from trying to do it...

So A was what I first ended up with. B is kind of an intermediate step to what I originally envisioned. C is a lot closer to what I originally envisioned. After seeing how C turned out, I was right in thinking that what I originally envisioned most likely wouldn't exactly "work" (some letters being a bit unclear). I could potentially change the font to try get it to work a bit better, or even try a different stroke color/shade/hue (not really sure what the correct term is). However I like this font for this and don't really want to change it... :/ So I guess I'm either stuck, or I'll just have to "settle" for something. Ehh, maybe I'm just being too critical of myself, or close-minded, or something. It is, after all, my first attempt at anything like this...

So D is a modification of C, with good/bad results... As it turns out I also somehow managed to screw up the Saving of D, given that E is slightly better in quality... Or maybe it was a different change... I'm not totally sure why I'm even keeping all of 'em there...

Question: Now that I've chosen what is going to pass as a sig for now, I'm guessing there is no way to remove the background completely in a .jpg, correct? If not then I may need to look for some kind of suitably decent background... -__-;

Whenever you are looking for a new signature image, just right-click on it and click Properties. That will tell you the exact file size.

In general, a gif should be smaller than a JPEG. However, it is likely you'll lose some of the colors in the conversion.

GIF files can actually be larger than optimized JPEGs if they contain too many different colors to be efficiently optimized. Generally, if you have an image with a lot of different colors (not different shades of the same color, but completely different colors) you should just save it as an optimized jpeg. If you have an image with many similar colors in it (say, an image that is mostly blue and purple), you can often save it as a .gif and cut down on the file size a bit, since .gif images can selectively use up to a maximum of 256 colors.

However, the quality of the one you posted is fairly distorted, which leads me to believe it's already been optimized with something else (from the looks of it, some freeware image optimizer or something). It was actually incredibly easy to make. Firstly, I hunted down a larged-sized poster of this image that's been floating around, then I popped it into XnView and resized/cropped it. Once that was done, saved it as a PNG, then opened it in MS Paint.

After that, it was a simple matter of making a nice little border. It's made of three one-pixel lines, alternating from black, to white, to black again. Then I sent it to Link00seven, who graciously saved it as a loss-less JPG for me!

Oh, and the source of the image is some of the awesome lineart for Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance (a great GBA game) by Ayami Kojima.

When i try and make it 600x180 I type 600 and try and make the bottom 180 but it switches between those two =< and idea on what i can do?

I was wondering how to make an image non-blurry? I don't have photoshop unfortunately, I had to do this in Paint. I know it's not much altering in terms of the snapshot, but it's the best I can do.. I'm not much good at making sigs.

Reduce the number of colors or maybe frames to bring the filesize down, or you won't have it long. You're currently more than 4 times over the filesize limit of 35,000 bytes. Also, we have a floating sticky (http://www.pso-world.com/viewtopic.php?topic=100982&forum=12) for sigs.

Ok one, the characters you extracted are good looking yes, but, you used the magic wand tool didn't you? You should make a new path on that layer and use the pen tool to trace around your guy. It's actually alot easier to do it like that.

You have a nice font, but its real scrunched up in the corners. Use the paragraph tool and space the words out a bit.

Now, onto my member title, that has to do with my sig being deleted for being too big, but the fact is, it WASN'T, there was less than 5 lines in it and less than 35kb (the images are around 33kb altogether).
