I just watched this movie/documentry called "Supersize Me" and never again shall i eat fast food unless its subway.

Its about this guy and he goes 30days only eating food at mcdonalds. In the movie theres interviews with various important people that are all about health and I learned a LOT of things about the history of fast food and how super sizing is very bad.(Don't call me dumb but i never knew about supersizing until now) Also in the movie you can see how the fast food changes the guy. He gets a bit fat and he starts having mood swings.

Also you learn about how unhealthy america is in general.

Oh yeah, and I learned about where Chicken Mcnuggets come from.......ewwww.

Part of me wants to become a vegan after watching that movie.

Well, if you eat nothing but fast food straight for 30 days, of course you're going to become a big fat slob. >_>;

As I understand it, his month-long binge on fast food was a kind of gimmick to attract people to the documentary, which was about fast food in America.

Try reading "Fast Food Nation", it's another book that will disgust you about the fast food nation, in more ways than one. ^_^

Well he did eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Everyday. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_no.gif

I work in fast food but am one of the skinniest people there. Why? Moderation. Burning off calories. not going overboard.

Hell, an overwieght co-worker saw that documentary also and decided to cut back and start working out. He's on his way, and this DVD showed him the horrors of overeating.

I usually hate "burger-joints" but my parents live by the dollar menu, even if we can afford better food. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_cry.gif

And boy I see obese people everywhere and it saddens me much more than it amuses/sickens me.

Also that guy has a show on FX now too. I watched a few episodes about living on minimum wage for 30 days, and living without polluting the Earth for 30 days. Informative stuff with some humor in it as well. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

Meh, I read Fast Food Nation and wasn't impressed. It didn't strike me as anything other than propaganda consisting of a lot of quotes and situations that were obviously taken out of context.

I mean, it's clear that fast food is gross and bad for you. I really didn't need a militant book dragging on and on about it for over 200 pages to grasp that fact.

Business is business.

The fastest and most inexpensive way to make the food is what companies look out for (substitutes, mass killings, etc). They try to avoid animal right laws and other junk of course they try to hide this from the public so no one knows about it...

I watched the documentary, I'm not surprised with it. Though I have found stray bones in my burgers once (but seriously I do not want to see fingers insects or metalic parts in my food), but I didn't report it. Guess I'm lazy or I'm just if it kills me, it kills me attitude...

Though what really gets me about the stupidity of the American public is...

"I spilled coffee on me, I think I'll sue because there is no warning label."

"I ate at McDonalds and now I'm fat." (person say he is lazy to cook his own food)

-shrugs- Whatever.

Yeah, McDonald's doesn't actually do the "Super size" thing anymore... Everytime I tell them to super size my meal now, they get all testy on me, saying, "We don't do that, anymore."

So I'm thinkin'... You know what I mean, you freak. Just give me a large fries and beverage with that hamburger.

You'd give up meat and broccoli over this video?

I was just joking on the vegan part. Umm, I never had a problem with my wieght/health because we eat a bunch of salads and rice and for the sweets we eat or drink, their all low fat or soy.

My thoughts over the movie:

That movie really just opened my eyes of what fast food is. Though, in my house, we only eat fast food once out once out of every 2 months,(sometimes i might eat it about 3 times a month cuz i'm with friends) it just occured to me that anything that you eat and suppose to gain energy and vitamins from that actually harms your body is bad.

One thing i didn't agree with in the movie was the whole support of suing Mcdonalds. Fast Food is Fast Food. Its suppose to be a quick meal for every now and thens and anything that is made fast or quickly, like video games, food and even appliances, is never good. When you claim that Mdonalds made you fat then i think you should check yourself. No one really put a gun up to your head and force you to eat at Mcdonalds and to eat that certain meal.

Well, thats just my thought over the whole movie and situation over obesity. A person's health choices should be taught when their young by the parents.

My mom never had a talk with me over health but ever since I was little we've always ate/drank low fat things. We barely ate fast food and i grew up always seeing my mom exercise everyday. Parents really don't have to talk to their kids about healthy eating because most times(i said most cuz their are exceptions) the way the kids eat are usually a reflection of how their parents eat.By watching my mom exercise and buy low fat things I now buy low fat things and exercise every day.(well not everyday lol)

Well i'm done rambling but i do have one more thing to say. In the movie, is it me, or did everytime they show a pic of Ronald Mcdonald he looked extremely evil.

Of course eating McDonalds for 30 days for every meal will make you disgustingly overweight. Being shocked about that is like being shocked that someone died from drinking a glass of chlorine every day.

So hey, don't take this guy's documentary so seriously. It looks like he just wanted to make some quick easy cash. :B

P.S. McDonalds is nasty as hell.

http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_beer.gif I'll drink to that.

Anyways, don't make fun of Vegan food. I may not be a vegan...but some of that meatless meat stuff is pretty darn good. Whenever i make hot dogs, i always grab the vegan ones rather than the normal ones o.o;; Hahaha...those hot dogs also go good in Mac n' Cheese http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Bob, you deserve a gold medal for that line.

I'll worry about what I eat after I die. I'm relatively healthy, and know how to curb my snack/junk food binging habits with the occasional health food binge. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_eek.gif

I believe in balance, and with that comes a responsibility to eat poorly as often as I eat well. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Woman loses 33lbs on Macdonalds only diet (http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_1459655.html?menu=)

And I quote:

"She's created, for her lifestyle, a very smart diet. The moral of the story for every person is, you've got to work out a plan that fits your lifestyle."

It isn't just about fast food. It is also about the "I want it bigger, and more!" The lack of control when it comes to food since fast food make it really easy for you to over-eat.

I did want to watch it, but when I got it used, it wouldn't play. I might go out and get it, I need some ambition to get off Fast Food for good. (ugh, grease)

I just got finished writing the whole story of that one another forum, so why not do it again.

The McDonald's had already had many complaints about the coffee being hot (200 degrees + because they would add hot water to it to make it cheaper). She also only sued for the amount of the operation which was $20k(needed skin grafts). McDonald's than gave her $200K compesatory damage and the jury gave her $2.7 mil punitive damage.

If you are not talking about that case...sorry.

And if this is another one of those sarcasm things....http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

More like horror story that gets passed along and the details change per each new person its passed along to.

Say for instance one person only reads the headline and not a full story, then they tell it to a friend, that person tells a friend, while filling in details that were left out and you end up with this.

Or it could have happened more than once? People jump to the conclusion that the woman was wrong for spilling the coffee then suing for the medical costs. Anywho, why not link to the original story maybe?

Apologies for that previous thing about sarcasm, if it seems to affect your thining in matters of quoting. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

On this subject, I agree with you, absolutely. McDonald's is not responsible for the food you choose to eat, only the food you choose to buy from there.

As far as the vegan thing, I was joking, as well. It's an odd fact, though-- vegans don't eat broccoli (as well as a number of other vegetables), because it turns out that the plants they're harvested from have some manner of neural (or similar) tissue.

And here I thought this was going to be a thread about Discharge's landmark release "Never Again".

How terribly disappointing.

I still need to see that movie though, but my astonomical late fees have detered me for the past two months or so.
