Well, well well... hello!

Anyway, you're asking many vague questions so try to bear with me.

PSO is short for "Phantasy Star Online", an online RPG that allows for teams up to four members. There are many versions of this game, available for the Sega Dreamcast, Nintendo Gamecube, Microsoft X-Box, and the PC.

The Dreamcast version is no longer available for play online in the United States, plus the fact you need a Dreamcast system and a copy of the game itself to play. This game has Episode 1.

The Nintendo Gamecube version has "PSO Plus", that has additional features compared to the original PSO that debuted on that machine. Both versions released on the Gamecube have Episodes 1&2, while the "Plus" version has extra quests available for play offline. Drawbacks are is that to play, you need a Gamecube, a copy of either game, and a modem/broadband adapter to play online.

The X-Box version is just like the original PSO release on the Gamecube. It contains Episodes1&2, and also has voice chat. Drawbacks are is that you need an X-Box, a Gamertag to play either offline or online, and a subscription to X-Box Live! to play online.

The PC version of PSO is called "PSO: Blue Burst", as it is the latest version to be released. It has Episodes 1&2&4, and is for immediate download at http://www.psobb.com . You don't pay anything for the client that you'll download, but like any other version of PSO, there is a monthly fee of approximately $9.00 a month.
... EDIT: Like any other version of PSO, any new user to that version of PSO gets a free trial. The Gamecube version of PSO gives you a free 1-trial, the X-Box version gives you a 2-month trial, while the PC version gives you a 2-week trial.
Once you're in the world of PSO, you'll be able to create characters. There are twelve classes in PSO, arranged in groups - the Hunters, the Rangers, and the Forces.

Hunters are adet at upclose combat. You can choose from HUmar (human male), HUnewearl (newman female), HUcast (andoid male), and the HUcaseal (android female).

Rangers are adept to ranged combat. You can choose from RAmar (human male), RAmarl (human female), RAcast (android male), and the RAcaseal (android female).

Forces are adept to using magic and techniques. You can choose from FOmar (human male), FOmarl (human female), FOnewm (newman male), and FOnewearl (newman female).

You can read up about these various classes on the website, under Episode1&2&4 Guides > Class Comparisons.

After that, its like a mini MMORPG. Kill things, level up, get new items and meet new friends.

Hope this helped.

Not really.
Considering how addicting this game is, I have no qualms shelling out $9 a month for hours of entertainment.

For as much as 3 gallons of gas, 2 packages of cigarettes, a case of beer, 1/10 of a pair of Abercrombie and Fitch Pants, etc... you have access to PSO. Its like renting 3 games a month.

No problem paying $10 for games that you'll rent for about 3 days put together. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

If you want a free online game, try http://gunbound.softnyx.net/

Otherwise.
Don't complain about the price. At lest you're not paying for the client, unlike other RPGs on the internet. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

Also, don't forget that you're actually not paying for the game, you're only paying for a HL. Japanese players had to pay seperatley for Episode 4, which is included free with PSOBB in the US version.

the nine bucks is well worth it, plus you get the first two months free. Trust me this game will eat up your time...

I think you mean the first 2 weeks free.

Ok, by computer version, I'm assuming you mean Blue Burst. If it's version 2 (an older version of the game), I can't help you, but someone here will be able to.

To start playing, you need your Hunters License. This was covered by answerman, read their post for details. This will cost you $9 (£5.99 for UK), and you get a free 2 week trial.

Once that's sorted out, you should have a game account. On the title screen, go to 'register user ID', after pressing Enter. In this section, type the username and password you created.

If you cannot type anything, you need to adjust your regional settings. To do this, (I'm using Windows XP, so bear with me), Click Start->Control Panel->Regional and Language Options. In this menu, click on the Languages tab, and untick 'install files for East Asian Languages'. Click Ok, and re-load Blue Burst. This should enable you to type.

Once your details are entered, go to 'Patch Download'. This will install any new files that have been released, and will close down Blue Burst once complete. Re-load Blue Burst, and go to 'Start Game'.

After a few seconds, a message will appear, prompting you to press Enter. Do this, and wait. After a while, a character select screen will appear. Select an empty slot to create a new character, or press on an existing character and press confirm to choose them.

Character creation is simple- just choose Type (Hunter, ranger or force), and class (HUmar, HUnewearl, HUcast, HUcaseal, RAmar, RAmarl, RAcast, RAcaseal, FOmar, FOmarl, FOnewm or FOnewearl), and set a costume, skin colour, hair etc. (or head and colour for androids).

Once that's done, choose a name (this, combined with your class will give you a coloured badge called a Section ID. This ID is used to determine what types of equipment you will find more often. Skyly for example, finds swords often, so is usually considered a Hunter's ID. Now your character is made.

After a few seconds, a ship select will appear. Choose any ship (use Tab to see how many people are on that ship), and choose a block. You will be transported to the lobby. Here you can interact with other players, and arrange games.

To get a game going, go to the counter, and press Enter to talk to a lady. Select create party if you want to make a game, or join party to join an existing game. Choose an episode (I'd suggest Episode1 first, then 2, then 4), and enter the game name, password. You will be transported to the Hunter's Guild.

From there, you can use the teleporter to get to the surface and fight enemies, or use the Guild desk to start quests. (In Blue Burst, there is also Government quests, find the appropiate teleporter for these).

Hope that helps out a bit =
