View Full Version : Ep1 vs Ep2 vs Ep4

ok, im really at a standstill. I would like to know which would be the best for leveling.

Ep1:
Doing normal runs(Forest-Ruins) is plentiful experience. but it seems to take a while.

Ep2:
(dont play to often don't know why...)

Ep4:
Loads of eneimes and high experience value. but lack of boss experience

For example...

I make a new char. If i go through ep1 and beat it, the maximum level i could get is maybe 17+

VS.

Ep4 i can go from level 1 to level 14 in about 5 minutes. =/ i thought ep4 would be a gold mine for experience. and its easy not to die there. Yet im told more expeince doing normal ep1 runs due to boss experience. Are they really worth the run? i do an ultimate run and i loose more experience in the ruins than gain. basically its only going for rares for me =/ but, i like it. it's hectic lol.

now for ep4, you get new stuff(HOPEFULLY) and alot more fun, better music >>;; but one boss who is on steroids. and the annoying enemies in the desert =/ aka Ranger haters.

so what i would like to know is which episode is best for leveling? am i really missing out in ep2? or is it just as bad as ep1?

Anyway, from what I know it's still boss-rush TTFs. Despite the improved EP2 EXP and the good EP4 EXP, EP1 is easy to destroy; the bosses give loads of experience too.

I'd have to go with ep1. Leveling in ep4 my be quicker but it lacks bosses and it's much easier to die so you gain exp.

Having never played Ep4, I will say that I usually do Ep1 more when I'm going for levels.

I might be the sole one, but I prefer doing EP2 runs instead, maybe mainly for the drops I haven't got there yet. I just love CCA and seabed!

I love CCA personally and find that, on BB, EP2 gives great experience. That said, Heat Sword runs are still a very efficient if slightly boring way of levelling.

but, would ep2 give more exp right now, due to Max attack? or is it too hard on ultimate?

The MA2 quest on ultimate is probably best attempted as a group. High EDK makes the temple part a breeze and the Spaceship bit only really has the Baranz to worry about but it can get pretty nasty in Jungle North with the 3 giant planty things (names really are not my strong point...XD) unless someone in the group is packing a FS.

That said, it's great exp...

Mericarol, merikle, Mericus i guess

They are...HArd *so well, mericarol is offline for HUne's anyways ><

If you go for Ult MA2, use the Mountain route or the Seaside route, that way you don't have to worry about 1 hit kills.

That said, pack high EDK and do Temple and Spaceship runs (5-5 and 6-5 for example) they're rather OK too.

Good point, because offline they do not kill you as easily... <_>

Actually, they do. They still kill you in one "spit". But maybe you meant the fact that you dont fight 3 at a time?

are they that difficult? i mean are they shooting megid type attack? and do they gove enough exp to call a worth while kill?

Well, the attack does not have a dark element, but in Ultimate, they still kill you in one hit.

If I remember correctly, Merikle and Mericus give quite an amount more EXP than Mericarol- but since these are only encountered online(I think?), you'll likely be fighting a few at once, like in MA#2.

As said, try and avoid the Jungle route if you can, bearing in mind the One Hit Kills (OHK). However, you need to remember that online Ultimate, Gi Gue's counter attack does 900 fixed damage, and Gibbles big swing does 1000 I believe?, so watch out for those.

Go Seaside then, you can run for cover easily against the 3 Gi Gues... just hit one a few times, and run out the room. If it goes to counter-attack, just turn and run, and hope for the best ><

The main gripe about fighting Gi Gue is the added possibility of Jellen/Zalure/Confuse =/

Isn't it lucky we have cure/confuse and sol atm.

Well, me and Malice found a mericus doing 7-4, whether you count that as online or not is up to you.

I was being sarcastic.
I doubt CCA and harder areas are good for exp at low levels when you still die more often... x_x;

yeah, i would class that as online... Government/Lab quests are multiplayer, but can be completed solo if need be. I dont think Ive seen a Mericus there yet though http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_eek.gif

@Tycho:
Early on, easier areas are better EXP Ive found,so I agree with you there, since you can kill enemies much quicker, and the EXP mounts up fairly fast- as opposed to killing slower for more EXP. It all depends on how long it takes to get a kill. Obviously, taking a long time to kill a Mericarol wouldn't really be efficient.. XD

arn't mericus/merikle rare monsters?

Neith
Aug 30, 2005, 04:30 PM
They're not 'true' rare monsters, but I think in some quests they act as them, meaning there's a chance they'll appear rather than Mericarol?

I know that in Phantasmal World#4, they always appear.

There's also 1 of each in the second room of Jungle East in MA2.

Well, even with Kamica telling me how he can get 300k in Ult Desert in an hour... Double ttf in that amount of time is still a wee bit better.

There isnt always 1 of each there, more often than not i end up with 3 mericarol x_X

There's 1 of each kind in the first enemy room in jungle north of MA2, though.

Episode 1 bores me... I prefer leveling off Episode 2. It has increased exp and the boss exp that episode 4 lacks.

EP1 for almost nothing except minor hunts
EP2 for hunts and and fun
EP4 for hunts and exp
