Ehh.... Imps don't have glowy eyes... Big boo there. Imps have always had glowing eyes, red or orange. Just from the short teaser, it seems a bit... watered down from the games. Poo, I had been hoping it would have been good. Oh well, I can always hold out for, "Half-Life: The Movie". XD

Reasons:

-There's The Rock in it.
-CGs all over. There is more CGing than there are real decors in this movie.
-First-person scenes. That's right. FPS-style scenes.
-Imps could've easily be made into costumes and look tons more real.

Seriously, KodiaX. The only thing you need to know, to be made readily aware of the fact that it's not going to be a terribly good movie, is that it is based on a game that existed early enough in its genre, that a story was nearly impossible to be carried out at the time. We can also assume that the movie's plot will only very loosely follow the plot of the games.

I will point out though, it seems lately that the public's primary interest in movies seems to be in tons of unnecessary action, and a movie would even be hastily forgiven if half of it were left unexplained. On that merit, I suggest that Doom will successfully obtain moderate success in the box office, though it's unlikely to be remembered for any considerable length of time.

I can at least say, personally, that I'll likely see it in the theater, if only just because I was dead-hooked on the game when it was new.

Heh, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks this movie is gonna blow. As kodi mentioned, the FPS style scenes are beyond stupid and are completely unnecessary for the movie and from the looks of it, there may be alot of that. Diehard fans may think its a cool tribute to the game, but I sure as hell don't. And yeah, I'm not a fan of The Rock "head" in any sense. Hey Rock can YOU smell whats cooking?...its the end of your movie career (hopefully.) Anyway, like a moron I'm sure I'll file into the movie theater with my girlfriend to see it, if for no other reason than to put on my own personal little MST2K episode. This is exactly the tripe I expect Hollywood to shovel out for a license like this.

The trailer has left a small amount of hatred in me. The film just does not scream 'DOOM!' at me. It looks like a generic Zombie/Monster shoot em up movie with the only thing tying it into the Doom Mytho's is the use of the BFG.

I heard the plot and first thing that came to my mind was "This could be barely passable as a Quake movie, but not by much". Oh Hollywood, how can you burn me so much?!

Sadly I will be going to see this film, Im that much of a Doom freak.

Anyway, I'm sure this piece of garbage will do moderately well which will mean sequels. I foresee it becoming one of those franchises that starts off with one or two big screen movies then fades into the direct to video arena ala HellRaiser.

I haven't seen the trailer, but if they can scrap everything that's already been done, and do it right (With all the satanic and demonic goodness) I'll go and watch it in theaters to see if they actually manage to make the movie half as good as the games.

Or, if it manages to scare the piss out of me like Doom 3, I'll be pleased.

it looks terrible...

the only thing that redeems it in my eyes is the fact that it has the name DOOM attached to it...

much like the Resident Evil movies...(which also apparently had the name DOOM attached to them...)
