Its called Beyblade

I've yet to watch it but he is very, very obsessed with it. He prints pictures, got a shirt, and bught toys and video games. It looks kinda childish to me. Has anyone heard of this anime and what do you think about it?

That show was my life along time ago!

Haha, Beyblades. My friend and I caught that show once when we were flipping channels and couldn't get over how funny it was. The basic idea of the show is that two "combatants" fire off these little spinning discs into an arena where the discs spin around and crash into each other. It was based on a weird collectable game of the same nature from a few years ago (or maybe the game was based on the anime, who knows).

The thing was, the fighters were getting all emotional and appeared to be connected to their discs somehow. They would say things like, "Oh no, he's recovering from that blow! But how can it be?! That was my strongest attack!!" We were laughing our guts out just wondering how the heck they felt their skill as "Beybladers" or whatever was controlling spinning tops in an arena between them.

Of course, this was just an out-of-the-blue tail end of one episode. Perhaps it wouldn't seem as funny if I'd seen the whole series or at least had a halfway decent idea of what was going on.

CupOfCoffee. A few years back, a group of kids I worked with were into this garbage. The tail end that you saw is an accurate portrayal of the show. It was dumb as hell.

No offense to those who like the show but I tried watching it and its just not all that great.

Just like what Cup of Cofee said, their getting all emotional and acting like their lives are on the line over.....spinning tops.

I just don't know why my bro is soo in love hes going around throwing his top at folks. (reminds me of myself back in my pokemon days)

Well, they always did make things ohso serious with playing basketball... so why not tops?

Alot of these kids hero shows never seemed too good to me anyway.

A quirky idea though. Gotta give them that http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Heh, just to nitpick http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif, and yeah I've actually seen all three (I think three anyway, maybe four) seasons that have aired in my area, there was nothing else on during that time slot ;p, it wasn't necessarily the tops themselves they were so "worked up" about, but the bit beasts in them...

Blah blah, bit beasts basically equal power, the heroes (hmm maybe "main characters" would be a better term) control the (arguably) most powerful bit beasts, blah blah, "evil" people try-... Erm... Ahem, I could likely get into more, but umm... won't. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

The only thing that came out of Beyblade were the Beyblades themselves. You could literally chuck these heavy suckers at some kid's forehead and kill him.

I think they take normal tops (Is that the word?) and make it modern, and with a bit of life in them. Kids challenge themselves to top fights, and it seems their soul controls how it spins, and where it spins.
