Sabers as Lightsabers?

This is a thought that just now has come back, which has not accured to me since the first few days of played PSO. Would you consider the "saber" part of a brand, daggers, twin weapon to be like a Lightsaber. Would it cut through most things and enemies? If I were to look at it through the context of playing the game I would say no, but even in Star Wars games enemies can "block" a lightsaber. I'm just curious as to what your take on it is?

Also, lightsabers and the weapons of PSO rely on the same principle: photons.

I would imagine it's a little stronger then a steel sword, possessing some of the same properties, but, but no where as far powerful as a lightsaber.
