Not sure if there has any previous post on this but if there was i don't really want to bump them.

Just rectnly(today) I was able to play FFXI. Made my char and had a blast XD it's challenging(meaning i died like 6 times haha) Really cool on how you can change job whenever you want. There are plenty of jobs to choose from and you can make your char how you like it pretty much. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif hope to see you all there =D

I used to play, for about 6 months. Just got too slow for me and I didn't have the time to level up anymore(1 hour LFG and then 3 hours for one level wasn't...good). My highest was only 42(Maybe 43, was May when I last played, which means my character should be gone).

I had fun with it, met some cool people I talk to sometimes. Despite all the drama on my sever around the time I left, I had a good time, and if I had the time and money, I'd probably keep playing.

For the curious, and because I'm bored. I was a Tarutaru from Bastok. Main was summoner. Although I enjoyed it, and especially enjoyed getting all the avatars(Save fenrir). I had fun doing Warrior since tarus were the worse race for tanks.

Gah, I miss Carbuncle. Wish I had some screenshots on this computer ._.;

The first day I played it, I played for about a day and a half straight. It was pretty fun.

But then I never played it again for some reason, and I still have no desire to play it.

It takes much, much too long to level up. And you're not even doing anything significant while doing so either. Very poorly made, now that I'm able to play it.

I'm currently on a break from FFXI, for an undetermined amount of time. I'm waiting for PSU to be released, but with the footage of what appears to be Blue Mage being added in the next expansion, I might play a while longer...

I've had a serious hate/love relationship with FFXI and ultimately quit it for good. The only thing that made it worth a damn were the friends I have that were also on it. For the most part, the FFXI community is full of self-centered, greedy players who'd break a friendship in a heartbeat if they'd get a piece of AF2 armor out of it, and I just couldn't take it anymore. I love helping people, but there was next to no one worth helping, at least on the Leviathan server.

One of my last acts was killing this guy.

http://members.cox.net/jasonwalton/0010.jpg
...and one of my last deaths was from his friend. This happened a lot in Dynamis runs, bleh.

One of the more amusing conversations during a boring leveling party.

More power to the people who put up with this game... I did for awhile, but I can't say I'd ever go back again.

lol, dayum at one monster giving you 1274 points of damage. That's crazy.

How would anyone fight something like that besides Ninja tanking?

Sep 24, 2005, 06:19 PM
Eh, Drexerion was a pansy... up until he used Eagle Eye Shot, which is what took me out. No matter how much provoking tanks do, I generally ended up stealing hate at some point.

Parn, you should consider trying the other server. This game is still great, extra players to come from XBox 360.

Heh, that was a nice Dynamis wipe. All it takes is one summoner in Dynamis to wipe an entire linkshell of 64 players if people aren't careful. It's a big reason why most hate doing Dynamis-Windurst, as there's a large number of summoners there, especially in this one particular area...

Of course, Dynamis is nothing but a gigantic lag-fest and blows.

I think i've posted my hatred for XI on here before. Partly because it basically took my friends' lives. One of my former best friends has been playing it EVERY SINGLE DAY since he got it last december. He plays it every waking moment he has...when he's not working or sleeping. My other friends quit it for awhile and played WoW only to return to XI again recently. The only way I'd say I'd play it was if they bought it for me and played the monthly subscription. The sad part is, Charles is seriously considering it. That's how bad they want me to play

well, thats not FFXI fault, I've played it too, and in the loggin sscreen they tell you "DONT TROW YOUR LIFE HERE; ITS A GAME" but whit prettier words, something about family and stuff, so, no, it doesnt FFXI's fault, sure, the game is hell adicting, I'd keep playinf if wasnt for my friend's brother that run from his house whit the PS2, I'm planning on getting back, buying a new video card and HDD, its that or if I find a GC modem, I'd play PSO ONLINE!

about the game, I had a chara named Valya, Ades server, 12 RDM / 6 WHM (I dindt have subjob, but I has on the run for it)

I thin FFXI its the best MMORPG, has srory, nice customization lvl, adicting, comunity etc, tue one "but" I see, its the dark graphics, it just look to dark, I would like to se bright colors once in a while

Shiva pulled me into playing this, Ive had an awesome experience with it so far =D Personally, the character creation could've been much better, but other than that, it's a great game, with a nice community.

Incase anyone's interested, I play on Remora as a Mithra called Rihko (currently lv12 Black Mage, getting help power-leveling to 30 =D)

Edit: Watashiwa, I'm pretty new to it, what monster's annihilating everything in that chat log? Considering the levels of those players, that seems like one totally mean monster..

I'm not sure myself, but from reading Parn's post, it appears to have been the result of a summoner in Dynamis.

For people who don't know, Dynamis is like FFXI's "Alternate Reality". It's the result of what would happen if the Beastmen won the war.

You can access this alternate reality at level 64+ and by paying 1 million gil for an hour glass item that you use to shift realities.

In the towns and outposts in Dynamis, there are beastmen inhabiting them as opposed to the other races.

And, you know how in the normal reality, the little summoner type monsters usually have the weak ass Spirit summons? Well, in Dynamis, the Summoners have full blown Aeon/GF pacts. Meaning, they can summon things like Ifrit, Shiva, Garuda, Ramuh, Fenrir, and so on, which is why it kind of blows to be wiped out by them. =)

Yep, and actually just looked up info on him too, that was a ninja and not a summoner. ;(

Wonder what attack he used.. I know bosses in FFXI can use two hours on you.. he's an NM, though, and not a boss.

It was probably the ninja two hour which normally kills the player and does massive AoE damage, except NMs don't die when they use it(Ark Angel HM anyone?).

Just looking the NM's in the game, was pretty happy to find 'Diabolos' (Diablos from FF8), as well as 'Ultima and Omega' http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif

Can't wait to get to an obscene level, only to get wiped by them.

watashiwa
Sep 28, 2005, 05:24 PM
Ultima and Omega Weapon are in the game, yeah. However, being able to fight them will be very difficult.

I believe the whole process goes through fighting 6 hard monsters back to back, then challenging Ultima weapon and then Omega weapon. (Or is it Omega and then Ultima? Whatever..)

All this has to be accomplished, including their defeat, in a quest and under 45 minutes with a level cap of 60.

Heh, I forgot about the ninja mobs in Dynamis. They're worse than the summoners. For those interested, some videos I recorded during my tenure in the game:

Small glimpse of Dynamis - Windurst (http://synbios.net/games/FFXI/videos/Dynamis%20-%20Windurst.avi)

Hundred Fists with Vishnu's Cesti equipped (a good bit faster than other H2H weapons) (http://synbios.net/games/FFXI/videos/Hundred%20Fists%20with%20Vishnu's.avi)

Pathfinding bug, resulting in what I called the Goblin Dance (http://synbios.net/games/FFXI/videos/The%20Goblin%20Dance.avi)

Leveling party, with me having a little fun with audio (http://synbios.net/games/FFXI/videos/Light.avi)

Earth Crystal bug, seen randomly on FFXI PC (was making coeurl subs... note: this is the recipe that netted me 100-200K gil a night on Leviathan since I was the only consistent source of this food) (http://synbios.net/games/FFXI/videos/Earth%20Crystal%20Bug.avi)

And my greatest triumph, video of the clearest victory over Maat with monk ever recorded (http://synbios.net/games/FFXI/videos/Synbios%20vs%20Maat.avi)

I won FFXI.

Only seen the Dynamis Windurst and Maat battle videos so far. Looks like you guys were pwning up Dynamis Windurst..

The Maat battle was pretty cool, nice choice of music, I liked the ending, though. "This game is fucking stupid" hahahaha..

How come he waited so long to start attacking you? You sure came in with alot of buffs, though, haha.

Fatalis was a very organized Dynamis shell. We cleaned all the town Dynamis areas with ease. The day I did Dynamis - Beaucedine was the day I quit FFXI again.

As far as Maat goes, he doesn't attack until you initiate combat. The music in the background was part of my own custom soundtrack for the game. I could upload it if you're interested, as I still have it on my hard drive. It livens up the game a lot.

Orange_Coconut

I -think- that's for BCNM. I haven't played FFXI in a long time, it got too much like work rather than just a game.

Honestly, I remember people talking about BCMN, and I never actually got to do it. I heard it was good though, there were different BCNMs you could do depending on level I think. I can't remember exactly what BCNM stands for though... Boss Creature Notorious Monster? Heh, no idea anymore.

Well, I could be way off. I have no idea what the goblin foot print is, but I bet all of that is important in some way - even if it's not important because of what I just said.

That area is reserved for BCNM (Burning Circle Notorious Monster) fights.

The dragon posted in Uriko's picture is the creature you face during mission 2-3. (Rank 2, mission 3)

You must beat the dragon to get Rank 3. It also has a little flying eyeball friend.

Tip for anyone who goes to fight it, bring an RDM with you who knows sleep. Put the dragon to sleep, rape the eyeball, then proceed to own the dragon. Will make your life a whole lot easier.

lol. Well I was given a suggestion to be a Warrior/Monk cus they rocked. What benifits would i get from being one?

Kent
Sep 29, 2005, 05:54 PM
Well, with Warrior, you have to have a number of support jobs available to you after level 30, for whatever the situation calls for. MNK, THF, NIN, and SAM are all viable support jobs for WAR, all with their ups and downs, some severely underrated, and some vastly overrated (SAM and NIN, respectively).

Shiva91
Sep 29, 2005, 05:59 PM
I see. I was going to Make a SAM but I was going to have Sub as a Summoner. lol I was told it wasn't a good idea. Low MP ect. I might try it anyways just to see how it flows. If it doesn't I would go for a Summoner. But what sub job would be good?

Kent
Sep 29, 2005, 06:10 PM
I hate to generalize, but when picking a combo, you want to keep a few things in mind:

A mage job and a melee job typically don't mix; mage jobs should sub other mage jobs, and melee jobs should sub other melee jobs. For most melee jobs, the best sub is going to be WAR. The only expections to this are WAR (can't sub WAr to WAR) and DRG, where your Wyvern's abilities depend on your sub job.

If you were to go for SMN as a main job, the best support job would be WHM, so you can backup heal between Blood Pacts.

Parn
Sep 29, 2005, 07:29 PM
I never did get to level 72, so I never used those Wagh Baghnakhs I had waiting for me. Equipment wise, I had those lined up, Full Monk AF (was accumulating points for Monk AF2 up until I realized Dynamis wasn't fun and I had wasted all my time trying to get to it), Spike Necklace, two Spike Earrings, Brown Belt, Amemit Mantle +1, one Ruby Ring, and one Triumph Ring (was saving up for a second one, 4 million for just one was a bit rough...). Anyone still playing FFXI, again... coeurl subs. That's the ticket to making a lot of money (we're talking half a million gil a week easy if you played each evening), at least when I was doing it. Few are willing to gather the materials and make multiple synths prior to synthing the subs themselves, though if you do your research... it's easy. Though this only remains true so long as it remains relatively unknown to the masses. If I were still playing, I wouldn't be telling a single one of you my secret to success. =P

If only FFXI were faster paced, I'd have stuck to it. I was decked out in some decent gear and never had to do a single minute of farming for gil. Monk AF2 was definitely something I had looked forward to, but like I said... Dynamis wasn't doing it for me, and I had gone through all that leveling with all these promises of how fun Dynamis was going to be. Oh well.
