I haven't seen a thread about this game, so here it goes. Sonic Team will launch a racing game, using the Sonic world. The characters will ride boards, in a "Trickstyle" game gender. Some (more) new chars are available, from what I've seen, one of them's a grey cat, and the other's a green turkey.

Some screens:

See the new guy? And check out Sonic's new footwear

The stages are insanely fast, from what the video seems to show

You'll be able to hit your opponents in a Mario Kart:Double dash style

People who aren't used to some level of games may find the racing tracks a bit non-linear, ending up in the middle of nowhere

You'll have to leg it at some point (Which should have been the whole point, heck)

Up to 4 players can race at a time, and I think it will come out on the three systems (GCN, PS2 and X-box).

Looks like it's gonna turn out to be a good game, but maybe it's all a bit comical? *hence the pic of amy bitching at sonic*

Wow, looks like something from Sega Saturn.

Wow, looks like something from early release pictures.

Seriously.

I didn't realize Sega was going to re-release the Dreamcast for this. Sorry, but the textures are absolutely terrible. Well, as is everything graphically. It is an... interresting premise, albeit already done. It looks like a cross of Mario Kart and Tony Hawk or some other boarding game. I read an article about it in Nintendo Power and apparently it is slated for a winter release. That likely means this screens are pretty darn close to final product. Dunno, it could be fun, but it could be another rehash of an already overused game idea.

It's kind of funny we play PSO then. Ya know, Dreamcast and all(Yes, there were minor graphical enhancements, nothing spectacular). This game looks pretty interesting, I'll probably pick it up down the road as well, if I have $50 to spare. If anything else, I can give it a rent.

PSO is a port from a previous game system. This Sonic Riders game is designed for the GameCube hardware. Why not expect it to be designed for the newer hardware and not something that is nearly 7 years old?

The point I was trying to make(And did a poor job pointing it out) is that most say graphics don't matter, when it seems it does. I know you could probably care less if this is what the final product looks like. But why complain about graphics if it "doesn't matter"? I just find that kind of odd and am in no way trying to be hostile with this. Sorry if I came off that way.

Graphics are an easy, while not always accurate, way of getting an idea for the quality overall in a game. As such, using what seems to be aged graphics makes me see the game as hurridly put together when I know what Sega is capable of. The other reason I feel that might be the case here is the rather soon release date with info coming out only recently. I would hope they would want to show off their latest pictures rather than something from early development, especially with such a soon release. Basically, from what I know right now, it just seems like a "filler" game for something greater to come. I could be entirely wrong, but, a filler game would make sense right now with PSU among other projects that will not be out for a while yet.

It is a "filler" indeed. Have you watched Sonic Next-Gen?

Yeah, um... I may be a franchise whore in some situations, but not for Sonic, so I can't find myself buying this merely for the branding.

It looks like one of Sonic Team's many "filler" titles, which are usually not up to par with the rest of the titles out there, unless they're a GBA game, oddly enough. I'm not even sure those are made by Sonic Team.

Kind of like all the Mario sports titles, if I had to make a comparison. Except those usually end up being pretty darn good.

Now, that Sonic The Hedgehog on X360 and PS3? That looks kinda fun.

goggles...since when does sonic need goggles? He doesn't need them when he's making a sonic boom.

Here comes SSX Sonic

Guess it didn't work on him at SA2.

They look lame on any character, anyway. Sonic didn't need sunglasses to be way past cool.
