View Full Version : Two technical questions about the game system

More for curiosity's sake than anything else.

1) When a weapon has %s, does it operate on only the weapon's base ATP, or on its ATP as ground? As an example, if I have a trusty Red Handgun 50% Altered Beast (I wish) ground to +50, and I give a Melqueek one in the eye, is the weapons's effective ATP for that shot (300*1.5) + 100 = 550, or is it (300+100)*1.5 = 600?

2) Does Shifta work only on the character's ATP, or does it also include the character's total with weapon equipped (not counting the so-called "Shifta bonus" with variable-ATP weapons, just the base figures). Again as an example, if my character has 1000 ATP, I'm using an unground Red Handgun (300 ATP), and someone casts a Shifta that adds 20% ATP (just to make the math easier), is the final effective ATP (1000*1.2) + 300 = 1500, or (1000+300)* 1.2 = 1560?

(In retrospect, I could probably figure out the latter one myself just by seeing how much my ATP goes up and down when I equip and unequip a weapon while Shiftaed and while not Shiftaed...)

I know that Shifta adds from your base ATP and increases weapon strength variations, but I don't know about the weapon's base strength affected by Shifta, and it could be hard to figuer out cause the extra ATP that the weapon shows could just be the increase in the ATP range and not the base ATP.

I have been pwned by Kef about this question, so I think the 50% adds on to the gun's ATP (Not the character's).

I'm probably wrong, but in your scenario, I think the percent works as (300+100)*1.5= 600.

Natron is right about question #1, this can be easily tested with a weapon that has no variance (such as Red Handgun).

About question #2, no, Shifta does not affect the total ATP, only your base ATP (this includes anything that affects base ATP: mag and units).
So if you receive more than the supposed ATP bonus from Shifta, it means your weapon has variable ATP.

Example:
ATP = 1000
Weapon #1 ATP = 500, fixed
Weapon #2 ATP = 200-500

ATP with Shifta Lv.30 = 1470
ATP with Shifta Lv.30 and weapon #1 = 1970
ATP with Shifta Lv.30 and weapon #2 = 1670-2111 (the ATP will show 2111, but will actually be 1890, on average)

ta-da!

Thanks, Kef. Guess I'll test the first one myself (ah, well, should be easy with a damage calculator). And at least my Shifta question is answered (I always knew about the variable-ATP "Shifta bonus" 'cause I was around for that discussion, but I didn't know if it also worked on the base number...unfortunately not http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif
