ATI is considered the leader with video capture cards. Not to mention, you can find a nice TV Wonder Pro card for $85.

I would personally suggest the PCI version if you have an open PCI slot. If not, USB 2.0 should be decent. I have both and do notice more lag with the USB 2.0 version than the direct PCI version. Price shouldn't be an issue as they are $1 different.

Don't stop at Newegg though, you might find a better deal elsewhere. Just look around for them and you shall find plenty.

I've been working with an ATI TV Wonder VE for a few years now, and while it isn't the greatest it quality, it gets the job done. And at $50 or less, it's not a bad starter. However, now that I have some know-how I am looking for a much more stronger card that has better resolution and more input/output options.

Those two above look pretty nice especially for the price range.

Happuage Win-PVR 150. It's under $100 and has better image quality than the ATI.

Problem is, with the default software, there's a bit of a delay between what you see on your computer and what's going on. (It's only noticable if you're capturing games..)

You can change the software and get around that, though.

We can compare image captures.

If you need more examples, I'll bring 'em.

I just searched Best Buy and couldn't find that happuage 150 card you were talking about. I am probably gonna go with the dazzle 150. It seems easier to use.

Must have not searched good enough.

Although, I wonder why Best Buy is selling it for $199.99 ? I got mine for $99.99 from CompUSA, same model, a few months ago.

lol, yeah, wtf.. Best Buy is trying to rip people off.

CompUSA selling it here:

$89.99

Better check prices on stuff from multiple places, especially if you're buying from Best Buy.

I have one more question. Do I have to actually put the card into my computer, because the dazzle lokks like I don't have to.

Well, the Dazzle is USB, so no.. you don't. With the WinTV or TV Wonder, yes.

I don't know how good the Dazzle is at video capture or still frame capture. Image quality wise and what you can actually do with the captured content..

Was just giving you my recommendations out of stuff I've tried.. If you're set on getting the Dazzle, here's hopes it doesn't suck. =)

If you are planning on using this to play games, the only way to go external is USB 2.0. USB 1.1 does not have enough bandwidth to have a fluid video and audio. Also, it will lower the quality to try and get the most out of the poor 11mbps that USB 1.1 is. Make sure both your computer and the device are both USB 2.0. I speak from experience here: a USB 1.1 capture device is just about the same quality as taking a picture of the television set with a camera.

Here are screenshots of Dreamcast games taken through a Leadtek WinFast 2000/XP Expert:

And also, a video of Sega GT. It was recorded with MP3 sound compression and no video compression, then video-compressed into DivX form using VirtualDub.

The Leadtek is too blurry for my tastes..

Just look at the text in that shooter game.. and the scores. ;(

Then again, you are probably using composite input, 'cuz if that's S-Video... then that's unacceptable.

I use composite. The 3-colored RCA cables.

I have the ATI AllInWonder Vid/capture card when I built my newest computer...I havent had any problems with it yet...I'd say splurge with the extra cash and upgrade your vid card while your at it. =D

I've been needing a new capture card, too... And all my experience with ATI's hardware has taught me to steer clear of anything with their label on it. :/

I bet you just don't like ATI because I said something cool about them! =P

I've found ATI's equipment to be quite impressive, myself, Kent.

My ATI AllinWonder died while I was playing Neverwinter Nights. IT FRIED (this was a few years ago).

all of those suggestions sound great, but I can't get one that I have to actually put in my comp. That is why I wanna get the dazzle 150. You just hook it up to the TV, and when you are done with what your doing, you hook it up through the USB 2.0 and download the video. I am gonna get the dazzle.
but thanks anyway.
