Does anyone know of any good guides for how to use these programs, and more specifically, get a more dimensioned look for your pictures?

Photoshop
Phong (http://www.phong.com/tutorials/)
Photoshop Cafe (http://www.photoshopcafe.com/)
Good Tutorials (http://www.good-tutorials.com/tutorials/photoshop/basics)

Illustrator
Sketchpad (http://www.sketchpad.net/illustrator.htm)
2GINC (http://www.2ginc.com/tutorials/illus.html)
Tech Tutorials (http://www.techtutorials.info/drzadill.html)

BTW, what do you mean a "more dimensioned look"? Are you talking about adding a bevel of some sort to give it depth or are you talking about a Skew, Distort or Perspective look?

It really depends on what you want to do with the program.

Are you looking for specific tutorials or general 'this is what everything kinda does' guides?

If you want a basic introduction to using the program, check out Graphicssoft (http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/photoshop/l/bllps5out.htm). You'll see lessons 1-8 and then a link to Going Beyond the Basics. That was written for older versions of PS but should still apply to newer versions as well.

Arraich's (http://www.arraich.com/ps6_tips_basics1.htm) site also has some great info on the basics of what the tools do and how to use them. Be sure to check out the TOOLS (http://www.arraich.com/ref/aatoolbar6.htm) section.

Adobe has some great beginner tutorials on their web site. I'm actually taking an Illustrator class. We are also using Adobe's book. It's not all that bad.

The ISBN is 0-321-19380-6
