Question on Ill Gill death-scythe attack

Ive been doing Phantasmal World#4 first 2 floor runs for a Sealed J-Sword, and this involves getting past one Ill Gill. Now, I'm a lv154 HUnewearl, I usually cast Rabarta until the Ill Gill freezes, then Zalure it and attack.

However, a strange thing happened today, which I've never seen before. I ran out of TP, and went to use a Difluid, and as I used it, the Ill Gill started it's black cloud move that roots you in place.

It walked over, while I'm still trying to freeze it, and pulled it's scythe back. When it glowed purple, I was ready to be revived by Scape Doll, but as it began the swing, I froze it.

While frozen, its scythe was still purple with the Hell attack. After it broke out of the freeze, it continued the attack, and hit me, but I didn't die. Instead, I took a lot of damage, but did not die from the death-scythe.

This was in Ultimate, I was under the impression the death scythe ALWAYS killed you? I don't think the attack is affected by EDK, but I only have 15 EDK anyway..

I've just NEVER survived the attack, wondering if anyone can shed light on this? I'm 100% sure the scythe was the death one, not freeze or shock.

Yeah, the fact that you froze it in the middle of its attack probably made the attack "lag", and when it thawed, the attack was thunder or ice, but still looked purple.

There are several explanations, actually, but its attack, if not stopped, will kill you instantly, even with 100+ EDK.

Then again, the purple scythe never killed me. (but then again, I only play on BB.)

It does make around 1100HP damage on a critical, though.

I don't think so. since my EDK is either 5 or 15 depending on who i'm using.

The closest thing I know that comes to surviving a hell attack is having high evp (I blocked the hell attack before)

ive noticed if you put a confuse trap and they kill each other with the purple swing they only do 5 damage when they kill each other.

When Thursday comes around and Seat of the Heart is put up, you'll fight them during that quest.

On BB, the purple sczthe is a megid Attack that you WILL avoid if you have 95 or higher EDK.
I have tried today with "only" 89 EDK, and both Del Lily Megid and Purple Scythe nailed me.
I need a Gratia to further investigate, but surely you can realize that trading for a Gratia isn't exactly the easiest thing, so I will put this on hold for now.

And this is by far, the most ignorant thing I've read all day. I don't have Japanese BB, that is the reason I ASKED where this person fought an Ill Gil on BB.

I am on an American server, because, well, I'm American and not trying to be something that I'm not. This information wouldn't be something that I would know, because I haven't played BB for that long, and haven't come across any Ill Gils.

So if my lack of knowledge on the Japanese BB is so offensive to you that you feel the need to call me names, well, I hope it makes you feel better. Hope it puts a little glimmer in your life.
