LOL

I called the [Florida Bar Association], and I was on hold for 20 minutes, and once I got a rep, as soon as I said Jack Thompson, she sighed loudly and goes, "Dear Lord, what has this man done? That's all we've heard today all day long!" and I told her that I had faxed a 3 page letter detailing the exact complaint, and she said that it would help alot and she will go get the fax. I'm on hold again.

Awesome.

Jack is toast if I do say so myself.

Finally something is happening to that...fanatic. I think thats the appropriate word for him, as thats how he puts him self over. An obssessed fanatic who constantly builds himself up to attack an industry he is sorely mis-informed on. His legal skills are seriously suspect too, seeing as he stoops to underhanded tactics such as calling people drug addicts, closested lesbians and claiming people have mental problems if he looses to them (He has thrown all those accusations around).

One of my teachers completely tore apart Jack Thompson's whole arguement in class, yesterday.

Today, another one of my teachers went over some articles (demonstrating persuasive speech) about how video games actually improve many mental abilities. :/

Video Games belong to the collective umbrella of "Media." American Media (and media world-wide, more than likely) lobotomizes its viewers, twisting their thoughts this way and that - all depending on what you watch/play, of course.

Well, technically, books do the same thing, but non-serial writers (aka, anyone not Steven King or Koontz, though he is pretty cool) tend to lack the same commercial overtones.

This is true 100%, but as you said books can do the same thing. Also, what people always forget as someone above mentioned, video games do help enhance certain brain functions. I know that because of my years of FPS playing, my hand eye coordination is insane. This has helped me in Jiu Jitsu and Kendo believe it or not. I have been able to focus more clearly since when I play videogames that I get into, I tend to block everything else out. Some may say I enter a zombie like state, but I say it is a more concentrated/focused state.

I've been playing video games since I was 5.
I have yet to murder someone.

In retrospect to my previous post and in regards to what the above poster mentioned, I too have yet to injure someone due to videogame playing. To be honest, I've been in more trouble for violence due to Calculus then any videogame.

I threw my Calc book across the room due to a shitty test score.

From what I've seen, people who have video/PC gaming as a major hobby are, for the most part, very non-violent. Conversely, I know of, and have seen, many people who don't play video games much, or at all, and are extremely violent, and have attitude problems. :/

It's pretty sad that there are people who think video games make people violent, just because a very small number of people who are too easily influenced, and can't distinguish between fantasy and reality kill people because they don't know any better. Even then, it's a stretch; pretty much any shooting, killing, or violent act from someone who plays games, mentally stable or not, is provoked.

Anyway, for further proof of how much Jack Thompson sucks at fact-checking, download this (http://www.chatterboxgameshow.com/jack.htm) interview and see how many things he says in it are just plain wrong. :/

Yeah...first post.

This dumbass appears to be delusional. Mentally unstable if you ask me.

I don't get the whole 'video games make you violent' bullshit. Nerds like us are the ones who play video games a lot, and I don't believe people complain about how violent and uncontrollable nerds are. -,-,

I find it funny how gamers are actually doing something, contradicting the whole nature of things. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif

Well, I personally could care less about Yack Thompson, he's never going to be able to do anything to me anyways(Oh shit, I can't buy GTA:SA, despite the fact if I really wanted to play it, I have 2 people who would be willing to buy it for me with my money). People are given the freedom to be stupid, whether or not the freedom to be stupid is a good thing isn't important, and he chose to be "stupid".

I'm trying hard not to take sides, but it is very hard here.

I like how he keeps digging himself deeper and deeper.

I think I'll join in with Scott Ramsoomair at VGCats and have a party with little party hats when Thompson finally gets what's coming to him.

He's a scumbag of a man, and I doubt anybody would feel bad if he lost his license to practice law.

This guy seriously makes me laugh; I found a link to his website, and one line on it says:

Have your kids shoot hoops, before they start shooting people.

And uh, this guy is supposed to be against violent gaming right? Then why in all that's good in the world, did he want someone to make his own violent game?

Sounds like something's wrong upstairs, or maybe I'm just tired.
