Instant Messaging trouble?

This is a request from a friend (shiva91 actually).

For the past few weeks, her MSN Messenger keeps on disconnecting all the time, sending massive delays on messages, saying she's offline when I'm talking to her (and she's replying back)

AIM is doing it also, but nowhere near as often.

I know she did have a Trojan Horse, but she got rid of that with AVG.

Things tried so far:
Uninstalling the IM programs, and re-installing them.

Trying a different version of MSN Messenger (tried 7.0 and 7.5)

Can anyone try and help sort this out? If you need to know anything to help, I can ask her.

Try opening the computer in safe mode, and deleting every trace of spyware from there.

Hijack-This and Spybot work wonders too.

But with Hijack-This, make sure you know what you delete. :|
