This still seems a bit fuzzy. Are we actually able to strafe around enemies while shooting with a handgun? http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_eek.gif

And do guns have combos as well, or can we just shoot until we run out of Photon Points? :E

One of the latest videos from Digital Life shows that you can strafe around while shooting (although if you're in FPS mode you can't move at all, just look around).
Apparently you can shoot a weapon till the photon "ammo" runs off.

*wonders if weapons just run out and wont work or actually disappear then* that would be rather.. inconvinient with rare guns...

probably pay to refill the clip up in town or something, of course with a rare gun i'll be a bit more expensive

Keep in mind that all weapons use PP for something, be it special moves, ammo, or technique casting. I'd be willing to bet that the fluid-type items will be what you will use on a weapon to replenish PP.

If Photon Points are something you have to keep buying, money will be that much more valuable in PSU (speaking as a ranger).

Well the demo I played at DL, you can only shoot once and can strafe in all direction. When it ran out of Photon the gun was useless. :/

Edit: I can't spell useless http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_disapprove.gif

I think he meant "useless."

And yeah, I think that fluids are being used to restore the points on weapons, as well.

No problem, I'll just reload this way:
http://www.freewebs.com/equilibrium-movie/Corinthian-turret.gif

But if that's not implemented in the game, I could always just use swords only.

Keep in mind what Sir Laguna said, "All weapons use PP for something, be it special moves, ammo, or technique casting." You'll need Photon Points to use swords as well.

I don't like this whole "Photon Points" thing...it's rather annoying.

Well, it's a nice replacement for TP, from what I gather. For melee weapons, it prevents you from just spamming special attacks mindlessly.

I don't find it annoying, I would just rather not have the source of firepower in my guns be the same thing that powers the special attacks with my blades. How about ammunition for guns and some photon energy for blades? The difference would be like monomate and monofluid. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

::A question for ForceEJ. What did you mean when you said, "you can only shoot once and can strafe in all direction. When it ran out of Photon the gun was useless."

Do you mean to say there are no combos for guns and you can shoot as fast as you want until you run out of ammo, or are you saying that guns fire like BOOM...BOOM...BOOM ? (sweet effects, huh?)

I think its, you can strafe in Third person, but you also have a First person view. I never played the demo though.

There is no strafing in first person mode. What do you think this is Half life 2? Anyway if there was strafing in first person I bet it would make the game way easier if you use a gun, as opposed to a sword, and thats just to unbalanced.

The gun couldn't do a combo it just shot once, and to shoot again you had to wait until the first animation of shooting the gun was finish.

You'll problable have to upgrade the gun to fire consecutive shots?

How upsetting. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif Not even a 3 shot combo. Is the animation slow?

I sure hope not. It's gotta be at least PSO Rifle speed.

I'm assuming most of these questions could be answered if we knew what kind of upgrades there are going to be..

Well, you'll probably just have to use a different kind of gun. Like, for example, rifles could have a slower firing rate than handguns, and mechguns fire in either bursts, or full-auto.

I still want a Rifle that fires in bursts, though...

I played it at e3. There is no combos you can keep shooting when you are locked on as much as you want until you run out. I never ran out of bullets though.

What kind of weapon were you using???

Notice how he said "when I locked on", indicating it's likely you have to lock on to an enemy to do consecutive shots, otherwise maybe you only do one shot and have to wait for the next.

About 25-30 secs. into the video of the forest area demo posted here (http://www.pso-world.com/viewtopic.php?topic=104353&forum=20&11), the player was firing as fast as they could without any sort of lock-on reticle. The handgun seemed to be firing about as fast as a handgun from PSO would, sans the restriction of the three-hit combo. I can live with that, but guns or upgrades that will allow you to fire a bit faster would always be a welcome addition!

No, no lock-on, but he was in "strafe mode", which is also the same button as lock-on; if you're not locked you strafe, which I presume also lets you fire continuously.
Of course, it's possible we can also fire continuously just standing, we just don't know for sure yet.
